A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Film Review

In the eighties it wasn't uncommon for a slasher film to get a sequel with those sequel nine times out of ten being really bad. However there is one sequel out there that many people consider to be on par with the original with alot of fans of this franchise even considering this film to be the best sequel in this franchise and so then join me as I review the film that sees two old faces return to take on Freddy once again with the film in question being called simply just "A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors" enjoy.

The plot of this film is teenager Kristen is admitted into a psychiatric hospital where she , her fellow patients and her doctors have to face of with Freddy Krueger. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot doing a good job of advancing not only the characters but also the overall story of the films in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger , Heather Langenkamp as Nancy Thompson and Craig Wasson as Dr. Neil Gordon. Also starring in this film is Patricia Arquette as Kristen Parker , Ken Sagoes as Roland Kincaid , Rodney Eastman as Joey Crusel , Jennifer Rubin as Taryn White , Bradley Gregg as Phillip Anderson , Ira Heiden as Will Stanton , Larry Fishburne as Max Daniels , Penelope Sudrow as Jennifer Caulfield , John Saxon as Donald Thompson , Priscilla Pointer as Dr. Elizabeth Simms , Clayton Landey as Lorenzo , Brooke Bundy as Elaine Parker , Stacey Alden as Nurse Marcie and Nan Martin as Sister Mary Helena / Amanda Krueger.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which for this franchise isn't all that new as all of the films thus far in the franchise had some really good acting in them but it really does help that this films script is just so good that all the cast have to do is just the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of all them really very naturally.

This film is a direct sequel to the first film with characters Nancy Thompson and her father Donald Thompson returning for this film. While Nancy is treated really well by the filmmakers it's Donald that I felt got the short end of the stick as the character is basically there just for an extended cameo and nothing more then that heck we don't even get the chance to fully understand why he is  the way that he is now where as we get to see a handful of scenes with Nancy telling us why she is the way that she is in this film with her leaving Springwood making sense but it doesn't make sense as to why Donald is still there tho.

This film does what alot of great sequels should do and that's expand upon the lore of the film and add to the franchises story. In this case we get alot of detail about Freddy's backstory with his mother being the victim of several assaults bu thousands of maniacs which does go along way to somewhat explaining why Freddy s the way that he is and it expands upon the story of the films by explaining that Freddy's power comes from the souls of the children that he's killed and so the more kids that he kills the more powerful that he becomes which makes him more deadly then ever and this is something that the later sequels failed to capitalize on.

The film makes great use of practical effects with all of this films practical effects not only looking good but holding up really well of these years later. With this films best practical effect being the snake that attacks Kristen as we see the snake go from presumably under the floorboards to behind the walls which is just so cool to look at as it makes you wonder how they archived that effect and while the first film does also some truly great looking practical effects as well this film took what they did in the first film and then matched it interms of quality as that's just how good this films practical effects well and truly are.

The films newer characters are somewhat well done I say that as alot of them do come across as being very one dimensional. With the best examples being Max , Phillip and Jennifer with all three characters not really being all that memorable with Max not really being given a personality outside of being the friend to the teenagers and Jennifer and Phillip are killed of to early for their personalities to really fully develop which is a shame as on paper all three of these characters should have worked and yet due to the filmmakers not really fully developing these characters and so outside of Jennifer's and Phillip's death scene there not really being given anything memorable to say or even do which just makes these characters seem rather forgettable , bland and boring and I will admit that alot of the groups dream powers don't really make sense interms of what there respective characters personality is this is despite the dream powers looking really cool tho.

Now then while I cannot for the absolutely life if me remember whatever this film running time even was I do know that for a fact that this film has / had an exact grand total running time of roughly one hour and thirty minuets. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for this franchise and it;s a running time that works well for this film as this film really doesn't have a whole lot their interms of either plot or story and while I would have liked it if they did stretch this films running time out at the same time they would have been stretching an already thin storyline even thinner but I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having some of the franchises most iconic kills both of which hold up really well due to how creative are and how well built up they are and while this film does some pretty bad kills those are very few and far between with the film having more great kills then it does bad ones in my freaking opinions anyways /at least.

Overall out of all of the many sequels that this franchise this one is quite easily the best one as Freddy is still scary and everything gets advanced in a way that feels natural and organic in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly an 8.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Image actually has images from this film up on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
