Scary Movie 2026 Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

The art of the parody was one that was long thought to be dead and buried thanks to films like Meet The Spartans and oddly enough the last Scary Movie film. Yet with the world of horror being more popular now then its ever been The Wayans Brothers have been handed the key back to the franchise that they started in the first place and well you all knew that I had to check this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that does cross alot of lines with the film in question being called simply just "Scary Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is twenty six years after the events of the first Cindy and her daughters Sara and Tuesday along with there friends have to team up with Doofy , Brenda , Shorty and Ray to find out who this new killer is and stop them once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Without giving away that much about the films plot you can tell right away just from what film is being spoofed here and it is oddly fitting as the first film also spoofed the first film of that particular franchise as well. This films plot is one that is done really well as it does give you all of things that you want to see in a Scary Movie plot as these films did more often then not just spoof what was popular in horror films at that time which in this case is legacy sequels and to be fair to this film this is something that this films plot does handle really well with the plot not only tipping its hat to the first two films in ways that do feel respectful but also in just being a fun filled plot with the thing that does let his films plot down is the fact that it does feel a little bit on weaker side say what you will about the first films plot but you never really knew where it was going whereas here you do know where its going and that does make the plot of this films feel that little bit more predictable but given just how bad the movie industry is right now maybe that's something that we need with te plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is one of this films co-writers and producers Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks and one of this films co-writers and producers Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins. Also starring in this film is Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell , Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks , Damon Wayans Jr. as Agent Underwood , Gregg Wayans as Brad Meeks , Kim Wayans as Nurse Ratchett , Benny Zielke as Jess , Cameron Scott Roberts as Jack , Cheri Oteri as Gail Hailstorm , Chris Elliott as Shorthand , Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore and the voice of Ghostface , Heidi Gardner as Agent Berger , Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillippe , Olivia Rose Keegan as Sara Campbell , Ruby Snowber as Val , Savannah Lee Nassif as Tuesday Campbell and Sydney Park as Dei Meeks.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. This films acting really is just so good with all of this films actors both returning and new really nailing there characters with the new actors really getting just who there characters are meant to be spoofing with them kind of mimicking those performances like what they did back in Scary Movie 1 and with the new actors it really does feel like that they've just got through playing these characters before starting work on this film as they just slip so easily back into those characters with them picking up right where they left of performance wise. With the best actor in this film being Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks as she really does turn in a great performance as this character with her keeping Brenda the exact same way as she was back in the first film only now she's more warmer to Cindy with Regina along with Anna Faris getting alot of really funny lines in this film with Regina's performance being so good that you could mistake her for being the lead character in the film with her having alot of really good chemistry not just with the returning actors but also the new actors as well, her performance in the film is also the one that does feel the most real as we see that Brenda now has twins and we see her struggle to keep them alive in her own Brenda way which is something that does shine through in her performance in this film. With the acting that's in this very film also being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

When it comes to the films characters this is a very much a film of two halves as while the original characters are still very much there old selves the same thing cannot be said for the films newer characters. As they do feel much feel like the characters that they are meant to be spoofing with there being very little added to them to make them feel like fully formed characters and infact you could make the case that the films new characters don't feel like Scary Movie characters but rather they feel like the characters you would expect to see in films like Epic Movie or Meet The Spartans as they are that dull and lifeless. Whereas with the returning characters they all do feel like they did back in the first film which for a character like Ray is something that is surprising as given that these days you would expect a character like him to be toned down as to not offend anyone here it oddly feels like he's been tuned all the way up and its something that does work as this is a film that does take aim at every one and everything and that's good as that's how a film like this one should be. While Cindy was very much Sidney Prescott in the first film here she is a mixture of 2018 Laurie Strode along with the Grandma character from Final Destination: Bloodlines and Sidney Prescott and that is something that on paper shouldn't work and yet it is something that does oddly work for her character as her character was all about taking on whatever character trope was popular in horror at that time where as Brenda is still just herself in all of the best ways possible and Shorty is now a streamer who literally gets paid for doing nothing which again is perfect for his character and if the makers of this film did put as much thought and effort into there new characters as they did the old ones then we would have some really memorable and funny characters in this film.

SPOIERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In what is something that could be seen as being a weird move this film not only makes references to the second Scary Movie film but also takes jabs at Scary Movies 3 and 4. This is something that none of the other films have done in the past with each film pretty much taking place in it's separate universe with only a few things carrying over but given that the second film was last time that any one of The Wayans Brothers was involved with the franchise it does make sense that they would tip there hat to that film with even the character of Shorthand being confused for the character of Hansen from that film yet the thing that doesn't make sense being the fact that they take shots at the third and fourth films whilst also ignoring the fifth one. As again this is something that none of the other films have done and yet it is something that does feel like The Wayans Brothers are taking aim at The Weinsteins as they did force them out of the franchise and made the rest of the films without them but by having The Wayans Brothers take aim at those films it does feel a tad bit childish as it wasn't something that was needed but to be fair tho the makers of this film did do the right thig by having Anna Farris be the one to deliver those jabs as you can tell in those films that she is struggling to make them funny where as here in this film it does feel like she's being set free, just to go back to the nod to the second film for a minuet instead of making Shorthand be someone who looks like Hansen they should have made him Hansen as even tho he is in the one scene the character does look a lot like him and he was a fan favorite character from that film so they very easily could have made the characters the same character with Shorthand being a name that he's gone by to avoid detection which would have been a good idea and if they wanted to make it funny you could have it be a disguise that doesn't work with people just calling him Hansen with him saying that that's not his name.

As you might be able to work out from the title this film is spoofing Scream 2022 and with that does come alot of cameos as we get Kenan Thompson as Jermaine Jackson , Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze , Teyana Taylor as herself , horror icon Felissa Rose , Anthony Anderson as himself , Carmen Electra as a bartender , Shaquille O'Neal as himself with both Anthony Anderson and Shaquille O'Neal playing two of this films four killers with the other two being Ray and Shorty, the cameos in this film where things that did work as while they do draw attention to themselves alot of the time that is also part of the joke with both Carmen and Teyana making a joke about them both being in the opening scene of a Scary Movie film. With this film mainly spoofing Scream 2022 they do kind of go the obvious route with Bobby by having him be Sara's dad with Sara obviously being the Tara stand in and thankfully they don't go all the way with it as that would mean that they wouldn't be able to have there fun and poke fun at that film and Scream VI with alot of the films cameos essentially being there just to riff on Scream someone more with the only cameo that was disappointing being the Felissa Rose cameo as she only appears standing behind Cindy during the Terrifer 3 mall scene spoof and she never says a single line of dialog which does feel like a waste as if your going to go out of way to get horror royalty in your film for cameo then why not have her poke fun at her mist iconic role Angela Baker as that then would have been somewhat funny to see and it would have given the younger audience that are watching this film a character to go and look up which just that in of itself would have been funny to see there reactions to finding out the twist ending to Sleepaway Camp and yet the makers of this film don't really do anything with her heck at least with all of the other cameos they do make jokes and have them do some funny stuff in the film but with Felissa Rose they don't do anything with her which just feels weird as she is most well known horror actor in this film.

For some reason this film chose to copy Scream 7 by having a bad Ghostface reveal and while that is something that wasn't intended to be funny in that film in this film that is very much the idea. As we do find out that there are four killers in this film with them being Anthony Anderson , Shaquille O'Neal , Ray and Shorty with the film going over the top with it's reveals as we do first find out that it could be Val who is the killer along with Jack which is something that would have been in line with the film that they were meant to be spoofing but then the flip on its head by having it two of them be these people that we haven't seen in the film with the other two being legacy characters. Heck even the killers motives are all meant to be seen as a joke as they are all tired of black people being killed of in horror films not being the main killer with both Shaquille O'Neal and Anthony Anderson being upset that out of all of the characters that they did bring back neither one of them was asked back in the first place which is a very funny and very tongue in cheek idea that it does work and while yes the original films main killer reveal wasn't that impressive either as they didn't take the time to give us clues as to who the main killers where even tho they were repeating alot of line from Scream word for word alot of the time here tho as there not really doing that in this film they could have taken the time the give us some clues as to who the killers are as even tho they quite literally tell us that Jack is a killer with him being named after Jack Quaid from Scream 2022 they still really could have given clues that made us think that there really is someone working with Jack only to then reveal that those clues are actually for the films real killers as that would have been a great way to put a Scary Movie style twist on the killer reveal from that film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty five minuets and forty five seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for this franchise as alot of the films did have very similar running times to them and to be fair to this film it really did need that amount of running time just due to the fact that it did have alot of characters to both introduce and reintroduce and it couldn't do that and still tell a good and funny story with a running time that is even ten minuets shorter as something would be lost with the film even having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet this film does kind of not use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot which in all fairness was something that it really didn't need to do as it was just copying the plot of Scream 2022 and therefor it really didn't need to have a well developed plot it still would have been nice if the makers of this film did add things to this films plot that would have made it feel more like a film that could stand on its own without the parody aspect which is something that very much is the case with the first film as if you remove the fact that it is copying the plots of both Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer that films plot does still stand up on it's own where as here it does feel like that since that not that much if anything was added to the plot to make it more thought and developed that if you remove the fact that its spoofing Scream 2022 then the the film just falls apart with it being made obvious the makers of this film did care more about the cameos then they did about giving us a more well thought out plot. Much like with the first film this is something that does kind of effect the films characters as well as none of them get any kind of character development which in all fairness is something that is also true for the first film as well but they still could have gone the extra mile to give these new characters especially some form of character development just to help them feel all the more memorable as characters but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I gave to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film spoofing films like M3GAN , Final Destination: Bloodlines , Michael , Scream 2022, Scream VI , Weapons , Sinner and oddly enough K-Pop: Demon Hunters among many other films but yeah alot of this films parodies do work and while yes granted there not as good as the parodies were in the first Scary Movie film as there you could tell that the makers of that film did have a deep love of horror as whole there is still more effort and more thought in this films parodies then ay of the films that were made by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. With the best joke in the whole entire film being in the third act when all of the main returning characters decide that they've have enough if franchises being ruined by kids and decide to take this franchise back by killing of alot of the remaining kids in this film in a house fire but it doesn't end there as when they think that they've made it out alive with all of there clothes still intact the camera that cuts around to the back of them to reveal that only the front parts of there clothes survive with everything on the back being burned which is a great little twist to add to things and the fact that none of the characters mention anything about it being cold or there being a draft is something that is the cherry on top with it being made clear as day that the makers of this film really did put alot of thought and effort into that one joke alone with the rest of this films jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall whilst the first two films are still the best films in this franchise this film is easily better then movies 3 through 5 as it does have that heart and spirit and that made those first two films stand out in the first place while we have both this film and the new Masters Of The Universe film out this week go and see both films as they are both alot more better then alot of the more modern Hollywood films really are with this film proving that it doesn't matter if you offend people as along as your funny and that is something that really is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review then that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Scary Movie 2000 Film Review

For as long as horror movies have been popular there have always been willing to parody them and poke fun at alot of there tropes. With none doing that better then The Wayans Brothers with them setting the gold standard for what a horror parody should be so much so that here is a new entry coming out in a franchise that they started with them returning to write and produce the film and so then join me as I review the film that gives us a really good Scream parody with the film in question being called simply just "Scary Movie" enjoy.

The plot of this film is one year after they killed someone Cindy and her friends find themselves being stalked by someone who knows there secret. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Whilst this films main plot does make it look like that they are mainly spoofing I Know What You Did Last Summer the films plot does serve more as a parody of horror films from the nineties with the plot of this film being to able to weave in the parody in a way that does make sense unlike films like Date Movie or Epic Movie where it felt like they were stopping the plot of the film to do the parody. Granted tho this films plot is a bit on the weak side with it being quite hard to tell just what he main plot of this film is even meant to be alot of the time however tho this isn't always seen as a bad thing as it does allow the film to squeeze in some more jokes and have more funny moments with the characters and not be bogged down buy having to explain away things in the plot which is something that it would have had to have done if the makers of this film did choose to put alot more focus on the plot of the film and while yes having more of a focus on the films plot is a good thing it's not really needed to make this films plot work in the first place as the characters and the jokes are more then good enough that it does make you forget just how wafer thin that this films plot is with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and one of this films co-writers Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks. Also starring in this film is Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze , Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore , Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks , one of this films co-writers Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins , Shannon Elizabeth as Buffy Gilmore , Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillippe , Cheri Oteri as Gail Hailstorm , Kurt Fuller as Sheriff Burke , Carmen Electra as Drew Decker , Rick Ducommun as Neil Campbell , Jayne Trcka as Miss Mann , Kelly Coffield Park as A Teacher , David L. Lander as Principal 'Squiggy' Squiggman , Andrea Nemeth as Heather , Marissa Jaret Winokur as Tina , this films director Keenen Ivory Wayans as A Slave , Tanja Reichert as Miss Congeniality , Ted Cole as Older Man In Theater and James Van Der Beek as Dawson Leery.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. The fact that this films acting is as good as it is in the first place is something that both not all that surprising but also entirely surprising as while we know today that alot of these actors are really funny people we didn't know that back in 2000 with none of this films not even being that well known therefore it was still surprising that we got to see some really good and funny performances in this film as it is something that we very easily could have had if the makers of this film chose the wrong people to be in this film. With the best actor in this film being Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell as even back in the year 2000 she was still giving us alot of laughs in this film with making what could have been seen as a character that's nothing more then a Sidney Prescott knock off character which to be fair she pretty much is in this film yet she still make her feel like her own unique character that while yes she can be seen as being dim and not all that smart but she is the only one who right from the get go is willing to do the right thing with her even being the kind of kind of character that would do her best to help her friends with all of these things coming through in her final performance and it is something that does make her performance in this film be all the more better then what it really had any right to be. With the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Character wise much like with the films acting the films characters are alot more better then what they could have been. While Cindy is pretty much a more dimmed down version of Sidney from Scream that is pretty much the point of her character as alot of this films characters are meant to be spoofs of the characters from Scream with Bobby and Ray and being Billy and Stu respectively and Buffy and Brenda share the character of Tatum with no one really being the Randy character and yet these are things that do work for this film as the whole point of this film is lovingly lampoon Scream and other horror films of the nineties and alot of that does include having these self referential character that are fully aware of the fact that they in a horror film. Yet at the same time the characters are unique enough that if you remove the character that that are meant to be lampooning they do still stand on there own with the only thing that does let the characters down is the fact that you do know where each character is going just based on who they are lampooning when it would have helped the film alot more if we the audience had no idea where each character was going to end up as that would allow the characters the chance to actually grow as characters and for the makers of this film to have alot more fun at the expense of the characters from Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer as alot of this films characters do spoof these characters and yet it's not done in a meanspirited way rather it's done in a way that does say that these characters are making fun of these other characters but our characters aren't that good and that's really it, with alot of the characters having other sides to them that do make them feel more fleshed out like Buffy can be a snob sometimes but she's the first one to notice that Greg is in serious trouble and does try to do something about and it's the same for alot of this films main characters which is something that really does make feel more well thought out then other parody characters.

As was mentioned this film does mainly spoof both the original I Know What You Did Last Summer and the original Scream. However there are alot of parodies in this film and all of them do feel right as there not only spoofing things that were popular for five minuets like they did in the later Scary Movie sequels but there spoofing films that alot of people still know about to this day like The Usual Suspects with it's big ending reveal or the fact that they do a brief but still pretty funny spoof of The Blair Witch Project and heck it's not even just horror films that get spoofed as they reference Dawson's Creek among other things and yet none of them feel out of place as they are all woven into the plot on the film in an organic way. Whereas in later parody movies they would just parody anything even if they haven't seen the thing that there making fun off whereas here it does feel like that the makers of this film did fully understand that they had to make the parody work and because of that it does come across as them having a love for the thing that they are meant to be spoofing with alot of the things that they are spoofing being things that are still being talked about to this very day. This is something that does set this film apart from other parody movies that came out after this film as alot of them had the premise of only spoofing one certain type of movie but would then involve other pop culture references for no reason here outside of few parodies to TV adverts and one TV show they do mainly stick to horror and while the plot of the film does make it seem like they would just be spoofing slasher films they really don't as they just poke fun at alot of the popular films that came out in the nineties and while it would have worked just as well to see them spoof some classic slasher tropes in the way that Scream itself would do just spoofing these more popular films is something that does work as well as it is something that alot of the mainstream audience would know about.

In what is something that could be seen as being an understandable move this films central mystery isn't all that good. This is something that does make sense as the film is meant to be more of comedy then a mystery film and therefor the makers of this film didn't put alot of thought and effort into there mystery as they would have been putting all of that love and attention to the films jokes which is understandable however tho there did still need to be some love and thought given to this films mystery something which they could have done by giving us clues so that we the audience could have worked out who the killers of the films are but instead of doing it in a more subtle way like they did in the first Scream film they could have done in a way that makes sense for this film. That being make the clues as over the top and as obvious as they could have done and to be fair to this film it is something that do try do by having the character of Bobby straight recite lines from the first Scream film word for word but they don't go all the way with it by having Ray also do that exact same thing alot of the time as the only time that ray does is during the big reveal whereas Bobby does it quite alot of the time. This is something that really does make it obvious that these two are the films killers and it is something that would have made sense for this film and yet they don't do it rather they instead chose to focus more on fart jokes then on giving us a more well thought out but still funny mystery with the only big thing to come out of the film during the big reveal was the reveal of a third killer which is a good idea and the fact that we don't get to find out what his motive is is something that does make that idea slightly more funny then what it really should have been.

The film does give both Bobby and Ray reasons for taking up the Ghostface mantle with the reasons being as funny as you'd expect with Bobby just wanting to get laid and Ray being upset that his favorite TV show "The Wayans Bros." was cancelled without even getting a proper final episode both of these reasons whilst they are dumb reasons in the first place are perfectly in keeping with the rest of the film as the film is all about pushing what you can do with a parody and then doing the most stupidest thing that you can do with and this is something that the killers motives do do with even Bobby's motive being something that could be seen as being a direct correlation of him being a spoof of Billy Loomis as Billy did spend a good chuck of the that first Scream film trying to get laid. As for Ray his reason to be a killer is something that is just pure comedy gold as let's be real here we have all gotten upset over the fact that our favorite TV show has gotten cancelled at some point in time with the thing that makes it funnier being the fact that Ray's actor Shawn Wayans not only created "The Wayans Bros." but also starred in it with Marlon Wayans with the pair of them even singing the shows opening theme song, this is something that does make that reason to be a killer be all the more funny as it feels alot less like a person being angry that there favorite TV show was cancelled but more like that one of the creator and stars of that show was angry that it got cancelled before they had a chance to finish it off properly and yet neither character does come across as being truly evil whereas with Billy and Stu once you get to around about the half way mark of that first Scream film you do see them acting more and more evil but here in this film you see Bobby and Ray just being there typical likable selves which is something that does make the big reveal be all the more shocking and while the second film just straight up ignored it it was a really well done reveal.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty eight minuets and twenty eight seconds. This is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for a film like this one to have and to be fair to this film it is pretty much the perfect running time for this film to have as the film doesn't have alot of things to set up outside of it's characters and mystery as we don't need to know how this films world works as it's a clear parody of the world of Scream and we don't need to have alot of backstory given to us as that would get in the way of the films jokes with the film even having the ight amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place. However tho this film doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely due to the fact that the film really doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot and whilst this is understandable as this film was meant to be a one and done film and therefor the makers of this film did devote more time to it's jokes which does result in the film having less time to develop it's plot it still would have been nice if the makers of this film did devote more time to its plot as then the makers of this film would be able to make a film that does stand on its own if you remove the parody aspect of it with this being something that doesn't happen as the film is so closely linked to spoofing both I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream that you can't think of this film without thinking of those films and yet if the film did give more time to it's plot the film would be able to stand more on its own. This is somethin that does kind of effect the films character development as while the films characters don't get that much character development in the final cut of the film one could make the case that that's the point of these characters as they are meant to be spoofs of other better characters but it still would have been nice if this film did devote more time to making its characters be more well thought and developed but the makers of this film cared more about the jokes then they did about giving the characters any kind of character development but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Look to be frank alot of this films especially the ones that they make about Ray as funny as they are they are also the kinds of jokes that would stop this film from being made today abut on a more positive side the film does through so many jokes at you that it really doesn't matter if they tell a bad joke because by the time they've told that one bad joke they've quickly followed it up with two of three really funny jokes. With the films best joke being the whole scene with Brenda and Ray at the movies as the whole thing is just one big parody of the opening scene from Scream 2 even down to the fact that Brenda just doesn't shut up even when the movie is playing with it being this that sees her get killed not by Ghostface but by all of the other theater goers with alot of them even getting there own quick quip about she ruined another movie screening that they were at which is just such a funny scene as it does flip that whole Scream 2 opening scene on its head by just pointing out how funny a scene like that could very easily have become and while the next film does retcon that scene out the fact that it is was included in the film in the first place is more then enough to make it a funny joke with the thing that takes it over the top being the fact that Regina Hall is just so funny in that scene with her acting as obnoxious as Brenda could be without it getting to the point where the character becomes unlikable with the rest of the films jokes being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while the new film does seem to be a return to form for this ailing franchise given how the reactions have gone to just the films trailers alone. That doesn't mean that this film really is lacking as this is film is still just as funny today as it was back in 2000 with this film proving that parody films really can be funny when there being made by the right creative team in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as ell as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Scary Movie 2 Review

Now then horror fans you've seen me review alot of horror movies but you've never seen me review a parody horror movie before. Well that ends now as I only have one of those in my DVD collection and trust me when I tell you it was pretty freaking deep in my DVD collection and honestly I forgot that I even had this movie in the first place and so then horror fans here is my review of "Scary Movie 2" enjoy.

The plot of the movie is one year after the events of the first film Cindy , Brenda , Shorty and Ray find themselves in college and for a class assignment they and several over students , there professor and his assistant go to haunted house and must survive when they realise the house has a poltergeist. I honesty found the plot to be rather enjoyable to me the story is just the right amount of stupid which for a parody movie is always a good thing.

Returning from the previous film are franchise stars Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks also returning is franchise co-creators / co-writers and co-executive producers all for this film by the way Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks and Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins. Joining them are Christopher Masterson as Buddy Sanderson , Kathleen Robertson as Theo , the best part of the live action Alvin And The Chipmunks films David Cross as Dwight Hartman , James Woods as Father McFeely , the best part of any or TV show he's in Tim Curry as Professor Oldman , Tori Spelling as Alex Monday and Chris Elliott as Hanson.

Now then for me the most important thing when judging a comedy is do the actors give a funny performance. Which yeah alot of the actors in this film do and given that they got actually funny people to write the script and have a cast that we know can get us to laugh and who know how to make us laugh that really shouldn't come as surprise to anyone and it's those funny performances that really carry the film in my opinion.

Now this film is the last film that had The Wayans Brothers both Shawn and Marlon as well as there brother films director and other creator  Keenen Ivory Wayans. Judging from the fact that i've seen at least one of the later sequels I can safely say that if a sixth film was to be produced then the studio would need to get these guys back because they get this franchise perfectly and they now what the best joke is in any scene of the film.

I honestly do feel that this family is perfect for the Scary Movie franchise because not only do they know how to make us laugh. They also know that the joke isn't what's being parodied it's what's being said or what's happening that's the funny part and that's something that alot of parody films just don't understand they seem to think that whatever they are spoofing is what's funny while at the same time not writing any jokes.

I have to say that out of the new characters I honestly liked Chris Elliott's Hanson simply due to the fact that the character was so out there and pretty funny. Which is something that alot of the newer characters just weren't at least for me don't get me wrong the new characters were acted well enough but very few of them could get me laughing which is something Hanson did at least once in every scene he was in.

Unlike the first film which poked fun at the slasher genre the most famous parody of cause being the then recently released film Scream. This film pokes fun at the supernatural genre of horror films which I honestly thought was a very interesting thing to d since it would have been very easy for them to poke fun at slasher sequels and just go nuts with that but the fact that they took an a different sub genre of horror films I thought was a brave move to make.

This film is actually alot shorter then what it really should have been since it's just under eighty minuets long. Which for me is a huge issues since it means that things like the story and the characters can't be developed as fully as they can be since the film has to pack in all of these jokes and still tell a decent story as such I feel that this film really should have been at least an hours and a half maybe even an hour and forty minuets just so they can develop the characters and the story alot better which is something that they can't do with the very freaking short running time that they have.

Now then this is a comedy and so that means that we have to talk about the jokes that are in the film itself. Which I feel is the film's aspect since the film is honestly really funny and like I said what makes this film funny isn't the fact that there spoofing something popular and that's the joke it's the fact that they have funny things going on when making that parody and that to me makes a huge difference since it makes the first two Scary Movie films actually good parody movies instead of movies that are just cashing in on whatever's popular at the time of production.

Overall this film is easily the best out of the Scary Movie sequels simply due to the fact that it's actually trying to be funny. I'm not going to lie and say that this film is perfect because honestly that would be freaking stupid and as you can see by the fact that I listed some issues with the film I found there to be quite alot of issues all of which needed to be fixed but weren't as such this film gets a 7 out of 10 from this horror fan.

All images used in this review were gathered from either the official Scary Movie fandom wiki page or Google Images. I honestly cannot recommend either website for high definition images for this film which I kind of expected would be the fact since this film came out in 2001 and so to expect any high definition images would be insane and so we end this review as we always do with our one true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very unpleasant dreams.
