The Monkey Film Review

There are dozens of movies that are based off of Stephan King books out there but Hollywood has started to adapt his short stories as well. As the master of horror himself really does like to make normal things seem alot more scary then what they actually are so then with one of those films just being released and it's the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today and so then join me as I review the film that really does try to make a toy monkey scary with the film in question being called simply just "The Monkey" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when two brothers discover that there toy monkey can kill people at random the two set out to destroy it once and for all. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us inn this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it's a plot that we really havn't seen before now with this films plot being oddly refreshing because of it and with this film being both written and directed by Osgood Perkins it's also a plot that's told really well with the film taking the time that it needs to set up it's plot and it's characters instead of just rushing through all of that something that would have been very easy to have done and while it is tempting to see where this film fits within the crazy of the Stephen King Universe what makes this films plot standout is the fact that it's not afraid to be this weird and goofy movie something that even the best Stephen King films are afraid to be and yet because of the fact that this films plot does involve a killer monkey it feels organic when this films plot does go into those weird moments which is something that does allow for this films plot to no only be unpredictable but also really fun as well with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Theo James as Hal and Bill Shelburn and Christian Convery as Young Hal and Bill. Also starring in this film is Tatiana Maslany as Lois Shelburn , Colin O'Brien as Petey Shelburn Jr. , Rohan Campbell as Ricky , Sarah Levy as Ida Zimmer , Adam Scott as Petey Shelburn Sr. , this films writer and director Osgood Perkins as Chip Zimmer , Tess Degenstein as Barbara , Danica Dreyer as Annie Wilkes , Laura Mennell as Hal's ex-wife and Elijah Wood as Ted Hammerman.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films actors turning in some really good performances with it being shocking that they didn't hire four sets of actors to play Hal and Bill and instead chose just to have the two actors with them both playing both roles and that is something that does work really well for this film as both of the actors manage to make both characters separate from one another and visually look different enough from one another that we the audience can easily tell them apart and while the rest of this films actors do indeed turn in some really good performances as well with the same thing also being true for Elijah Wood the best actor in this film is actually a tie between both Theo James and Christian Convery as while playing one character is hard enough there playing two characters at the same time with Theo playing the older version of the films main characters and Christian playing there younger counterparts which means that there jobs are now even harder as they keep there performances the same as each other to create continuity in the films performances something that both do with incredible ease with the acting that's in this film really being helped buy this films script as the the script for this film is just so good that all this films have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

The characters in this film to be frank aren't the best characters however that is something that could more a fault with the short story then it is this film. As with a short story you don't really have the time needed to fully develop your characters and we know from Longlegs that Osgood Perkins can create some really good characters when he wants to and yet because of the fact that he's adapting a short story he just can't create good characters as none of this films characters stand out as being particularly interesting or scary with the same thing also being true for the films main heroes as well as even tho there character arc is interesting the characters themselves just aren't that fun to watch with the worst offender of this being Petey Shelburn Jr. who despite the fact that he's acted really well by Colin O'Brien just isn't that interesting of a character with him being Hal's son which is also something that seems to be his whole personality as there's nothing to his character outside of the fact that his father is trying to stop this evil monkey from killing people and that's really it and that's not enough to make him an interesting an while his arc with Hal does mirror Hal's arc with Bill it's not done in a way that makes the characters interesting with all of this films characters being nothing more then one dimensional characters which is something that does make sense as the short stories writer Stephan King really can't write characters that are two dimensional and as this film is based off of one of his own short stories it makes sense that his characters be just as bland and uninteresting in the film adaptation.

Not only is this film based off of the short story of the exact same name with the short story originally being published in 1980 as a booklet that was included in Gallery magazine it was then revised and published again five years later in the Stephan King shorts collection called Skeleton Crew. With according the short stories Wikipedia page the short story is very vastly different then the version that we got in this film as for starters there's no Bill or Randy in the story it's just Hal and Petey with Hal instead being an only child who still does discover the monkey but after some killings and accidents happed one of which involves Hals best friend Jimmy Hal hides the money in a dry wall only for it still to reappear years later with Hal and Petey having to drive to Crystal Lake to leaving to drown in the lake itself none of which is present in this film which is understandable as that original ending does sound rather lame and not cinematic but given that the short story did receive a revision in 1985 by Stephan King himself it is possible that all of the things tat are in the film were then added into the short story or it's possible that what's listen on the short stories Wikipedia page does one from the revised version of the story and not the original form of the story but lets hope that Stephan King did make the story better as it doesn't sound like it's going to be all that scary of a read even in it's original short story format.

In what could be seen as being a wise move this films director Osgood Perkins did choose to add in humor to the story. Which is something that does make alot of sense as this is after all a story about a killer toy monkey so by all rights this should have alot of jokes in it and while it was done to make it stand out from all f the super dark serious Stephan King adaptations out there it is something that given it's premise does make alot of sense as there's no way that you can treat a story like this seriously given that it's killer is a toy monkey with him even saying in an interview with Empire "I took liberties like a motherf*****. They [Atomic Monster] had a very serious script. Very serious. I felt it was too serious, and I told them: 'This doesn't work for me. The thing with this toy monkey is that the people around it all die in insane ways. So, I thought: Well, I'm an expert on that.' Both my parents died in insane, headline-making ways. I spent a lot of my life recovering from tragedy, feeling quite bad. It all seemed inherently unfair. You personalize the grief: 'Why is this happening to me?' But I'm older now and you realize this sh** happens to everyone. Everyone dies. Sometimes in their sleep, sometimes in truly insane ways, like I experienced. But everyone dies. And I thought maybe the best way to approach that insane notion is with a smile." which is something that does work for this film and while yes this film does have alot of humor in it none of it undercuts the tension of the scene rather it instead adds tension to the scene as we the audience know that something bad is going to happen and seeing the characters cope with that by telling joke is something that works really well in this film.

If last year was the year of really great horror films where almost every one that came out minus one or two was a great film. This year seems to be the complete opposite as so fay this year all of the horror films that have been released have firstly been films that see classic kids characters get turned into slasher villains but have also been really bad with this one actually being quite good and all of that comes down to the fact that they have a creative team that not only knows how to make a good movie but are also willing to take a chance and tell an original story with an original villain and not use a character that was created around one hundred years ago and while yes there is some merit to be found in those cheaply made films here it's also something that really does prove that if you want to see a good horror film then you don't look towards Sony or 20th Century Fox for example you look towards the more smaller studios as they are the ones that are taking chances on smaller scale films like this one which wouldn't be made by a major studio due to how out there it's main concept is but because of the fact that this film was made by a smaller studio it means that the makers of this film can go as out there with the film as they want to and still turn in a film that's as true to the director original vision as is humanly possible something that just wouldn't be possible as a major studio as they would have cut things out of this film and interfered with the making of this film in order to make it as marketable as is humanly possible.

Without giving to much away there are certain aspects of this film in regards to it's plot that could be seen as being predictable. This is something that does hurt the the characters arcs of both Hal and Bill as you know right away where this films is going with there characters arcs and not only does it go there it goes there the exact same way that you thought it would which despite it being a very well done arc in it's right does make it boring to watch as what's the point in watching something when you've not only worked out where it's going but the film also goes to that exact same place surely the wisest thing to do would be to turn it on it's head and make you think that it's going one way only for it instead to take a left turn and go another way that you never even thought of in the first place as that then also gives us the audience a reason to rewatch the film to see if we can spot any clues that might have been hidden in the film and yet by going to that exact conclusion it robs the film of any kind of replay ability factor as now we have no reason to rewatch or reply this movie as all of the films characters arcs are fairly easy to work out and this is something that could have been fixed with just a few rewrites of the script something that they did do as this final cut of the film wasn't the first time that they tried to get made and they even had a script in place when they brought on Osgood Perkins so the makers of this film aren't adverse to rewriting the films script which does make you wonder why they didn't do it here as they really could have fixed alot of the films issues if they did take the time to do a rewrite of this films script.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty one minuets. Which is a fairly solid running time for this film to have as this film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this film really doesn't use it's running time all that well as the film devotes a vast amount of it's running time just to setting up the plot when really the film should have sent no longer then ten minuets in setting up the rest of the film as this film doesn't have alot of running time to begin with and to rob it of even more time to tell it's story just by having a pointless prolog sequence that sets up the plot of the film means that now the film have to work twice as hard to get across all of the information that it needs to get across and still tell a good story in even less time then what it would have had if this film had cut down it's promo sequence by quite a bit and with the added running time the film would then be able to fully develop it's characters something that it desperately needed to do as the film doesn't rest on the plot being good as the films plot is as good as it's going to get rather it rests on the strength of the films characters which can't be that fully developed due to the fact that this film really is spending so much time of a prolog sequence that would have been more effective not only if it was spread out all throughout the film as this would make it more easier to digest but was also cut down to allow the other aspects of the film the time that they really do need to shine but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty one of the films more better aspects. As this is where this film got to be alot more fun to watch as this films kills are so over the top and so goofy that you can't help but laugh at them and fall in love with them all at the same time and it's during this films kills that the makers of this film really did take advantage of the fact that this films killer is a toy monkey and because of that they can go as over the top and as goofy with the kills as they want to as by proxy having a killer toy monkey is a funny idea and it would be really foolish of the makers of this film to not take advantage of that when it came to this films kills with it also being really hard to say just what exactly the best kill of this film even was as by rights they could all make a claim for that title as all of this films kills are just that good with the film alone being worth watching just to see just how over the top and how goofy looking alot of this films kills really are in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall out of all the horror films that have been released this year thus far this film is easily the best of the bunch but given just how bad alot of those other horror films where that's not exactly a high bar to reach but credit where it's due this film knows what kind of film it is and isn't afraid to be nothing then that with this film also having some really good acting in it something that alot of those other horror just didn't have in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally of all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Popeye's Revenge Film Review

Why is it now a thing for beloved kids characters that have only just entered the public domain to get turned into slasher villains. As now we have yet another slasher film that has a beloved kids cartoon character as it's main villain and just like with both The Mouse Trap and Mouse Of Horrors this one is also the first of at least three maybe even more movies at least two more of which are due out this year and both of which have Popeye as the main villain and so the join me as I review the film that really should have eaten more spinach with the film in question being called simply just "Popeye's Revenge" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a group of friends arrive to renovate a friends house they find themselves being stalked by mysterious person dressed in a sailors uniform. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty rather bland as it just comes comes across as being every single eighties slasher summer film plot rolled into run with a dose of the The Evil Dead's setting thrown into it with nothing new or interesting added to it which is something that does make sense as lets be honest here the main focus and selling point of these films is never going to be the plot it's going to be seeing a beloved kids cartoon character be the villain of the film but even then you still need to have a decent enough plot to keep viewers interested in your film and when you don't have all you have is a bland selling point that thanks to other similar films like this one is becoming more and more generic by the film and as such these types of films really do need to up there game when it comes to there plots say what you will about the Blood And Honey films but at least they gave some fresh new plots where as this films plot is nothing more then generic with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Emily Mogilner as Tara , Connor Powles as Dylan , Danielle Ronald as Donna and Bruno Cryan as Nick. Also starring in this film is Atlanta Moreno as Sky , Karolina Ugrenyuk as Kathy , Fyn Phoenixx as Max , Kyle Jordan as Alan , Eva Ray as Cherry , Danielle Scott as Mia , Amanda Jane York as Lora , Oliver Mason as George , Kathi DeCouto as Jane , Paul Frost as A Fisherman , Kelly Rian Sanson as Olive Oyl and Steven Murphy as Popeye.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty about as bad as you'd expect from one of these films. As this films acting whilst it is alot more better then the acting in Mickey's Mouse Hunt is still pretty bad as while it is clear as day that alot of this films actors are indeed trying to turn in a good performance alot of this films actors just feel lost with that mainly being due to the fact that this films director William Stead quite clearly has no idea just how to get a good performance out of his actors with that being something that does hold the acting acting back with his of talking to his actors to give them a good performance mainly coming from the fact that he's only directed two feature films with the rest of his filmography being made up of short films that he's directed and working in other film departments with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Not only is this film basically copying the plot of quite literally alot of the summer camp slasher movies from the nineteen eighties. It's also just straight up copying the opening of Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey by having the origin of the killer be told in poorly done animation with a narrator that sounds bored this right here is one the major issues with this film because there is nothing original about this film for the most part heck even the fact that the killer is believe to have been burnt alive could also be seen as copying the original of Freddy Krueger even down to both characters having actually committed the crimes that got them murdered the only difference being that Popeye or Johnny as his real name is meant to be was just a kid who didn't know his own strength and that's really it and that's not enough as you have who is perhaps the worlds most famous sailor and you give him an origin that was done better in 1984 and is was told alot better in 2023 and all of this just screams of the makers of this film just cashing in on what's popular and not bothering to give there villain an origin that's unique to him Popeye is meant to be a sailor so have his origin be something that's related to that and tell it in a way that's unique to your film and not something that was ripped off of a film that whilst it was still bad was still alot more better then this film was since as things stand this film is trying to hard to copy a bunch of ideas from other horror films without understanding what it was that made them so popular in the first place.

Whilst Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey did indeed start of the trend of turning popular kids characters into slasher film villains. With that film you could at least tell that the makers of that film were at least trying to make a decent film and while they may not have succeeded in there task you could see there passion for the film on screen where as here it just felt all of the people that where making this film hadn't even seen a Popeye cartoon let alone read one of the comics as there's no passion for this character or for this film for that matter seen in this film an the reason as to why i'm being so hard on these films is because I want them to be better and part of that does include showing some level of passion for the characters and your film as here it just comes across as the makers of this film saw that Popeye had entered the public domain and saw that these types of films where making some small amounts of money and saw a way to ern some quick money easily and that's really it as everything about this film just scream generic and while they do credit for at least trying to explain why Popeye has some large biceps and having a spinach reference near the end of the movie those feel like that they were included to appease the people who love the Popeye character when all you have to do is make an actually good and scary film with a unique premise and the fans of that character would still be somewhat pleased but because they went the easy route and didn't bother to put in the actual work all we ended up with is a film that is just generic and will be forgotten about by both the people who love the Popeye character and by the people who love horror films within the end of the week.

If the makers of this film really wanted to do something new and different but still keep Popeye as the main villain. Then what they really should have done is have Bluto be in the movie and not only that but also have him be one of the hero characters in the movie as we are so used to seeing him be the bad guy it would make it more fun to see the roles reversed and that would at least then give the movie a reason for existing but they don't do that instead they have it so that whenever there's fog around Popeye is nearby which is great for atmosphere but it makes the movie less fun to watch and if there's anything that this movie shouldn't be is boring as you have a character who is a larger then live sailor being your main villain and yet the film plays in all completely straight which again is something that these films tend to do when leaning into the ridiculousness of it all would not only make your film alot more better then what it actually is but it would also make this film alot more fun to watch as well and this is something that hopefully the makers of Shiver Me Timbers do as Popeye is a character where you can get away with having over the top and funny moments in your movie and in your kills as Popeye is by nature an over the top and funny character and by playing it straight all your doing is making your film alot less fun to watch with thus being something that the makers of The Mean One knew to do as yes that film was a Grinch based horror film but it also knew to play moments for laughs as well as The Grinch is also a comedy character.

If you thought that Popeye was the only character from the Popeye comics strips and shorts to appear in this movie then you'd be wrong. As even tho in the movie he only goes by Olive the girl that's actually helping him is credited in the movies end credits as being none other then Olive Oyl with this films version of her not being Popeye's lover interested but instead being his equally twisted sister which is something that they really never hint at being the case at all during the movies animated prolog with it only being mentioned by Olive herself during the films third act which at that point in time it's two little to late with that plot twist not even playing a part in the movies plot and Olive herself just comes across as being a less interesting version of The Little Pale Girl from the Terrifier movies only not funny and less interesting but to this films credit they also don't go the obvious route with the character either by making her a really annoying love interest for Popeye which is something that they very easily could have done but at the same time tho if your going to have this big twist of her being Popeye's sister then at least hint at it a few times throughout the movie and heck you could even say that Popeye was his parents second child and yet all they do is have one line near the start of the movie where even then that line of dialog could literally mean that he's talking to anyone as it's not something that means that he not only has a sister but is also currently talking to her either.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and nineteen minuets and forty four seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have as this film really does have the right mount of plot there to cover it's running time but at the same time tho while the film does indeed devote alot of it's running time to Popeye and his backstory we get nothing for the rest of the characters with the characters that we want to see survive this movie being nothing more then the stereotypical characters that we see in all eighties summer camp slasher movies and having just as much dimension to them as well which is something that does make sense as the main selling point of this film is seeing Popeye being turned into a slasher villain but at the same time you still need to have interesting and likable characters that you actually want to see survive until the very end of this movie and yet because of the fact that the makers of this put alot more effort into making Popeye at least somewhat interesting the rest of this films characters just come as being bland , boring and forgettable characters that have been done better in other and better slasher movies and even Popeye himself isn't really given all that much dimension to him as while he does have a motive for wanting to get revenge on the PARENTS that killed him he ha no reason to go after the kids as they did nothing to him at least with Freddy Krueger we found out in hi debut movie why he's attacking the kids and not the adults but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty the best part of the film. As that's where the film gets to be somewhat entertaining with the film even making use of Popeye being a sailor by having him not only use an anchor alot of the time but also carry it around with him as well and it's during this films kills that we get to see just how good the gore effects where in this film with it being clear as day that alot of the films budget went into creating some really good gore effects which was money well spent as they do make the films kills alot better with the best kill in the whole entire movie bar none being when Popeye straight up rips out a persons spline and then rips there head off which was just such an over the top the kill that it makes you wonder why the rest of this films kills weren't as over the top and creative as alot of them where just Popeye strangling people until there eyes popped out of there head and that's really it and while that does lead to some really creative looking visuals and is indeed a really creative idea for a kill in it's own right you still need to have more a verity of fun kills in it as well and while this film does indeed have it's fair share of fun kills those are in the minority and are not the majority with the rest of this films kills despite them being really fun kills in there own right just aren't as fun as they really could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this is a trend that really does need to die down as it's getting old fast and this movie and Mouse Of Horrors is evidence of that as while this movie is at the very least a little bit better then Mouse Of Horrors it's still a really bad move in it's own right and it's one that will be forgotten about by alot of people who love both horror films and Popeye as well as it's just that bad of a film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now the i've talked about all of he good and as well as all of the bad things that are in his very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in his very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards .

Scream VI Film Review

The Scream films for better or for worse are films that are going to be getting alot more attention over the next year or so and have been getting more and more popular since the mid to late 2010's with the release of Scream: The TV Series. However alot of the Scream films or at least the vast majority of them have all taken place in one small town with only two films moving the location to somewhere else and so then join me as I review the film that gives Ghostface his biggest canvas and location change yet with the film in question being called simply just "Scream VI" enjoy.

The plot of this film is one year after the events of the previous film Sam , Tara , Chad and Mindy and all of their new friends find themselves trying to survive a new set of Ghostface attacks only this time Ghostface is more dangerous then he or she has ever been before now. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good as while the plot of this film could be seen as being very formulaic as it is just the stereotypical Scream plot with not alot added to it what new elements that the returning film making team add to this films plot like the subplot with the sub plot with Sam seeking counseling due to the events of the first film and the fact that the Carpenter sisters also have a subplot is more then enough to make this films plot come across as feeling fresh and new all other again and that is something that really is needed to keep the Scream films moving forward as it is very easy to write a Scream plot as all you have to do is have someone attacking a bunch of kids and have one of the kids try to work out who it is wince and repeat and that's it and as a result of that is the fact that this is franchise that demands that new stuff be added to the plot of each film with this films plot being being one of the best ones yet with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter , Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter and Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin. Also starring in this film is Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin , Jack Champion as Ethan Landry , Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers , Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed , Skeet Ulrich as Billy Loomis , Henry Czerny as Christopher Stone , Liana Liberato as Quinn Bailey , Dermot Mulroney as Wayne Bailey , Devyn Nekoda as Anika Kayoko , Tony Revolori as Jason Carvey , Josh Segarra as Danny Brackett , Samara Weaving as Laura Crane and Roger L. Jackson as The Voice Of Ghostface.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us i this very film was in all honesty really good. Which is something that's to be expected as alot of this films are not only a bunch of really good actors in there own right but are also reprising there roles from previous films and so they would of course know how best to play there respective character with a special shout out going to Hayden Panettiere who despite only playing Kirby once almost ten years prior to making this film really does step back into her character perfectly almost as if she had just finished filming on Scream 4 the day before starting filming on this movie with the best performer in this whole entire film being either Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter or Roger L. Jackson as The Voice Of Ghostface as both actors are just so good in this film with Melissa maturing her character and her performance in a way that feels natural and in character given everything that her character went through in the last film and Roger just being oddly really creepy in this movie which is something that does oddly enough work for the voice of Ghostface with the acting that's in this film also being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all that this films actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

If there was one thing that the fans wanted from Scream 2022 it was the return of Kirby and that was one thing that we got in this film. With her inclusion in this film really proving that this films directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett along with screenwriters  James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick really are not only fans of the franchise as a whole but are also willing to listen to what the fans want and actually give it to them both of which are things that they really don't have to do and yet it's because that they did that that we got a continuation of Kirby that made sense as after experiencing one of the Ghostface killings fast hand she would of course want to go into a profession where she could hopefully someday prevent another series of attacks either from Ghostface or from someone else and thus prevent someone else from experiencing the kind of pain that she herself went through and it helps that she really is still deep down the same horror obsessed nerd that she was in Scream 4 with her interaction with Mindy being one of the funniest interactions in the whole movie as they each try to suss the other one out just based of what kind of horror movies that they like which is not only a really funny scene in it's own right but it's also one that feels true to both of there respective characters as well and while she does have a funny exchange with Gale as well it's not going to top the one that she has with Mindy plus the one with Gale really doesn't make sense anyways as Gale actually helped her out during the events of Scream 4.

As alot of are all no doubt aware this film is the first Scream film not to feature Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott. As while Neve was offered a role in the film the money she offered wasn't good enough for her to sign on which is something that I do give Neve alot of credit as she stood up for herself and knew what she was worth given that she is franchises main heroine and while she is indeed coming back for Scream 7 it is interesting to wonder where her character would have fitted into this film as there's not really alot of room for her character in this film not at least in it's final form anyways as maybe they could have replaced Kirby with her and that's how she gets brought back into the fold as having just conveniently taking a holiday in New York at the same time that these attacks are happening does seem to be a little to convenient and as such the writers of this film would have to find a clever way to bring her character back into the story in a way that feels natural to her character and not something that doesn't work for either her character or the film as whole but given just how tightly lacked with characters that this film already is maybe it's better that she wasn't in this movie and the fact that she's not and that the movie was still really good in it's own right and was still a box office hit as well does prove that not every single Scream film needs to have the Sidney Prescott character in it in order for it to be a good film.

One of the things that really didn't work in this film was the fact that they reveled a fake Ghostface early on in the movie. Which they do give a narrative reason for that which does make alot of sense at the same time tho there's not reason to have two groups of Ghostface's running around New York when you could have had the main trio of Ghostface killers be the one that kills of Samara Weaving's character as that character was meant to be a teacher at the school that Tara is also going to as well it would be something that would make her a prime target as heck they even attacked Sam's therapist just because he knew her and that was really it and while having the fake Ghostface killer remove his mask at the start of the film is a good way to tell us the audience that this film is going to be doing things alot more differently then what we know that one act of having him remove his mask just to get killed off a few scenes later makes that whole point null and void anyway as not only does the film stick to the Scream formular apart from two scenes in the movie Ghostface himself doesn't really act any different then what he usually does and yet if they did remove the fake Ghostface then it would have shown that these killers really do know everything about the Carpenter sister and that they can attack anyone in their lives who knows them thus making Ghostface alot more of dangerous and unpredictable in this film.

The one thing that ALL Scream movies should do is oddly enough one of the things that this movies doesn't do and that's give us clues as to whom the killer or killers might be. As maybe outside of one line of dialog from Wayne Bailey there's nothing in this movie that makes him out to be a suspect which does make sense as he's meant to be the brains of the bunch which if that's the case then his kids Quinn and Ethan are meant to be the muscle of the group as there the ones committing alot of the kills and yet there's no clues given all throughout the film that implements any of them to be the Ghostface killer of this film heck all you'd need from Ethan is one line of dialog just saying that's he's a fan of either horror , true crime fiction or of Sam herself and that right there would make him a suspect and it's the same for Quinn just one line of dialog is all it would take and it would make all of there actions in the film now seem suspicious and yet because of the fact that the film doesn't do any of that when all three are revealed to be the ones committing the crimes in this film it really does come out of left feel as while there motive does make sense as they reveal that Richie one of the killers from the previous movie was there brother and so they of course wanted revenge of Sam for killing him you still need to give us clues so that us the audience can work it out for ourselves and not have to have it to be spelled out for us at the very end of the film but to be fair tho having Quinn fake her own death so that nobody would suspect her is a pretty good idea tho so there's that at least.

Now then this movie has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and two minuets and thirty one seconds. Which if memory serves does make this film one of if not the longest film in the Scream series but that might not be true tho but it does help that this film really does have the absolutely right amount of plot there to really cover that large amount of running time and while the film doesn't really use it's running time that wisely as it doesn't give us clues as to who the main killers are in this film it does take the time to fully develop it's characters both old and new and it also does take the time to tell us what characters like Kirby who haven't been seen for well over a decade at this point in time have been up to since we last saw them and again to the films credit it does advance the characters that came back from the previous film in a way that feels true to there characters with even the hint of Sam possibly becoming a Ghostface killer in a possible future Scream being something that was set up in the previous movie and while the new characters are fully developed characters in there own right there's really nothing about them that makes them standout from the rest of the core four and as such they do just fall into the background when they are the characters that the makers of this film should be making sure that us the audience really do know about and remember but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now the as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having some of the most memorable kills in Scream history as all of this films kills are not only really well built up as you could even argue that the build to the kill is more scarier then the actual kill itself alot of the time but alot of this films kill are either really inventive or have settings that we really haven't seen in a slasher film before as while yes we did get a scene in Jason Take Manhattan with Jason Voorhees on a subway train but he never killed anyone on it and yet here one of this films Ghostface killers does stab Mindy and even the films infamous ladder kill is something that we really haven't seen done before now and it's something that does work really well for this film as the scene itself is not only really tense in the first place but this kill along with the whole bodega scene really does go to show you that this film Ghostface killers are alot more brutal and a lot more violent then what the previous killers where Richie included with the best kill in this whole movie isn't a kill as it's the scene with Mindy and Ethan on the subway as the editing and the pacing for that whole scene makes it not only a really memorable sequence in it's own right but also a really creepy and scary one as well which really does just go to show you that you don't need a kill in a slasher movie to be scary you just need it to actually be scary and that's really it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film might be the last Scream film for the current film making team as Scream 7 is due to be directed by franchise creator Kevin Williamson this is one heck of a film to go out on and no matter happens in the next entry this is a film that will always be remembered for just how good that it is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then  i've talked about all of the good and as well all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Scream fandom wiki page . Tenor and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being the official Scream fandom wiki page simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on the official Scream fandom wiki page and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on the official Scream fandom wiki page were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Heart Eyes Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

For some rather strange reason even tho it's very common for there to be a holiday themed slasher movie Valentines Day really doesn't have that many. With there really only being a few that including this film that come to mood right now which doesn't make much sense as there so much that you could do with the holiday and put a slasher spin on it and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review the film that joins the ever short list of valentines day themed slasher movies with the film in question being called simply just "Heart Eyes" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when the yearly heart eyes killer begins his new attacks in a new town it's up to a young pitch designer to try and survive these latest attacks before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / resented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as this films plot whist it does tread on some horror cliches does mostly seem fresh and different with this kind of plot not really being told before at the very least not in the horror genre and because of that is the fact that this films plot does come across as being new and refreshing even tho there some character tropes in this film that whilst they aren't in horror films are oddly in romance films which while they might seem fun for fans of those film for fans of horror films they don't quite work with the plot of this film in it's own unique way being a spoof of romance films only with a slasher twist to them and while this film plot really could have been alot more better in other places and given that this film is by the writer of Freaky and he Happy Death Day films is does continue the trend of telling fresh stories by putting a horror twist on what we the audience think are very mundane things with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Olivia Holt as Ally McCabe , Mason Gooding as Jay Simmons and Gigi Zumbado as Monica. Also starring in this film is Michaela Watkins as Crystal Cane , Final Destination and Casper star Devon Sawa as Det. Zeke Hobbs , Power Rangers Dino Thunder star Latham Gaines as Nico , Chris Parker as Tommy , Yoson An as David Shaw and The Fast & The Furious franchise star Jordana Brewster as Det. Jeanette Shaw.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the film does have some really talented actors in it and all of whom do also turn in some really good performances in it as well with it really being hard to say just who turned into the best performance as all of this films actors get a chance to not only show of the more dramatic side of there characters but to also get to cut loose a little bit and remind us all that they can also be some really funny actors and while yes this film does have some really good acting in it the film does also sadly have some really bad acting in it with the likes of Michaela Watkins and Yoson An just not being that good of an actor with there performances coming across as being really wooden and while that is something that makes sense for Michaela Watkins as her role in the film is basically that of a minor character it's not something that makes for Yoson An's character who it could be argued is one of the films lead characters with the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors really have to do is just the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

The key to making any film work is it's characters with the characters in this film being really well done. With this films characters being spoofs of the types of characters that you'd see in made for TV romance movies only now it's played up not only for laughs to highlight the films comedy aspect but also for the scare factor as well as this films characters while they do come across as being really underdeveloped characters that don't have all that much going for them with Ally for example being someone who works at an Ad agency and Mason Gooding's character being someone that's brought in to help her out which is pretty much the plot line for any made for TV romance film ever made but the issue is tho is that there's not much to there characters in the first place which granted might be the point of the film but if your going to be spoofing these kinds of romance movies then you might as well show them how to do these types of character right by not only giving them flaws and faults to overcome during the course of the film but something that can also make them grow as people something that this film does fail to do as it's more interested in spoofing the romance genre then it is in actually creating good characters that could stand on there own and while spoofing genre's is something that this films co-writer and producer Christopher Landon has done before with both Freaky and the happy Death Day films those films at least had characters that you remember after the film is finished where as with this film it's the opposite that's true.

As was mentioned at the very start f this review this film does indeed join what could be a very small list of films to based around Valentines Day or love in general as we do have My Bloody Valentine and it's remake it could be argued that Lisa Frankenstein is a valentines day themed horror movie as well. It really is shocking that the list for these types of movies is so small when this film really does prove that there's so much that you can do with a Valentines Day setting just by spoofing romance movies alone as those movies are just begging to be spoofed and even if you didn't want to go that route then you could go and make a straight forward slasher film only now you make the romance aspect of it just as interesting if not more interesting then then horror aspect of it as that again would be something that us the audience really haven't seen before now and it would therefore thus be giving us something new to both genres which is something nobody would want as all that would in the long run is make not only your film look bad but it also wouldn't really do anything for either genre either and heck even the makers of this film do show a great deal of love and respect for the romance genre by not only spoofing it but also getting details like the characters having high paying jobs and one of them usually the female main character being a workaholic who is newly single and that is something that you'd really only do if you had a great deal of respect for both of these genre's of film.

Even tho this is film is a romance film it's oddly enough that aspect of the film that does let the film down by quite a bit. As not only do neither of the actors have any chemistry with each other with them coming across as ore being best friends or just friends in general then they do love interests and there romance is one of the things that's really key into making this film work as you have ti believe in there romance in order to believe that there in any real danger and the second that you don't believe in their romance then the whole film starts to fall in on it's self and as such more effort really should have gone into not only casting characters that do have that kind of chemistry with each other and by creating a more believable romance as either or both really would have gone a long way into making this film work and not having to just rely on the fact that you got one of the actors from the two latest Scream movies to star in the leading role in this movie as that's just not good enough as this is a film that's going to have two sets of audiences to please those being the horror fans and the romance fans and in this case you can't please one without not pleasing the other with this film coming across more like that it's trying to please more of the horror audience by giving more of the things that they love which is fine but at the same time it's also not please the fans of romance films by giving us that more believable romance in the first place.

Given that this is a romantic horror comedy you would expect the comedy in this film to be rather on the weak side much like the romance part of it. However it's actually the opposite that's true with this film having alot of genuinely funny laugh out loud moments in it all of which not only work and land really hard but they also feel like the kinds of jokes that that character would make with all of the films best jokes being the ones that catch you off guard rather then the ones that are spoofing romance films as the ones that catch you of guard are ones that you don't really see coming where as you can see the kinds of jokes that are spoofing romance films coming a mile away and while yes those kinds of jokes are funny as well the best kind of joke at the very least for this film is the ones that you don't see coming as there just these little moments where nobody would have thought to put a joke in there and because of that when they do tell a joke it's more often then not really funny with it actually helping that none of this films jokes undercut the tension of the scene that there in as it could be argued that the film itself is meant to be seen as more of a comedy then it is a romance film as there are alot more effort put into creating these really funny jokes that your going to remember alot more then the romance part of the film as this films jokes are not only more funny but are also alot more memorable then this films very poorly done romance is.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty seven minuets and forty six seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstandard running time for these types of films to have with it really being helped by the fact that this film really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time however with all of that being said tho this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as it doesn't flesh out either it's characters , plot or romance for that matter all of which would have gone a long way into making this film alot more better then what it already is and while this film is alot more entertaining then Captain America: Brave New World is that film at least took the time to develop some of it's characters where as none of this films characters get any kind of development and heck we don't even get to find out that much about any of the films characters which fair enough might be the joke of the film as we also don't get to find out all that much about the lead character in bad made for TV romance films either but those films have the excuse of being made on a small budget and have a very small amount of time to actually make them where as this film have none of those excuses and so the makers of this film really could have taken as much time as they really needed in order to fully flesh out it's characters , plot ad romance a bit more but I really will admit that this film really does gave some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as then as is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about all of the kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of really fun and actually gory kills which was actually very surprising as you don't really expect a horror film that's being released by a major studio in this case Sony Pictures to have alot of really gory kills in it and yet that's exactly what we got in this film and while it's impossible to spoil what the best kill of the movie is just because of the fact it really is something that needs to be seen to be believed what I can say is that the best kill of this movie happens very early in the film like it's the third kill of the movie and it's one that is so visceral that you really need to see this movie just for that kill alone with it being safe to predict that should this film get featured on Dead Meat's Kill Count next year that the kill in question would be a seriously strong contender for there best kill of the movie something that alot of the films kills can also lay claim to as alot of them are just that good which is something that you very rarely if ever see in a slasher movie let alone in a horror movie and yet it's something that in this film with this films kills really being helped that pretty much almost all of them are kills that we the audience really haven't seen before in other slasher movies which is something that really does make the kills in this film well and truly standout because of it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you have any plans for Valentines Day go and take whomever you are with to go and see this movie as both of you will have a really good time with this film as it's one that both fans of romance films and horror films can very easily watch and enjoy together as well in my freaking opinion anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards .
