Working Out A VERY Rough Timeline For Friday The 13th

Horror fans since my timeline post on the Child's Play films went down a treat I thought i'd do it again only this time i've chosen a more iconic I guess film series. Now i'm going to let you all know right now that I will be including Freddy Vs Jason and the sequel comics (because why make things easy am I right) and I will not be including the remake since that's a different timeline and so here we go with a timeline for Friday The 13th.

Friday The 13th (1980)

Now I don't recall if they give an exact date for when the prolog takes place but we do know for a fact that it takes place in 1958 and given that it's a summer camp we can there for assume that it's between June and September but in order for the time jump work it's most likely June. Now we jump forward twenty one years which means the film starts proper not on Friday the 13th 1980 but Wednesday the 13th 1979.

My memory of this film is a little sketchy at best but if I remember right there's one shot with one of the campers in bed at night. So there for the vast majority of the film takes place over the course of one single day but again my memory of this film is very sketchy but i'mm doing my best. Which there for means given that we see Alice go to sleep the whole film start to end takes excluding the prolog takes place over two days ending on Friday the 15th 1979.

Friday The 13th Part 2

So at least two months have passed since the end of the last film and the start of the prolog to this film so that means that the prolog takes place in August 1979. We then fast forward five years to 1984 I can't say what the month is but there was two Friday the 13th's that year on in April and the other in June and given that this series is mostly set at a summer camp it's most likely set in June but I can't confirm or deny that.

I haven't seen the second film so i'm mostly going of the Friday The 13th Wiki page and going just of that and that alone i'd say the film, takes place over at least two days. With it ending on Sunday the 15th 1984 which honesty begs the question who in the hell is working on Sunday because we see ambulance crews and police officers in the final shot which I only know of because i've seen videos on the film.

Friday The 13th Part 3

This film picks up the story one day later so it's now Monday the 16th 1984 since we don't find out where the teens come from or are given any clues we can there for assume that between them travelling and them arriving at Higgins Heaven is all in the same day. The vast majority of the film does take place over that one day and since this is one day after the previous film we know that it takes place in Jun.

Again since we don't know where the teens come from and there for have no idea how long it took them to arrive at Crystal Lake ( I have no idea what the name of the town is so i'm going with Crystal Lake) but we do see the main character fall asleep at the end of the film and so we can there for work out that the film roughly ends on Tuesday the 17th 1984 but that's only if we're not including how long it takes the teens to arrive at Higgins Heaven.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter

As with the previous film this one takes place the very next day with only the prolog taking place a few hours after the third film finished. So the story picks up on Wednesday the 18th 1984 and at this point Jason must be freaking tired because he's been killing several people over the past few days and how have the police not put out a warning that there's mask murdered on the loose already like seriously at least twenty if not more people have died over the past few days put out a warning already.

This film does end at least a week if not more later and so that makes it hard to pin point an exact date but my best guess would at least week which means that it ends on at least Wednesday the 25th but like I said they don't give an exact date both in the film or on the wiki page so that's a guess and so if i'm wrong then please let me know down below and i'll fix it as soon as I possibly could do because I want this to be as accurate as possible.

Friday the 13th: A New Beginning

So as we all know part 4 wasn't the final film in the franchise a year later we got another film and like the second film we get a five year time jump to 1989. Now unlike the previous films where I could at least give you a rough day and month here I actually since according to the Friday The 13th wiki page the house that Tommy arrives at is in southern California and so we can there for assume that the film doesn't take place on any of the two Friday the 13th's for that year but I could be wrong with that.

What I do know for sure is that the whole film takes place over at least two or three days start to finish and that's not including however long it took for Tommy to arrive at Pinehurst House either. Since if it did it would roughly take place over at least four to five days. We cab also assume that given the clear blue sky that the film does take place over the summer and adding to the theory that this doesn't take place on a Friday the 13th is the fact that we only see Jason in visions that Tommy is having and the real killer is someone else entirely.

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

Guys and girls i'm going to be straight up honest with you all I can't find a single reference to how much time has passed in this film at all so what ever I said here is based purely on guess work and it's not even educated guesses either. Given that Tommy was seventeen in the previous film and here he looks to be at least twenty we can assume that we've had another time jump this time to the year 1992.

Again just using pure guess work and a little help from the Friday the 13th wiki page it's safe to assume that this film in total takes place over at least two days. I say at least because we don't know if Tommy is still at Pinehurst or not and so we don't know how far he's had to travel so it very well could be three days but if you weren't to include any travel time then it's most likely two days if not one day and a little bit.

Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood

Unlike the last entry I know roughly when this film takes place and i'm saying roughly because due to the lack of time frame I have no idea when the previous film took place so from here on out everything is riding on Jason Lives taking place in 92. That being said this film picks the story up seven years later so now it's 1999 and basically Jason has to fight Carrie yes they give her a different name but come on it's so obviously Carrie they might as well have cast Sissy Spacek in the role of Tina.

Just like there's no known time jump there's also no known time frame for this movie which I wouldn't mind if i've seen the movie. Given that the previous films never last more then two or three days i'd have to guess and say that this film takes place over at least two days but again since i've not seen the film and the Friday the 13th wiki isn't being helpful here this is a very rough guess and I could be wrong.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

OK boys girls there is a little bit of help so I do have a rough time frame of how long this film takes place so here we go. First of it's now one year later so that means we've left the nineties so out away your Britney Spears CD's and entered the 2000's because it's the year 2000 and given that the students are going a big school trip one can assume that it's near the end of the school term which makes it summer time.

Now including the prolog and the fact that during the film the students have to row to New York the film roughly takes place over at least three or four days. However since we don't know where they were when they first started rowing it very well could have been at least a few hours if not a day but tho given that i'm only using the Friday the 13th wiki page a few days is the best time frame I could honestly come up with.

Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday

Ok guys and girls there is a conflict going on here because the Wikipedia page for the film states that the film takes place in 2003 which when you take into account Freddy Vs Jason might not work out. However since i've done the math we can safely assume that the film takes place in 2005 but that's only if the date for Jason Lives lines up with what i've said but there's a huge chance that it might not line up.

As with a few other films featured in this post it's going to be pure guess work over how many days pass in the film. I do know that the opening takes place at night and there's at least a few scene set in the day time so we can there for assume that at least two days pass at least in the film's world anyways but this is all guess work and so if i'm wrong again please let me know so I can make changes asap.

Jason X

Not alot more to go now folks because now we reach the point where the series jumped the shark and sent Jason into space. This film has two technically three time skips since when we start the film it's been three years since Jason went to hell so that's 2008 and then it jumps forward again another two years so that 2010 and then there's a really big jump of over four hundred years and this is year the lime line matches up with the maths that i've done so yay me i'm good at movie maths.

However things do get harder from here since if I recall The Cinema Snob's "review" of the film right there's are no scenes set outside so you can't tell if it's day or night. So we have no idea how many days have passed in the films world and no i'm not including the time jumps since that would be to easy and that's not my style and given the release of Freddy Vs Jason this is basically the end of the original timeline since Freddy Vs Jason takes place before this film.

 Freddy vs. Jason

Now we are going back in time to four years after Jason goes to hell or possibly four years after Freddy's Dead. So from what I could work out it might be Jason Goes To Hell which would place the film in 2009 but god knows what it would be if it's four years after Freddy's Dead (hint hint maybe coming) yes i'm counting this film as being in the original timeline because according to the Friday the 13th wiki it is and that's good enough for me.

Rather shockingly if i've worked this out right then this film takes place over the course of a single day. Which I think is the shortest time frame for either franchise but since i've not done one of these for the Nightmare On Elm Street films I can't say for sure. Even so it's still mind blowing that everything that happens in this film takes place over one single day those kids must be freaking tired by the end of it.

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash

Now I said I was including the two Freddy Vs Jason comics and I meant it and this means i'm finally nearly done. This comic book does kind of mess with the Friday the 13th timeline a little bit which does make it hard to fit in with the series because this comic book is meant to take place in 2014 which according to Jason X is when Jason is meant to be frozen and well on his way to going into space.

If i'm being honest i;m only including the comics because I included Freddy Vs Jason and plus not that many people know about these two crossover series. I did read this book a while ago and from what I recall the whole book takes place over the course of at least a day if not two days but my memory about the book isn't that good  so you'll have to read the book and see for yourselves if i'm right or not.

Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: The Nightmare Warriors

Freaking finally we've reached the end of this post it's just a shame that the time line is pretty much screwed. The book picks the story up six months later and since there wasn't a date given in the first book i'm going to assume that we are still in 2014 but there's a very good chance that i'm wrong there. If I am wrong tho I bed you all to go and read the book and tell me when this book takes place but fair warning both books are pretty bad.

Like the previous book I did read this one a few years ago and I can't remember that much about it outside of the fact that characters from all three franchises appear in this story. From what I recall this whole story takes place over at least three days but given that i've not read this book in a few years my memory of it isn't that good if i'm being honest and now I can finally hit publish on this post which has taken me close to three hours to write but I did have two breaks during that time frame tho so it's more like two and a half hours start to finish
