Pearl Film Review

When it comes to horror films it's not unusual for the follow up film to be released one year after the original film. However what is unusual is for the follow up film to not only be a prequel film but to also be released within a few months of the original film as was the case with the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the film that made it's main villain a star with the film in question being called simply just "Pearl" enjoy.

The plot of this film is many decades before the events of X a young Pearl dreams of becoming a star and will do anything to make her dream come true. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with this films plot being a very thought provoking look into a character that we thought we knew only to reveal that we knew nothing about her whatsoever with this films plot being at best pretty thinly drawn out and while that might be seen as being a bad thing it's also something that does work to this films advantage as this film is being told from the point of view of Pearl and therefor it wouldn't make sense anyway and would be seen as being pretty thinly drawn out due to the fact that Pearl is mentally unwell and we are only spending a very brief amount of time with her and with this film showing us things from her point of view it does mean that we won't get to see the whole picture of the plot as Pearl herself is only focused on one thing and one thing only and that's becoming a star and with the film having a simple premise like this one it doesn't really need to have a deep plot as the draw isn't coming from the plot rather it's coming from seeing someone get driven to these extremes in the first place with that being the more interesting aspect of this films plot with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is one of this films producers and this films co-writer Mia Goth as Pearl and Superman star David Corenswet as The Projectionist. Also starring in this film is Power Rangers S.P.D. and Black Sheep star Tandi Wright as Ruth , The Lost City Of Z star Matthew Sunderland as Pearl's Father , Emma Jenkins-Purro as Mitsy , Amelia Reid-Meredith as Margaret and Alistair Sewell as Howard.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films actors turning in some really good performances in this film which is something that does both make sense and yet at the exact same time also not make sense as well as alot of this films actors aren't that well known and so it really wouldn't make sense to expect good performances from them in this film and yet at the exact same time it does also make sense as not only is Mia Goth a writer and producer on this move but she also played the older version of Pearl in X and is basically reprising her role in this film with her knowing the character inside and out and both she and David Corenswet are just a pair of really good actors in their own right as well with his acting in this film also giving me faith that his acting in Superman will be good as he's a really good actor in this movie as even tho he doesn't get alot of screen time he makes it count with the best actor in this film being of course Mia Goth who just simply kills it as Pearly with her not only making the character utterly hate able but at the same time also quite tragic as we the audience get to see what her life was like on the farm and how she just wants to be famous but her mother forces her not to try and reach for her goals with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just the say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

This films characters whilst they aren't the best written characters in the film they are some of the more interesting characters outside of Pearl. As even tho her mother does actively try to stop Pearl from achieving her goals it doesn't come from a place of hate rather it instead comes from a place of love somethin that Pearl can't quite understand as she's a very self absorbed character who is only looking out for number one with the war and being forced to stay on the one place that she wants to get away from being contributing factors in driving her further and further insane with her father oddly enough being the calming factor between the two ladies as while he doesn't say a line of dialog in the whole film you get exactly what he's feeling just from the looks that actor Matthew Sunderland gives and from those looks you can tell that whilst he does care quite deeply about Pearl he is also scared of her and what she's becoming with her only real friend in this film being Mitsy who is the complete and total opposite of Pearl as while Pearl is a pretty smart character Mitsy just isn't with her quite frequently flaunting her wealth in front of Pearl but despite all of that she is still there for Pearl when she really needs her to be something that isn't true even for Pearl's mother with The Projectionist being the only weak character in the bunch with that being more due to the fact that the character just doesn't get alot of time on screen to display just what he's like as a character with his only purpose in the film being to further convince Pearl to go to this local audition and that's really it but even so his character is one that's pretty important to the character of Pearl as she's so afraid of rejection and of people leaving her that throw him we get to see just how she reacts when someone does leave her.

There are two things that make this film stand out from all of the other prequels the first of which is the fact that it was filmed in secret and the second of which is the fact that it was filmed pretty much back to back with X. This is something that really hadn't been done before this film and it hasn't been done after it either with this being a huge shame as due to how this fil was made not only did it mean that the entire crew from X returned for this film but it also meant that the makers of this film got to use the exact same locations as they did in X thus making the films more connected then what they already were in the first place and while yes this film does falls into the same pitfalls that all prequels fall into as we know exactly how this film will play out due to the fact that Pearl is also the main villain in X and as such we the audience will already know that she' going to make it out of this film unharmed and yet that's the only pitfall that this film has with that even that pitfall still being a major one we don't get to see how Pearly became the sort of jaded character that we see her as in X with that aspect of her character only being hinted at all throughout the film but never really seen in full like it was in X which was such a smart choice on the part of this films co-writer , producer , editor and director Ti West as it means that there is something left to the imagination and that is something that can be more scarier as it means that we the audience now get to imagine how she became like that with that being something that could even be developed further in sequels to Pearl which they very easily could do given how this film ends and the fact that Howard has become quite apt at killing people by the time that the events of X take place.

While X was a straight up slasher film and MaXXXine a slasher detective film this film is a slasher drama film. With there being just as much dramatic moments in the film then there are kills which is something that was quite honestly really refreshing to see as in order to understand why Pearl is the way that she is we have t first understand how she got that point in the first place and what better way to do that then to make your prequel movie part slasher and part drama as then we get to see these scenes that do show us the audience how Pearl became this truly messed up person with her truly believing that she's doing the right thing and heck because of that the fact that this is film is also a drama we get this long five almost eight minuet unbroken take of Mia Goth just delivering this long monolog near the end of the movie and that is something that not only should sell you on just how good of an actor Mia Goth really is but also on how well written the character of Pearl is as well as all throughout that speech she keeps on trying to convince herself that she's going to make things right for Howard whenever he finally does come home from the war all the meanwhile she knows that deep down she won't ever be able to make this right just due to the fact that she's killed innocent people and that is something that just wouldn't be able to be done or even be included in the film if this film was a straight up slasher film as you'd have to get to more kills and that is something that would get in the way of having a truly great scene like that in the movie and while yes it would have been nice if this film did have more kills in it in this case it's not something that was needed as seeing just how Pearl got driven to that place where she has to kill people is more the scary enough.

What was shocking to see was the fact that we got to see into the mind of Pearl during certain sequences of the movie. Like the fact that when she's at the audition she imagines herself dancing with a group of army soldiers all around her and while these little insights into her mind were great how showing us just how far of the deep end that she is they were also pretty distracting as they add nothing to the overall plot of the film and felt like that they were put in there for the sake of being there and while this film was called the female Joker with that fil the insights into Arthur Fleck's mind where done so subtly that you needed to watch the film a second time to make sure that you caught it where as with this film they just straight up hit you over the head with it when something like this could have been more subtly just by going the route that they did with Joker by having certain things play differently in pearl's mind only for it be reveled near the end of the movie that everything that Pearl thought she knew and saw she didn't which is something that would work as she's mentally ill anyway and so it wouldn't be that far of a stretch for her character to do those kinds of things and still think that she's OK and while those brief looks into her mind loke the rest of the film do look very visually stunning they are things that could've been left on the cutting room floor due to how little that they add to the films plot and while that wouldn't be a bad thing if they at least added to Pearl as a character but they don't and therefor one has to wonder why they were included in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty two seconds minuets and ten seconds. Which to be fair is a pretty solid running tome for this film to have as this film really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place and while yes in some respects this film doesn't it's running time all that wisely as none of the films newer characters are that well developed it could also be argued that that's the point as we the audience are seeing the film through Pearls eyes and therefor if she's not spending alot of time with them are getting to know them all that well then we audience don't get to either but on the flip side of that is the fact that it would have been nice to get to know these characters as we that would make there kills all the more impactful and the characters all the more memorable and heck we don't even get to find out the name of The Projectionist as that's all he's called in the movie but while the film does fail on the character development front it does succeed on the world building front which yes granted is also due to X but this film has to take that same world and now de-age it by about fifty years with this films world feeling very Americana with everybody just doing there best to get by in what were very difficult times not only for America but for the world as a whole with the film even taking the time to build up alot of tension something that is now kind of a lost art in horror films with this films world building even playing a part in that as we get to understand where Pearl is coming from and how this just struggling to get by outlook might be good for other people but it's not one that works for her character but this film does it wonderfully but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. As even tho this film only has about four kills throughout the whole film it's the build up and tension surrounding each and everyone of those kills that makes them standout and that makes what could have been seen as being very generic and boring kills seem scary and borderline frightening all over again as we the audience get to see how Pearl really is just thinking on the fly when she commits these kills more often then not just using whatever is at her disposal as her main weapon of choice at the time which does result if some pretty unique kills as we really don't get to see someone smothered to death alot of the time in slasher films with the same thing also being true for the use of a garden rake either and while using a hatchet is kind of a predictable weapon to use given the main location of this film is a homestead it is understandable that there would be one of those just lying around the house as she most likely would have needed to use one to get things like firewood with it being quite honestly hard to say just what the best kill of this film is in the first place but if push comes to shove it would have be Mitsy's death as we get to see it done in one largely unbroken one shot which are always super hard to pull off and it was really ambitious for this film to not only pull it off but also get a good kill out of it as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while X more then set the standard for this trilogy of films it was this film that more then not only met those standards but surpassed them and while this film might not be everyone's cup of tea it would have hard to deney the fact that this film is just a really good film regardless of it's connections to X as it is a film that did all of the things that X did only alot more better that what X really did in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because the official Scream fandom wiki page actually has images from this film really are up and on the Google Image and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

MaXXXine Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

To say that this year has been a really good year for independent horror films would be a huge understatement. With one of the best independent horror films to come out in the past few years being 2022's X a film that was so popular that a prequel was produced not long after X had finished filming and with both of those films being massive hits at the box office it was only about time that we returned to the world of X and well now two years later the sequel to X is now finally here and so the join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that sees Maxine Minx take on another slasher villain with the film in question being called simply just "MaXXXine" enjoy.

The plot of this film is several years after the events of X adult film star Maxine Minx finds herself auditioning for a role in a horror film while she also has to content with a new killer on the loose one that knows Maxine a little to well. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was n all honesty really good as the plot of this film does a good job of setting up where the Maxine character is in a way that feels true to who that character is as well as giving us a plot that whilst might have been alot more better off if it was made in the nineties was still fresh and different enough from all of the horror films that there that it can kind of get away with being a bit more dated in some respects with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is this films producer Mia Goth as Maxine Minx and Elizabeth Debicki as Elizabeth Bender. Also starring in this film is Moses Sumney as Leon , Michelle Monaghan as Det. Williams , Bobby Cannavale as Det. Torres , singer Halsey as Tabby Martin , Lily Collins as Molly Bennett , The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito as Teddy Knight , Kevin Bacon as John Labat and Simon Prast as The Televangelist.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I  personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which considering who is starring in this film really isn't all that new nor surprising either alot of this films cast really do know how to turn in a really good performance and as was per-usual for this franchise that's exactly what we got with all of this films cast members turning in some really good performances it goes without saying tho that the true standout performer in this film is quite easily Mia Goth who is just a joy to watch in this film as she manages to portray the loneliness that a character like Maxine would have been feeling due to the events of X and still make her a likable character that you want to root for with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

What was unexpected is the fact that this film does portray the Hollywood film industry of the nineteen eighties in way that's true to how it most likely would have been. As the hollywood in this film is presented as a place that's where dreams are made of and where all you need is one lucky break to make it something which isn't in alot of horror films or films in general as alot of those films tell us that Hollywood is a place that's full to the brim of sleezy people and while yes that might have been true in the eighties as well it's not something that's focused on in this film as the Hollywood in this film is presented as a place that feels alot more real and lived in and while yes there are hints of that sleezy nature in this film it's not really something that's given a whole lot of focus on in this film with it being done really alot more in the background as we do get some of that sleezy nature with the more real Hollywood being at the forefront which is how it should be as it's something that really hasn't been seen before now.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!

This film does try to do the Scream type of slasher film by having a mystery surrounding who the main villain actually. However whereas that was built into the very DNA of the Scream films it was something that's never been in any of the X films and as a result of that is the fact that it really does come out nowhere with the actual mystery itself not being that well handled as the film really doesn't give you any clues to work out who the main killer of the film actually is and as a result of that is the fact that unless you've seen X then when it's revealed that the killer is Simon Prast's character who does actually get name here with the character officially being called Ernest Miller it really is something that does come out of nowhere and will leave you all scratching your heads as the film really doesn't give the us the audience any clues so that we can work it out for ourselfs heck there isn't even any suspects as to who the killer could have been either it's just something that is treated more as an afterthought with the film focusing more on it's slasher aspect and not really giving alot of care and attention to it's mystery aspect when the attention should have been fifty fifty with both aspects of the film getting alot of love and attention and not just one over the other.

Speaking of the Ernest Miller character while he is an interesting character the character himself is always going to be compared to Pearl just because of the fact that she was the better of the two characters. Where as with Ernest Miller even tho he did make alot of appearances in X he was more of a background character with him taking the spotlight if you will in this film and while the character does have some good reason for wanting to commit these crimes as he believes that Hollywood is turning people to sin and so uses perverse teachings to convince people that he's in the right and killing  those that disagree with him to the point where he's basically formed a cult and while the revelation of Maxine being his daughter was a great addition to X it's not really something that's fully explored upon in this film which it really could have done just by having the two of them interact more and not have Maxine know that he's killing all of these people just yet as that could be something that develops both characters and it would have given us the audience some insight as to what Maxine's childhood was like growing up with a televangelist father and how that really made her want to bust out from his shadow be the star that she knows that she is as well as seeing how he reacted to her surviving the events of X and her wanting to be a star im her own right both of which are things that could have been explored in great detail in this film and yet for some strange reason there not but it;s quite clear that writer , editor , producer and director Ti West really does have a clear love for the slasher genre tho.

Interms of the newer character this film doesn't really fair all that well which does make sense as the side characters in both X and Pearl aren't really all that good either. However at the same time tho the makers of this film have had two years now to learn how to create good side characters and yet they really haven't and as a result of that is the fact that all of this films newer characters just come across very dimensional characters with the worst offender of this being Elizabeth Bender who just comes across as being the stereotypical unlikable boss type of character who has a few likable moments about them and really nothing more then that as we get to find out nothing about her and what makes her tick other then the fact that she's an artist ad that's really it and that's not enough to make her a interesting character and that wouldn't be a bad things if she only appeared in one or two scenes all throughout the film but she appears in quite alot of the film so much so that she pretty much has a slightly big role in the film and yet she's not given much there in the way of character with the same thing also being true for Leon who is pretty much just the stereotypical gay best friend that you'd expect to find in any romantic comedy who is also just a carbon copy of Randy Meeks from Scream as all he does is explain things to Maxine and that's really it.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty six minuets and two seconds. Which is the absolutely perfect running tie for this film to have as when you boil this films plot down to it's essentials this film has just the right amount of plot to really cover that amount of running time and to this films credit it really does make the absolutely best use of it's running time that it could have dine and while yes this film really would have been alot more better if it did have a slightly longer running time as that would then allow the makers of this film to give the characters some more actual character and it would allow us the audience the chance to see what Maxine's childhood was like and what her father Earnest's reaction to her surviving the events of X was like alot of those scenes would also be required to have been in the film from the script stage as that would be the best way to make sure that they don't bog down the plot of the film but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then  in all honesty I in al honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the kills in this film being just as fun and just as gory as they were in both X and Pearl heck it could even be argued that the kills in this film are even more gory then the kills that we got in both X and Pearl with the best kill in this film being either the death of Earnest himself who's gets his head shot clean of by Maxine using a shot gun or to a guy who straight up gets crushed to death in a car compactor which is just such a fun scene to see with it being also a really shocking kill as it's nothing some that you expect to see in a slasher film and yet it's something that also oddly works for this film as well and it makes all of the kills in this film well and truly standout out from all of the other kills in alot of other slasher films that are being released this year as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Overall while this film isn't really a good end to the X trilogy which given that Ti West is currently possibly developing a fourth film in the series does make sense it's also not as good as both X and Pearl where and instead feels like a weak end to a really strong trilogy of films in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then  i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official X Franchise fandom wiki page , the official Scream fandom wiki page , Tenor and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images really simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and really plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images really were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we really always do with really our one and really true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

X Film Review

One of the most underrated horror films in recent memory is also the film that not only has a prequel film out but also has a sequel film out this Friday. With both this film and it's prequel film having been released in the exact same year and well then with the third film due out this Friday it was only right that the tie in review fro that film also be the first film in the series and so then join me as I review the film that technically has to scream queen in it with the film in question being called simply just "X" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a bunch of adult film filmmakers arrive at Texas farm to film there next movie they discover that there's something far more sinister going on with the farm elderly couple owners. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then  in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films plot being honestly really refreshing as it gives us a new twist on the slasher genre whilst at the same time also playing out alot of the tropes that were and still are seen today in alot of slasher films as well with the films plot also giving us a story that whilst could have been alot better is also an oddly refreshing in some cases new story as well which really is something that the makers of the film really didn't have to do as they could have gave the exact same slasher plot from those seen in the eighties and the film really would have been a very passable film but they went out of there way to give us a new story to tell in the slasher genre with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is future scream queen Mia Goth as Maxine Minx and Pearl and future scream queen Jenna Ortega as Lorraine Day. Also starring in this film is Brittany Snow as Bobby-Lynne Parker , one of this films producers Scott Mescudi as Jackson Hole , Martin Henderson as Wayne Gilroy , Owen Campbell as RJ Nichols , Stephen Ure as Howard , Simon Prast as The Televangelist and James Gaylyn as Sheriff Dentler.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally tought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films cast turning in some truly wonderful performances with the actors that you expect a good performance from really delivering on the acting side however what makes the acting truly standout is the fact that you also get good acting from those that you don't expect a good performance from like the films producer and singer Scott Mescudi as Jackson Hole who really does turn in a good performance in this film with the true standout performer in this film really being Mia Goth as she really does deliver two great performances in tis film is both Maxine Minx and Pearl with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films cast have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this film.

To be frank this film does have a bunch of a characters that are both extremely likeable when they need to be an extremely unlikable when they need to be as well. With the best of example of this oddly enough being Pearl herself who for the vast majority of the films running time is presented as someone who is just the stereotypical old woman who doesn't always know what she's doing and that is something that makes her enduring to us the audience and as a result of that is the fact that when it turns out that she's one of the films killers it makes everything that she's done up until that point all the more creepy and when it is revelled that she's one of the killers she immediately switches from being a likable character to being an unlikable character with the opposite being true for Maxine who at first starts out as being fairly unlikable but when the time comes we find out that she's willing to help her friends out which does make her more likable as a character and it's the same thing for all of this films characters as well.

As alot of you will know both this film and it's prequel were basically being made at the exact same time as when Pearl was in pre-production this film was in production. That is an absolutely insane thing to do as it takes such alot of work to get one film of the ground and yet with this film they had to basically get another film of the ground whilst also filming the first film that just goes to show you that A24 and this films writer , director and producer Ti West really did have alot of faith in not only the Pearl character but in this film as well as expanding upon this film whilst it was still being made is just a crazy thing and it's something that did pay off as alot of people really did love the film Pearl and they grew even more in love with the Pearl character and the world that both of these films take place in as well and it's something that could so easily have backfired if either this film or if Pearl weren't that good of a film and yet because of all of the care and attention that was put into the film not only from an acting point of view but also from a writing and directing point of view as well it weas pretty much a given that this film was going to be a really good film and that people would want to see more of these characters.

This film is pretty much a throwback to slasher films of the seventies and eighties with this film following alot of the tropes that were present in alot of slasher films from both of those two time periods. With that in mind while this film does indeed have alot of the old slasher tropes it does them with a knowing nudge and wink to the past that it makes those tropes feel new and different again but at the same time tho they are still tropes that you can see coming a mile away and while the twist of having someone who would traditionally be the final girl in Jenna Oretega's Lorraine Day be killed of in favour of someone who would more traditionally be killed of early on in the film was a great idea as it's something that does keep you on your toes or it would if it happened earlier on in the film and yet it doesn't which means that the twist doesn't have alot of time to have the desired effect of keeping the audience on your toes and making you wonder who could die next as if that twist happened earlier on in the film that we the audience really would be left wondering who would be killed of next as someone who would be traditionally be the final girl of earlier slasher films.

While the films killers Howard and Pearl are some really good killers from an idea point of view what let's them both down. As the fact that neither of them are given a reason to start killing people which while yes granted is something that is further expanded upon in Pearl it's also something that should have been done in this film as this is the first time that we the audience are getting the chance to see these killers and yet there not being given a reason to start killing people which means that when they do start killing people it really does come out of nowhere and it's something that does hinder them as on paper having this elderly couple turn out to be killers is a good idea but the film makers really did still need to do the most basic of things with those characters like giving them a reason to start killing people and while Pearl is made out to be really unlikable and has a ton of personality Howard on the other hand is the complete opposite with him coming across more of being a blank slate and only killing people not because of the fact that it's in his character but because the script demands that he be a killer in this film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty six minuets and twenty seconds. Which was pretty much the perfect running tome for this film to have as alot of slasher from the seventies and eighties also clocked in at around this same running time as well and to this films credit it really does have more enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time and the film does take as full advantage of that running time as it quite possibly could have done and while the film would have been alot more better of if it have a much more longer running time as that would mean that the alot of the characters would get alot more character development then what they get in the final cut of the film it would also mean that this film which is already a slow burner would then be forced to have alot of filler scenes in it and that is something that really would bog down the films pacing quite badly as well but I will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that means that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presenetd to us in this very film well then in all hone sty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However that's also the problem as the kills that are in this film despite having some artistic merit to some of them just aren't that good either which granted could be the point as the films killers are two people who quite possibly in there eighties and so they wouldn't be moving as fast as they would have done when they were say for example in there forties but at the same time tho there really could have been some really more creative kills then what we got in this film and while we do get some good kills in his film those are very few and far between with the film having alot more kills that are nothing more then OK best then it does have some actually good kills in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film does indeed try to do something new with the slasher genre by giving us a character that traditionally wouldn't be the final girl and by giving elderly slasher killers the film also does somewhat crumble under it's own weight as it has so many good ideas that aren't given the time that they need to fully shine when they really should have done as it would made the film alot more better then what it actually ended up being in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
