Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Film Review

Sequels are a thing that Hollywood really loves to do and they really love rushing out a sequel to capitalize on the success of the first film. This film went a different route as while yes there were talks of a sequel to the original Beetlejuice in the nineties it wasn't until last year when it finally came out and when it come it took the box office by storm and proved that there people out there who want to see this kind of throw back movie and so then join me as I review the film that proved that the ghost with the most isn't quite as dead yet with the film in question being called simply just "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when her father is killed by great white shark Lydia , her mother and her daughter all return to Winter River where Lydia's daughter Astrid acceidentally opens up a portal to the afterlife and it's up Lydia to find her by teaming up with the one person who tried marry her thirty plus years earlier Beetlejuice. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it was a plot that perfectly captured the zanyiness of the original film whilst also advancing the characters in ways that felt true to there original selfs and yet at the same time tho this film is filled to the brim with so many subplots that it does start become overstuffed with all of the films characters getting subplots when they really don't need one with the film being alot more better when it focuses on the main plot of the film as that's the plot that is not only better done but it's also the one that's the more fun to watch as well and while the subplots on there own aren't bad it's just that there not really needed in this film as it does make the film seem overstuffed and overcrowded with it being hard to remember what plotline we the audience are meant to be following in any given scene with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice , Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz. Also starring in this film is Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz , Justin Theroux as Rory , Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson , Arthur Conti as Jeremy Frazier , Burn Gorman as Father Damien , Santiago Cabrera as Richard , Nick Kellington as Bob , Amy Nuttall as Jane Butterfield Jr. , Paul Warren as Tom , Mark Heenehan as Charles Deetz , Charlie Hopkinson The Voice Of as Charles Deetz , Danny DeVito as A Janitor and Monica Bellucci as Delores LaFerve.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of the returning actors from the first film really just slipping right back into playing there respective characters so wonderfully and so quickly that it felt like that they had just finished the first movie and then went right on to working on this movie as the performances from those returning actors are just so seamless and whilst the acting from the newer actors is indeed really good with the likes of Jenna Ortega , Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci among others turning in some really solid performances but due to the fact that the returning characters are mostly played by there original actor the acting from the newer actors whilst it is indeed still really good in it's own right just really doesn't hold a candle to the acting from the original film actors as there acting really is just so good with the acting that's in this very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Framestore , One Of Us , BUF , Red Visual Effects and Goldcrest. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the film also making great use of stop motion animation as well as CGI animation with both of them being blended together really well with the stop motion being true for the style of the effects in the original where all of the effects where done with stop motion whilst also incorporating elements of CGI which works really for this film as it does show the best of both effects and while the stop motion effects will always look better as they were created for real and were actually on a set where as the CGI effects were created in a computer and will be dated within a five years the films CGI effects are still really good in there own right and are mostly only used when they have to use CGI and not when the makers of the film want to use it which is a great way to use CGI as then your being forced to be creative and to find creative solutions as just because you can use CGI doesn't mean that you should use it either as all that does is make your film look like a CGI mess where as due to the lack of CGI in this film that's not even close to being the case.

One of the things that alot of people pointed out and hated when this film was first released was the fact that the Delores character is utterly pointless in the film. Which she is as she barely does anything to effect the plot of the film apart from show up in a few scenes to suck the souls out of people and that's it and that is such a waste of actor Monica Bellucci as she can do more if you give her more stuff to do and if you give an interesting character to play and yet here with this film we get a character that could be left out of the film and absolutely nothing will be missed from the plot of the film which is a shame because on paper this character could be interesting if she was used more and if we the audience got to spend more time with her character and heck she even could have incorporated into the main plot of the film as that would have been something and yet here this film does nothing that's interesting with her character or even that fun for that matter as apart from her debut scene where we see her stitch herself together all the while the song Tragedy by The Bee Gee's plays which is a fun scene but it's the only fun scene that the character is in and it's not enough to make the character fun even more so when the film is filled to the brim with fun characters that you want to get to know more and that you want to spend more time with where as here Delores is a character that's just there and because of that she feels like an afterthought and undercooked character that was better left not being in the film at all as she's just that pointless of a character in this film.

If you noticed at the start of this review I mentioned that this was a throwback film and that's because it is as it's a throwback to kids movies from the eighties. As this film does have quite alot of stuff init that wouldn't be seen in a films today like the character of Beetlejuice being this politically incorrect character and there's a lot of violence in this movie as well and there's some swearing all of these are things that would have been found in a PG rated kids movie in the eighties but are now hardly ever seen in films that are rated PG-13 and yet here they are in this film and just to be clear this film is rated PG-13 and yet even with all of these things in this film alot of people not only turned out to go and see it but actually liked it as well which shows that people do want these kinds of films and don't want softer ratings they want the PG rating to actually mean something again and not just be a glorified U rating which is what it has become and to this films credit it does take full advantage of it's rating by also giving us things that could also be added in an R rated movie as well but it's not in an over the top way it's done in a way that suits not only this film but the original film as well with all of that films characters being the exact same in this film and while yes this film does have it's fair share of problems the fact that the film does have alot of the things that were found in kids PG rated movies in the eighties in this movie can only be seen as being a step in the right direction to making sure that that PG rating is actually earn't again.

One of the key things about this film is the relationship between Lydia and Astrid as that's something that us the audience really do have to buy into to make the film work. As this film so very easily could have come across as being a half baked sequel but because of the fact that the writers of this film but alot of effort into making the relationship between Lydia and Astrid the film comes across as being alot more thought out as we see that Astrid is basically a more modern version of how Lydia was back in the eighties and that Lydia is now struggling to connect with her daughter and over the course of this film we see that they both really do care about it each other even tho they'd never really say it to each others face and yet none of that feels out of character for either of them as Lydia is the type of person who would be willing to do anything for her family something that we not only saw in the first film but also in both The Animated Series and all throughout this film as well where as Astrid is just being a dumb kid and making dumb kid choices which oddly makes her feel more alot more real and heck you really could even argue that Lydia and Delia go through the same thing in this film as well as both mothers and daughters are grieving over the loss those being the loss of Charles for Lydia and Delia and the loss of Astrid's father Richard for Lydia and Astrid and over the course of the film both mothers and daughters have to reconnect with each other something that they could only do due to the events of this film.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty five minuets and three seconds. Which is a solid running time for this film to have with this film really having the right amount of plot thee to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this is a film that really cold have done with being a few minuets longer just so that alot of the newer characters would have a chance to leave much of an impression as with this final cut of the film the only new character to leave an impression in a positive light is Astrid and the only one to do in a negative light is Delores with all of the others just not leaving any kind of an impression on me at all as even tho there played by good actors none of them are given that much in the way of screen time and even the ones that do get some decent screen time aren't in the scenes for very long and this is something that really could have been fixed if this film was a little bit longer as then we could have gotten more fully rounded characters that can be on par with the first films returning characters and Delores would have actually been given something to do that actually impacts the plot of the film but at the same time tho alot of those could also be seen as being filler and taking away screen time for the characters that we actually want to see more of as well as no one going to see this film is going to see it because of Astrid or Delores for example there going to see it because of the original characters and that is something that this film does rather rightfully dedicate alot of it's running time towards as well but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is comedy that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of painfully moments in it with even the church scene near the end of the movie where Beetlejuice distracts the rest of the characters by making them sing and dance to another song whilst he once again tries to marry Lydia being a really funny joke that whilst yes it won't ever top the Day-O scene from the original movie it's still a funny joke in it's own right and the film is filled to the brim with these crazy and zany jokes that wouldn't work in any other film but because there happening in a Beetlejuice film not only to they work but they also land really hard as well with there not really being a single bad joke in the whole entire film as that's just how funny all of this films jokes are and heck this film is worth watching just for the jokes alone with the best joke in the whole entire film being when Wolf his interrogates Beetlejuice about Delores and he shows him the picture of her to which Beetlejuice screams before covering up by saying that he's never seen her before which is just such a good joke as it does catch you off guard and heck even the over the top death of Charles and how they present it in the film is a funny joke in it's own right as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this film is proof that when he really wants to this films director and producer Tim Burton really can make a really good film as that's exactly what he's really gone and done here as this is really a film that perfectly captures the spirit and tone of the original film whilst also leaving the door open to future films should they want to make more Beetlejuice films that is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in his very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got al of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Beetlejuice fandom wiki page , Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being the official Beetlejuice fandom wiki page simply because the official Beetlejuice fandom wiki page actually has images from this film really are up and on the official Beetlejuice fandom wiki page and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on the official Beetlejuice fandom wiki page were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Piglet Film Review

For some strange reason it's now become the in thing in Hollywood to turn classic childhood characters into slasher horror film villains...
