Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan Film Review

There are so many horror icons out their and out all of them only two have tried to kill people in New York City. Out of those two only one of them has succeed and well I thought that i'd check out the film that failed to take over New York just because not only is this the latest film n the Friday The 13th franchise for me to take to look at anyway but it's also one that is rather infamous and so then join me as I review the film that is the last Friday The 13th film to be produced by Paramount Pictures until the 2009 remake with the film in question being called simply just "Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a cruise ship full of teenagers heads to New York while on board tho Jason Voorhees trys to make sure that they never make it to New York City. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty pretty bad with this films being nothing more then a stock slasher plot and nothing really more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees , Jensen Daggett as Rennie and Scott Reeves as Sean Robertson. Also starring in this film is Barbara Bingham as Colleen Van Deusen , Peter Mark Richman as Charles McCulloch , V. C. Dupree as Julius Gaw , Martin Cummins as Wayne Webber , Gordon Currie as Miles Wolfe , Kelly Hu as Eva Watanabe , Sharlene Martin as Tamara Mason , Dragon Ball Z star Saffron Henderson as J.J. , Alex Diakun as The Deck Hand and Warren Munson as Admiral Robertson.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films acting being alot better then what it really had any right to be. However what lets the acting down is the fact that this films script just isn't that good which means that this films cast just can't turn in that good of a performance as this films script just simply won't allow for it as that's just how ad this films script is.

There were several ideas for this film during it's early days with scripts being written by Lar Park Lincoln and her husband with her script seeing her character Tina helping out in a mental hospital for young girls. The other was by her Friday The 13th Part VIII: The New Blood co-star Kevin Spirtas which would have been a remake of The New Blood except with his character from that film as the killer with the original version being nothing more then a dream there was also a part 8 being developed by The New Blood's director John Carl Buechler which would have seen the character of Tina escape a mental hospital before facing of against Jason Voorhees one last time.

For a film that meant to take place mostly in New York alot of those scenes was filmed in Vancouver as such the title now makes no sense. Granted we d get a few shots of Jason that was actually filmed in New York but alot of the time the only locations that we see are locations that could be anywhere as all they are is a dock yard and an alley way neither of which scream New York city granted Paramount did sign of on the script which makes me wonder why they didn't give the film a big enough budget to actually film in New York as the very idea of having Jason Voorhees stalking teenagers around New York City is a good idea.

If this film feels like two different films stitched together that's because that's exactly what it is as Paramount agreed to two different films scripts one which set upon a cruise ship and the other being set in New York City. With this films writer and director Rob Hedden writing both scripts and so he stuck the cruise ship script to the front of the New York City script and as a result of that this film does feel like it's two different films as the first half of the film feels like a claustrophobic sea movie whereas the second one feels alot more like a more goofier Friday The 13th movie with Jason even making jokes all of which clash with the more serious tone look and feel with the first half of the film which itself contrasts with the really alot more lighthearted and really goofy tone and feel of the second half of this film.

I think that we can all agree that the Charles McCulloch is just a terrible character which is really saying something as alot of this films victims just aren't that interesting. Even our main final girl character just comes across as being bland and annoying with her having nothing that makes her stand out or come across as being likable but what makes Charles McCulloch a terrible character tho is the fact that he pretty much mentally abuses Rennie into getting what he wants and he openly leaves several students and colleague to die and is openly willing to kill an innocent person when he doesn't believe that Jason has comeback to life which is something that also doesn't make a whole lot of sense as these characters are meant to be from Crystal Lake and so they would no that Jason comes back to life quite often.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty minuets and twenty seven seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have as it doesn't have that much of a plot to begin with which means that the films plot is already being stretched pretty thin but at the same time tho when this film gets going you really don't notice it especially when the group finally arrive in New York City but the issue there is that the film takes well over an hour to get to New York with the vast majority of the film being spent on this slow moving boat but I will admit that this film does have some really solid pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film were in all honesty not that bad. As this film does have some really solid and pretty enjoyable kills in it the issue is tho is that alot of this films kills happen just off screen and so don't really get to see the kills in this film alot of the time and alot of the ones that we do get to see are pretty lame for the most part in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall I can quite easily see why this film is considered to be one of the worst films in the Friday The 13th franchise as this film is pretty bad and is a sign that this franchise should have ended with this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Image actually has images from this film up on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

See No Evil 2 Film Review

WWE Studios very rarely if ever for that matter turn out a good film and so it was quite shocking that all of their films to get a sequel apart from The Marine movies we would get a sequel to their so far one and only slasher film. I will admit that as someone who was a fan of the first film heck I even went out and brought the first movie on DVD the day of release I was excited to see this film but now on the eve of this films ten year anniversary does the film still hold up well let's find out and so then join me as I review the film is so far the only horror sequel that WWE Studios have ever produced with the film in question being called simply just "See No Evil 2" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a morgue worker Amy , her friend Seth and their boss Holden along with Amy's friends finds themselves the latest target's of serial killer Jacob Goodnight and have to fight to stay alive from the thought dead killer. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad altho it was just the bogstanderd slasher horror film plot and really nothing more then that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is wrestling legend Glenn Jacobs AKA Kane as as Jacob Goodnight and horror icon Danielle Harris as Amy. Also starring in this film is horror icon Katharine Isabelle as Tamara , Kaj-Erik Eriksen as Seth , Chelan Simmons as Kayla , Greyston Holt as Will , Lee Majdoub as Carter , Michael Eklund as Holden , this films co-director Sylvia Soska as Corpse and this films co-director Jen Soska as Corpse.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With all of this films cast members doing their best to turn in a good performances with who you think turning in a good performance doing exactly that however what let's this films cast down is the fact that this films script is just that bad with the actors in this film being unable to turn in a great performance as this films script gives the cast nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities eve are or are even meant to be for that matter.

What set the first film apart from all of the other slashers out their is the fact that it made it's main killer more of a sympathetic character. All of that is sadly gone in this film as he's gone from killing people because that's all he knew what to do and truly believing that he was doing the right thing due to his upbringing by his mother to being someone who kills people just for the sake of it and that robs the character of all of the growth that he went through in the first film and made him just another slasher killer only with out the charm and the charisma to make him truly standout and make feel more like a unique character.

Usually in the realm of slasher horror sequels it takes them a while to get around to killing of the killer and bringing him back in the very next film in some stupid way. However this film did it in the first sequel by having Jacob come back without any kind of explanation with the character now being pretty much unable to truly die which wouldn't be a bad thing if they at the very least explained how he survived being killed of at the end of the first film as that is something that even the worse horror sequels tend to do either by explaining it away in dialog or by having a time jump but this film does neither of those two things.

To this films credit it does try to have to make it's main hero characters come across as being likable characters. However as the films characters have no personality traits to speak of they don't come across as being likable they instead come across as being rather one dimensional and boring with all of this films characters being done better in other slasher films which is a shame as this films co-directors The Soska Sisters know how to make likable horror characters heck one of their most famous films has them making the villain extremely likable ad yet due to this films bad script they just can't make this films set of main hero characters even close to being likable.

What I really liked about this film is the fact that none of the main characters make it out of the film alive. Which I believe is something that really isn't done in horror films let alone slasher films and so to see it done here was shocking even more so when you take into account the film spends alot of time setting up Danielle Harris to be this films final girl only to have her be killed of at the start of this films third act leaving only Erik Eriksen's character to take on Jacob alone but then the film goes and kills him off leaving us with no survivors which is something that does oddly work for this film as it sets you up nicely for a sequel should one ever come along and it gives us some truly nice looking kills along the way as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty minuets and twelve seconds. Which is pretty much the exact running time that I was expecting from this film as this film is really light on plot so much so that I was left wondering what the actual plot of this film even was alot of the time but at the same time I wanted this film to be a little bit longer just so the film would then have the chance to fully develop it's characters alot more then what it really does which in turn would make their deaths all the more tragic as we'd have gotten more time to really get to know these characters as actual people and not just cardboard cutouts and I will admit this film does also have some really good pacing as well.

So now then as this is a slasher film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film were in all honesty really cool. With this film featuring alot of really good deaths and even tho this film does feature CGI blood with the CGI being provided by COMEN VFX that doesn't take away from the fact that this films kills were really cool and were really creative to look at in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall the first film is still quite easily the better one but at the same time I do like this film for at the very least trying to continue the story of Jacob Goodnight even if the first film firmly ended that story in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review ans as such that means that this very film earns a grand old score of exactly a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Headhunters Horror House fandom wiki page , the official Pro Wrestling fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . The Last Voyage Of The Demeter Film Review

The Dracula character is a staple of not only horror but of pop culture with the character having appeared in over hundreds of films and TV adaptations over the decades. However there's one story that o me knowledge has never been told and well that all ends with the release of the film that i'm about tor review for all today and so then join me as I review the film that I is the second adaptation of the Dracula character in this year alone with the film in question being called simply just "The Last Voyage Of The Demeter" enjoy.

The plot of this film is the crew of a merchant ship find themselves carrying a monster and must try to kill it before they reach their destination of London. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and was alot better then what I personally thought that it would be as I was expecting a really un-creepy and unimaginative plot but what I got was almost the complete opposite of that in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Corey Hawkins as Clemens and Game Of Thrones star Aisling Franciosi as Anna. Also starring in this film is Game Of Thrones star Liam Cunningham as Captain Elliot , David Dastmalchian as Wojchek , Woody Norman as Toby , Jon Jon Briones as Joseph , Stefan Kapičić as Olgaren , Nikolai Nikolaeff as Petrofsky , Martin Furulund as Larsen , Chris Walley as Abrams , Nicolo Pasetti as Deputy Hirsch and Javier Botet as Dracula.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what I thought that it would be. As I really had no idea what to expect from this film in any aspect but at the same time this films acting isn't as good as it perhaps could have been as we know that this films cast can turn in some really good performances and yet because of this films script not giving them anything to work with interms of what their respective characters personalities even are this films cast just can't turn in that good of a performance in this very film as this films script really just won't allow for it.

Doing the CGI for this film is Firebrand VFX , Moving Picture Company and RISE Visual Effects Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films CGI really being alot better then what it had any right to be as nobody was expecting this film to have good or even passable CGI init and so it was really shocking to me to find out that this film actually had some really good CGI in it.

This films co-screen writer Bragi Schut Jr. got the idea for this film after he visited someone who worked on the 1992 Dracula movie. Which was something that I really found interesting as if your going to take inspiration from anything then it might as well be something from the director of The Godfather and it really does help that this is a truly original story as we really haven't seen this part of the Dracula story played out before now which I do kind of understand why that's the case but at the same time given just how many stories have been told about Dracula in the past it was only about time that this one chapter from the original book found it's way on screen.

In what is a shocking move this film is the second Dracula based movie to be released this year after the hugely successful Renfield. With this film sadly being not as fun as that film which is a shame as there is alot of potential for this film to be just as fun and just as crazy and insane as that film was just with this films setting but for some reason the makers of this film chose to make this film a super serious film which isn't a bad idea but the idea behind this film is kind of goofy in the first place and so it would have helped the film out quite alot if they leaned into it's goofiness and just go all out with how insane this film could be and should have been.

As I said this film is based of off the chapter "The Captain's Log" from the 1897 novel by Dracula by Bram Stoker. While i've never and will never read the original novel I have to admit that the idea of turning just one early part of the book into a film to seems like a bad idea as we already know just what happens to these characters given that there not in the rest of the novel and so all tension , shock and surprise is now lost and so all we the audience are now left doing is waiting for the characters that we know or a fact will die eventually meet there fate and while that can be fun in some films in this film it's just not that fun to see play out in this film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty one minuets and forty two seconds. Which is a bit on the long side for this film as this film really doesn't need to be that as long as the film really doesn't have alot their interms of either plot and story to cover that large amount of running time an while we're not left watching the characters just go about their day to day lives what we are left with is a bunch of mostly unlikable characters just talking and there's only so long that you can sit through that before it gets boring which in this film happens very quickly and it happens very often but I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then since this is a vampire film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film were in all honesty not that creative. However what this film lacks in creative it kills it more then makes up for by having alot of genuine creepy scares in this film with one of the most creepiest kills in the whole entire happening to the most innocent person in this film which was just so cool to see in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film wasn't as fun as Renfield was it was still a really enjoyable film with this film being alot more enjoyable then what I thought that it would be as when it gets going it is a really good and enjoyable film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got ll of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards .

Dark Shadows Film Review

It's not unusual for a TV show to get adapted into a movie infact it's a shockingly common thing that is still going to this very day. However what alot of those shows have in common is the fact that they are all never based of off a soap opera well that is not the case for this film as this film was based of off a soap opera and so then join me as I review the film that proved that Johnny Deep just really doesn't make that good of a good vampire with the film n question being called simply just "Dark Shadows" enjoy.

The plot of this film us the first thing that's wrong with this film as this film has no plot so speak of whatsoever. Which is fine for an ongoing soap opera but when your a feature length film you need to have a plot as you don't have weeks upon weeks of television in order to tell your story you just have two hours and that's it and when you rob a film of it's story you also rob it of it's reason or being made which is very sadly the case of this film as the film just feels like it didn't need to be made and that comes down to the fact that the film itself has no plot to speak of which just makes this film rather pointless and aimless.

Starring in this film is Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins and Eva Green as Angelique "Angie" Bouchard. Also starring in this film is Bella Heathcote as Victoria Winters / Josette Du Pres , Michelle Pfeiffer as Elizabeth Collins Stoddard , Helena Bonham Carter as Dr. Julia Hoffman , Jonny Lee Miller as Roger Collins , Chloë Grace Moretz as Carolyn Stoddard , Gully McGrath as David Collins , Jackie Earle Haley as Willie Loomis , Ray Shirley as Mrs. Sarah Johnson and the late Sir Christopher Lee as Silas Clarney.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the issue as this films acting isn't all that good either which is a shame as we know that this films cast can turn in some good performances but they need a good script in order to do and sadly it's this films script that lets the actors down as this films script gives this actors and actresses absolutely nothing to work with interms of what their respective characters even are and so they can't turn in that good of a performance simply as this films script just really simply won't allow them all to do so.

If your like me then you most likely didn't know that this film was based of off the soap opera of the same name. With the series itself running between June 27th 1966 and ending it's run on April 2nd 1971 with the show having aired a whopping one thousand two hundred and twenty five episodes and while I can't tell if the show had any of it's storylines adapted for this film I can say that given that the show ran for as long as it did and given just how crazy the storylines on the show just from reading the shows wikipedia page I doubt that they adapted any of the shows storylines just to avoid any of the crazy and wacky storylines that were featured in the show itself.

This was firs time that Eva Green worked with director Tim Burton with the duo still making movies together. I have to admit that I was shocked to see that Eva Green was in this movie just because I haven't seen this movie in well over ten years but it's not really helped by the fact that her character much like all of the other characters in this movie are just forgettable which is a shame because she plays a really good villain with her character being one of the few characters that is actually fun to see in this movie and while her character is given some decent motivation what doesn't make sense is why she chose in the same town for centuries as her character never ages and the people in town just don't question it at all.

As a horror movie this film just straight up doesn't work as it's not scary and has no atmosphere to help to make it scary. Which shouldn't be the case as vampires are the easiest creature in the world to make scary and yet this film can't even make Johnny Depp's vampire character scary with his character particularly coming of the worst when it comes to the look of the characters as well as he just looks like a stereotypical Tim Burton character which doesn't make him unique nor does it help to make him scary and as the whole idea of the film rides on him being scary I really do think that alot more effort should have gone into making the actual film itself actually scary.

If there was one word that I could use to describe this whole entire film it's forgettable because that's exactly what this film is. It's forgettable heck just last yea the film reached it's tenth anniversary and not alot of people where talking about this film and alot of what makes this film is the fact that it doesn't know what it wants to be as it will try telling a bad joke in one scene and then t'll try to be scary in the very next scene with nothing to ease the transition and so this film comes across as being a tonal mess and when you add in the fact that this film has no plot to speak of much like an episode of a soap opera then it's no wonder that this film has very largely been forgotten about by the larger film loving and horror loving world.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty three minuets and five seconds. Which for this film is far to long especially since for large portions of the films running nothing is happening as all we do is spend large portions of this films running time is spent just watching the characters just go about their day to day lives and while that's fine for the first couple of minuets it;s not fine when that's the overall majority of the films running time this is made somewhat worse when you realise that the first several minuets of the films running time is spent on a flashback scene that would have been much better used if it was cut up and used at various points in the films running time bu I will admit that this film does have some decent pacing to it tho with film for the most part just flying right on by.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad. With this film having alot more bad jokes then it does good jokes which is a shame because when this film tells a a somewhat decent joke it can be pretty funny it's just a shame then that the film is more focused on telling bad jokes then it is telling actually funny jokes in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it's not hard to see why this has largely been forgotten as it's not a very memorable film at all and because of that the film is doomed to be lost to sands of time in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the and bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Terrifier 2 Film Review

The Terrifier films are films that have shockingly been getting more and more popular with each passing release. So much so that the newest ...
