Scream 4 Film Review

Out of all of the iconic horror franchises out there Scream is perhaps the one that alot of people still talk about to this very day. While granted that is more due to the fact that Scream's 5 and 6 where genuinely really good movies but it's also due to the fact that the development of Scream 7 was just a nightmare however alot of people seem to forget that we did get a legacy sequel in 2011 and so then join me as i review the film that brought the Scream franchise back to life with the film in question being called simply just "Scream 4" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Sidney Prescott returns to Woodsboro to promote her new book she becomes trapped in a slew of new Ghostface killings and along with Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley have to find out who this new killer is before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot doing a good job of catching up with the legacy characters in a way that feels natural and true to who they are as characters and yet introducing us to a whole new slew of characters as well and while this films plot could be seen as being tired as it just follows the exact same formular and general synopsis of alot of the Scream films it adds enough new thins to it that it does make it seem fresh and new again and with this films taking on horror remakes it does make sense that this film would have the general same plot as the first film only done on a much bigger budget as that ties into the fact that the killer of this film is doing a remake of the first film but with that being said this film should have a completely different plot as all it does is make this film feel pointless due to the fact that the plot of this film is strikingly similar to the plot of the first film with the plot of this film being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least

Starring in this film is Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott , David Arquette as Dewey Riley and Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. Also starring in this film is Hayden Panettiere as Kirby Reed , Emma Roberts as Jill Roberts , Anthony Anderson as Anthony Perkins , Adam Brody as Ross Hoss , Rory Culkin as Charlie Walker , Mary McDonnell as Kate Roberts , Marley Shelton as Judy Hicks , Alison Brie as Rebecca Walters , Marielle Jaffe as Olivia Morris , Nico Tortorella as Trevor Sheldon , Erik Knudsen as Robbie Mercer , Anna Paquin as Rachel , Kristen Bell as Chloe , Shenae Grimes as Trudie , Lucy Hale as Sherrie , Britt Robertson as Marnie Cooper , AimeĆ© Teegarden as Jenny Randall and Roger L. Jackson as The Voice Of Ghostface.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which given not only who is starring in this film but also the fact that this film is being directed by Wes Craven who really does know how to get a good performance out of his actors with it being really hard to say just who the best actor in this film is as there all just so good and while yes the original four actors Neve Campbell , David Arquette , Courteney Cox and Roger L. Jackson are all on top form in this film there acting is more then matched by the acting of the actors that are making there debut in this film as that's just how good the acting that's in this film really is with both the new and old actors turning in some truly great performances that help to make this film alot more better then what it really had any right to be with the best o the new actors being quite easily Emma Roberts who goes from innocent victim to twisted killer at the drop of a hat and she does so effortlessly and with such ease that it's really quite terrifying in it's own right with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

While it would be super easy to talk about all o the four returning characters what would be slightly more challenging is to talk about the films newer characters. As while this film new characters won't ever be as popular as say Tatum from Scream 1 or Sam and Tara from Scream's 5 and 6 this films new characters are some fairly enjoyable characters with even Kirby proving to be so popular that she would return in Scream 6 and yet here she is basically the female version of Randy as she has all of the knowledge about horror films so much so that she technically gets one of Ghostfaces questions right thus making her the first person to do so with Jill coming across as being your stereotypical teenager only for it to be revealed that there's something more darker and more sinister hiding not only within her but also Charlie as well as even tho they both have different motives they both willingly commit these crimes and while yes granted some of this films newer characters like Rebecca and to a lesser extent Judy aren't all that well developed with even Judy being played more for laughs in this film then she would be in the very next film but at the same time tho alot of this films characters just feel like lesser versions of the first films characters which granted might be the point as this film is meant to be spoofing horror remakes but that doesn't mean that you have to copy the characters of the first film as all that does is make you wish that you were watching the first film and where as the first film took the time to fully develop it's characters this film really doesn't do that.

As was mentioned earlier on in this review this film is spoofing remakes from the horror genre which is something that does make alot of sense. As these films always spoofed what was popular in the world of horror from sequels to a concluding chapter and as such since horror remakes where big in the mid to early 2010's it made sense that this film would spoof horror remakes by pretty much being a remake of the first film however what the film fails to mention is the fact that alot of those horror remakes are just flat out bad movies something that they could have done by having one of the characters bring up just how bad alot of horror remakes and then have either Charlie or Jill say that these killings are better then the ones in the first film and that's really it and heck the film really doesn't go all the way with the remake idea as it doesn't have anything that connects it back to the original film be it a familiar location or a cameo from one of the original actors something that alot of horror remakes do also do and while granted it would have been hard to work out how to get an original actor from the first film in this movie they very easily could have had something other then the school make an appearance in this movie like how fun would it have been to have Stu's house make an appearance in this movie even if it's just in the background it's something that still have connected it to the original film in a way that makes alot of sense as these characters would have known about the original killings and given that Charlie and Robbie are meant to be horror buffs with Kirby it would also make sense for them to hold their annual Stab-A-Thon in the house that the original killings took place in.

Given that these film has always built themselves as being a mystery slasher film and al of the films including Scream 3 do put alot of effort into the mystery aspect of the film. With the same thing also being true for this film as well as there's alot of thought and effort put into creating a genuinely good mystery and while Jills motives might seem dated by today's standerd back in 2011 they where oddly topical but with that being said it would have made this film alot more better if this film did give us some clues as t who the killers might be as they would then allow for repeat viewings of the film so that we could look for anything that we might have missed the first time but as the film really doesn't do that then there's no reason to go back and watch this film as your not going to find nothing new that clues in to who the killer was when if you look back at the first film they did one simple trick to try and make us guess just who the killer was and that's the fact that they had alot of the characters wear very similar boots to ones that the killer wore and even having Stu mock one of the rules of a horror movie is big clue that he's one of the killers and yet with this film there's none of that as there more focused on trying to copy what alot of remakes do instead of just doing there own thing and add in things that would make the mystery aspect alot more better then what it already as even having a character have a look just before a kill is about to take place would be more then enough to make us think that they are the killer and while yes having a person walk off screen before a kill happens works just as well it means nothing when there are no clues in the film to back it all up in the first place.

While the whole mystery of this film could have been done alot more better what also worked really for this film was the fact that one of it's killers is Sidney's cousin. This works in two ways as not only Emma Roberts an incredibly skilled actor in her own right but also because of the fact that it's something that we the audience wouldn't see coming at all as of course we'd believe that a close member of her family is a good person and yet when it's revealed that she is one of this films killers it is something that works in all of the right ways as this film has been all about not only copying what the original film did but also trying to outdo it and what better way to do that then to have a female Ghostface with even her motives making sense for someone from that time period as all she wants to do is to get famous for doing nothing much like how she's perceived Sidney got her fame and her fortune without realizing the fact that Sidney had to quite literally got though hell not one . not twice but three times just to get it and even then it wasn't something that she wanted where as Jill is alot like every teenager from around the time that this film takes place in that she must likely watches alot of reality TV shows and thinks that being famous is easy she even has a line of dialog near the end of the film that sums her character perfectly where she says that she doesn't need friends she needs fans and that one line of dialog is something that is perfect for her character is she a good character no but then again you could also argue that alot the characters in thus film aren't well done characters and while the Scream films would finally get a female Ghostface killer done right in Scream 5's Amber Freeman it's important to note that without Jill giving the makers of Scream 2022 the blueprint on how to do a female Ghostface killer then Amber might have turned out to be just another badly done character as well.

Now then his film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty minuets and forty six seconds. Which is pretty much the exact grand total running tome for alot of these Scream movies and to this films credit it really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time but where as Scream , Scream 2022 and Scream VI used their running times alot more wisely but developing there characters and locations alot more this film really doesn't do any of that with the new characters feeling like carbon copies of the original films characters and even tho Woodsboro was set up in the first film here it oddly feels lot smaller and condensed which would be fine if alot of the films new characters were interesting character but sadly there not as out of the new characters only three of them are actually memorable and they are Charlie , Jill and Kirby with the rest of them just being bland characters and while the returning characters do get off betting this is more because of the fact that we've had three other films to get to know as characters and so of course there going to come off as looking better because we've had alot more time to get to know them where as with the new characters for alot of them we only had this one film and while Judy was very vastly improved upon in the next film it still doesn't change the fact that she wasn't that well developed in this film and this is something that the makers of this film really could have done as this film was meant to be the first in a new trilogy of Scream films and yet they didn't bother to use some of this films lengthy running time to develop any of it's new characters but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film and well then in all then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which is something that's not really all that new as this films director and producer Wes Craven has always had some really good kills in alot of his movies and therefor it's not all that shocking that this film would not only have tons of blood and gore in it but that they would also be some really creative and inventive kills as well and while the kills in this film won't top the kills in other Scream movies that doesn't stop them from being the highlight of this movie with perhaps the best kill in this film being a tie between Olivia's kill and the final fight ill between Sidney and Jill as while Olivia's kill was alot more brutal and raw almost like it was a really violent wrestling match Jill's death scene is just as great as she does get her wish to become famous as no one outside of the hospital knows that she actually committed all of these crimes just to get her fifteen minuets of fame and while it's possible that her fame would have faded and turned into infamy the very fact that she did still end up getting exactly what she wanted just without her knowing makes her death in this film one that's really impactful and one that does stay with you long after the film has finished as that's just how good not only her kill but what alot of this films kills really are in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this film is quite easily a return to form after the terrible film that was Scream 3 this is still not the franchise at it's best either. As while it does have all of the iconography there it feels like the makers of this film forgot what it was that made the Scream films work in the first place with it being clear that some fresh blood was needed to keep this franchise alive and well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now the i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very revie and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girl and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Scream fandom wiki page , Tenor and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being the official Scream fandom wiki page simply because the official Scream fandom wiki page actually has images from this film really are up and on the official Scream fandom wiki page and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on the official Scream fandom wiki page were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Shiver Me Timbers 2025 Film Review

For some weird reason young horror filmmakers are obsessed with turning Popeye into a slasher villain as this is now the third slasher film to be released this year that has Popeye as the main villain. With this hopefully being the final one this year as out of all three that have been released so far only one of them was actually good and hint it's not this one with this one being the only one that I was actively looking forward to as I hadn't heard of any of the others and so then join me as I review the film that turns Olive Oyl into a goth for literally no reason whatsoever with the film in question being called simply just "Shiver Me Timbers" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when her and her friends go camping to see a comet flying by Olive and her friends suddenly find themselves being stalked by a sailor who is bent on killing them. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not tat bad but at the same time tho this films plot isn't all that good either as it's just so generic with the plot of the film basically being the same plot as quite literally any eighties slasher film that's set at a summer camp only remove the fact that there not going there for the summer and you'd basically have the plot of this film heck Popeye The Slayer Man had a better plot then this film did as the plot of that film at least had thought and effort put into it and while there is some effort put into the plot of this film it's something that just doesn't work as it's something that we've all seen done better in other and better movies with it once again becoming very clear that the makers of this film only put alot of effort into making sure that you know that a beloved kids character is the main villain when what they should have done is put just as much if not more effort into giving us a plot that not only suits the Popeye character but is also new and different as well with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining and not really being really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Amy Mackie as Olive Oyl , Murdo Adams as Skits and Stephen Corrall as Lt. Lang. Also starring in this film is Paul Dewdney as Homeless George , Ross Dillon as Trent , Keith Hewitt as Detective Montgomery , Yu Heng Li as Monique , Seb Lord as Spike , this film writer , editor , one of this films producers and this films director Paul Stephen Mann as Detective Zanaletto , Donnamarie McCusker as A Mother , Joel McDade as Stevie , Ty Moore as Caller Wes , Brendan Nelson as Castor Oyl , Niamh Parrington as Cylinda , Leona Roberts as Lizzy , John Ryder as The Narrator and DJ Bruce , one of this films producers Alastair Statham as Detective Holmes , Alexa Wright as The Little Girl , David Hallows as Skinny Popeye and Tony Greer as Popeye.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty about as bad as you'd expect it to be. As the acting in one of thee films is never that good and will never be that good and that is something that does sadly continue with this film as well as all of this films actors are a bunch of unknown actors and so it would have been foolish of anyone watching this movie to expect good pr perhaps even great performances out of them with this films actors giving us performances that while there not that bad there just passable at best which to be fair is alot better then alot of the acting that's usually found in these types of films with it also being made perfectly clear that this films writer , editor , one of this films producers and director Paul Stephen Mann not only doesn't know how to direct to his actors and get the best performance out of them as he possibly could have done or that he put alot more focus on the fact that Popeye is the main killer of the film and so just did one take of every single scene of the movie as that's what this films acting feels like it feels like the kind of acting that you'd get on the first take of any scene with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

To say that this films characters are just the bogstandard slasher characters would be a huge understatement. As there really is nothing to any of this films characters including the muscle bound version of Popeye as all of the kids have the same personalities that were present in alot of summer camp slasher eighties movies with nothing new added to them outside of the fact that the makers of this film chose to make Olive Oyl a goth for literally no reason whatsoever with this being made when you take into account that none of this films characters outside of the obvious Popeye and Olive Oyl have nothing that make them stand out and feel unique to each other so much so that you could literally swap alot of the characters lines around and give them to other characters in this film and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference as that's just how badly written this film and it's characters are and while it does somewhat make sense that the makers of this film wouldn't spend alot of time developing these characters as the main star of the film is obviously going to be Popeye you still have to write them well and make us the audience care for them as if you don't do that then it means nothing when they do get killed off as us the audiences were never given a reason to care or even like these characters for that matter and this is something that alot of these types of films just don't seem to understand as there more focused on making money quick then they are in creating something that people will actually like and that is something that does more damage not only to there films but to this film as well.

Tog vie this film at the vert least some form of credit it does do something that none of the other Popeye horror films have done and that's actually use one of the titles of one of the original Popeye short films as the main title for your movie. Which to be a fair is a pretty good move as it does show that the makers of this film do have some understanding of what kind of film that there making so much so that they actually do in some comedic moments in this film not even to make it a straight forward horror comedy but enough to make sure that us the audience know that they know what kind of film that there making and that there just going to have fun with it sadly tho none of there jokes are actually funny as all alot of them are are just references to other and better horror movies with the movie even ending on a reference to the post credits scene from the 2013 remake of Evil Dead which just felt weird and out of place with there only being one laugh out loud intentionally funny joke as when we first the comet head towards earth it's this massive thing only for it to be revealed that it's the size of a pebble when it lands in a pre-muscular Popeye's pipe with there being another moment later on in the movie that whilst it was funny it's something that clearly wasn't to be funny as for one of the kills in the film Popeye kills an old man except all you see of the kill is the characters shadows just doing the same motion over and over again while the same sound effect plays over it which was just something that was so bad to see that it was funny to watch because of how bad that it was in the first place.

While this film does get alot of credit for also using a lesser known Popeye character in Castor Oyl the film still doesn't take full advantage of the fact that it's a horror film based on Popeye. With there being none of the other Popeye characters outside of Popeye , Olive and Castor that appear in this film as while the film does hint at the start of the movie that the pre-muscular Popeye is going to be Pappy they quickly get rid of that and while the film does have a character who does look like Bluto the film very quickly kills him off with the character not even being called Bluto with the one thing that would have made all of these Popeye horror films all the more better would have been if they did use the other characters from Popeye and even use the Sweet Heaven name as the main location as that then would allow you to put a horror spin on more then just the most well known character of the bunch and it would have been funny to see Wimpy still just eating a cheeseburger even when all of the characters are being killed which in something like Popeye's Revenge wouldn't have worked as they were playing the story straight but here it would have worked due to the films more comedic and light hearted nature and yet they don't do any of that as they instead play it safe just by having the most well known character in this case Popeye be the main villain which is great to clicks on the internet but it also makes the film alot less fun to watch because of it when if you did include more things from the lore of Popeye as they don't even include a scene with him eating a can of Spinach it would also show that the makers of this film not only knew what kind of film that that there making but that they knew that it was going to be bad film and just decided to have with it anyway.

For some strange reason the makers of this film chose to make Olive into a goth character which is just something that doesn't fit not only the original character but also this films version of her. As they don't really give a reason as to why she is the way that she is and why she dresses the way that she dresses outside of the fact that she's the smart one of the family and that's really it and that's not really enough to justify this change and heck all you'd need to do to justify this change is have one dialog where she says that feels like an outsider and that's why she dresses like she's a goth and heck this would even give her some form of connection to this film take on Popeye who goes from being a sweet old man just looking to do a spot of fishing to being mutated into this killing machine but for one reason or another the makes of this film chose not to put in any actual effort when it comes to explaining why the characters are the way that they are outside of Popeye as even tho the previous Popeye film showed that you can have all of the effort put into making sure that people know that this beloved cartoon character is your main villain and still have a good film with decently written character just by giving them just as much time and attention as your main lead gets and yet here the makers of this film only half did that as while characters like Olive and Popeye get some attention and to a lesser extent Castor does as well but none of the others do and what little attention the Oyl siblings get doesn't tell us much about there character and who they are as people with this being made all the more worse when you take into account that Olive is meant to e this films final girl.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirteen minuets and twenty nine seconds. Which even for one of these horror films which usually clock in at around one hour and thirty minuets is such a short amount of time as this film really does have more then plot there to cover not only it's current running time but also a slightly longer one as well as the film spends way two much on time on Popeye before he starts killing people with the first kill not happening until the thirty to thirty five minuet mark which given just how short that this film is the film needed to get to the kills by no longer then the ten minuet mark but for some strange reason the makers of this film chose not to use it's running time all that wisely be developing it's characters and instead just giving us a long and pointless scene with them dancing for literally no reason whatsoever which wouldn't be a bad thing if this film was one hour and thirty minuets as then you could get some character development out of it by having the characters just talking to whoever there dancing with at the time but because of the fact that the film isn't that long it makes that incredibly long and pointless sequence feel all the more pointless as that's screen time that could have been better spent by getting to the films kills alot quicker which is something that this film really did need to do and it's something that this films editor really should have done but given the fact that he was also the director , the writer and one of the producers it means that we are stuck with a pointless dancing that does nothing for the characters as it tells us nothing about who these characters are as people but I really will admit that this film really does have some really bad pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty the true highlight of the film. Not only because alot of them are really good and really entertaining but because of the fact that the one with the old man is just so bad that's laughable which really did make the film alot more entertaining to watch in the first place with this film having alot of really impressive kills that do take advantage of the fact that Popeye is meant to be super strong and because of that we get kills where het quite literally punches a person so hard that there head explodes upon impact with alot of this films kills being really over the top and goofy and while the best kill of the movie does oddly enough go to Popeye himself because of the fact that it's a really over the top and goofy kill as during the final fight with Olive she gets out what can only best be described as a souped-up chainsaw and just slashes at him which was fun to see in this film but at the same time tho what does let alot of this films kills down by quite alot is the fact that they do rely far to much on CGI blood which wouldn't be a bad thing if it wasn't all that noticeable but no it's something that you notice from the very first time that they use it and it's something that does make all of these fun and cool kills somehow seem less fun and less cool and more fake to watch in this very film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall out of the three Popeye horror films that are out there this is the most average one as while it's not as good as Popeye The Slayer Man was it's also not as bad as Popeye's Revenge was as there is some effort to make this film good and watchable it just has a few issues that could have been fixed with a longer running time and that's really it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really that does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , the official Popeye fandom wiki page and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Saw: The Final Chapter Film Review

Just like how all things must start they also must eventually all end as well but horror films just because the main villain is dead for good doesn't mean that producers won't somehow find a way to make more movies out of it. Case in point the film that i'm going to be revieing for you all today as despite it being touted , marketed and in some cases even titled as such this film is now not the final chapter of the Saw films and so then join me as I review the film that depending on either the cover of the DVD or the actual movie itself is either called Saw 3D or Saw: The Final Chapter with the film in question being called simply just "Saw: The Final Chapter" enjoy.

The plot of this film is after being found out as the Jigsaw killer at the end of the last film Detective Mark Hoffman has to avoid the police all the while a so called survivor of one of Jigsaw's traps now has to undergo one of the killers infamous games. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us un this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it was the kind of plot that you'd expect from these films at this point in time but that's also the problem as the Saw films were becoming pretty formulaic at this point in time and that is something that does show in the plots to each film as they really could be swapped around and nobody would notice with the only thing that sets this films plot apart from the rest of the Saw plots is that the police are only trying to find Hoffman so that they can arrest him and put an end to his killing spree which is something that none of the other films have done before now and it's that aspect of the films plot that does make it feel like a true finale as all of the recurring characters that are still alive in the film have all of there personal characters arcs wrapped up in a nice little bow with the main Bobby plot not really being the best plot as it's just that interesting when compared the police's plot of the film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Tobin Bell as John Kramer / Jigsaw and Costas Mandylor as Detective Mark Hoffman. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With alot of this films actors doing the absolute best that they could have done with the material that was given to them and while the likes of both Tobin Bell and Costas Mandylor do indeed turn in some really good performances in this film which is to be expected as they both a pair of really good actors in there right where the film starts to fall apart from an acting point of view is in the acting from the actors that are just joining the franchise with this film as there acting whilst it's not bad by any means it's clearly not all that good either with alot of this coming down to the fact that these Saw films where made pretty quickly and so nine times out of ten they couldn't go and do a take two and as a result of that is the fact that we the audience are left with performances that if they did get the chance to do a take two would really have been a whole lot more better then what they actually were and yet because they couldn't do a take two alot of this films acting really just at best feels wooded and stilted with the acting in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance really will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

What was not to be expected in this film ws the fact that Jill who played a major role in alot of the Saw films from Saw 4 onwards. Here takes on the role of a minor character with her not even doing all that much in the film outside of giving the police enough evident to convict Mark of his crimes and that's really it and while it would have been impossible for the writers of this film to write her character out of the film entirely given that she does so little that effects the police plot line for this film she might as well as not even be in the film and while she does get a send off that is not only worthy of her character but also of the films as well it's something that did feel like more of an afterthought and that might be because of the fact that this film was originally meant to be two films and so maybe Jill was meant to take on a bigger role in this film but a smaller role in the eighth film but because of the fact that Saw VI underperformed at the box office Lionsgate ordered that instead of making a two film finale they instead just make this film the finale and because of that Jill has a smaller role in this film which in the context of the film does make some sense but at the same time tho given just how pivotal that she was to alot of the Saw films it is something that feels like a disservice to the character where as if the makers of this film had the chance to stick to there plan of a two film finale then she might have been given not only more screen time and thus more to do in the film but also be given a more worthy ending to her characters as well.

If there's a few things that the Saw films are famous two of them is seeing how the current film connects to the other films and the other is seeing past characters return in new ways. With this film giving us the very long awaited return of Cary Elwes as Dr. Gordon with it being reveled that he's actually been helping John Kramer out since pretty much the beginning with it being revealed that he was the one who recommended Lynn Denlon and as well as setting up several traps from all of the other movies with his end goal only to look after Jill and to take action should she die which thanks to this film he does right away with him being quite swift and effective in doing so and while it could be argued that Jigsaw having another secret apprentice is an over done cliche at this point and that would be a very fair point to make here it is something that does make sense as they do it in a way that not only makes sense for his character as even John put him through hell on that first movie he also gave him advice on how to survive as well and with him being a doctor he would of course have files to alot of the characters that we've seen in the films but at the same time tho it would have been nice to see him taking a more active role in having him help the police out instead of working in the shadows and only appearing in a few scenes in this film as afterall how better to help catch Hoffman then someone who has worked with John Kramer himself but seeing him follow through on John's order to protect Jill does work as well even if it something that's not really all that well built up in the film as the character only appears in a few scenes in this movie and even then one of them is just to confirm that he's alive and the over is just to confirm that he visits a Jigsaw survival group and that's it with the rest of his his appearances until the end being in flashback form and that's really it.

If there's one thing that would have made this film a bit more better it would have been if they revealed that they main plot of the film actually already happened. As that would have been alot more interesting that having the plot with the police and the main plot be barely connected to each other at all as you can very easily remove the part where the police raid the building where the main trap is taking place and nothing would be lost but if you did something interesting with that take like oddly enough what they do in Jigsaw and reveal that the plot with the police is happening in the present and that main plot with Bobby is something that's already happened as then you could connect it back to the plot line with the police trying to track down Hoffman in some creative way and yet by not having the two connect in any meaningful way it means that the plot with the traps in it could takes place in literally any other Saw film and nothing that's actually important to the plot of this film would be missed when the Saw films did usually try to connect both the main plot of the film with the whatever the police plot for the film was at that time in ways that oddly felt creative and that showed that the makers of this film were actually smart as those revelations did more often then not have us the audience gasping as it was something that did usually catch us off guard and yet here by doing nothing with them it makes them feel disconnected from each other and yet all they'd have to do is have either John , Mark or Jill show up at the end of the main plot with the traps and have a conversation about something that we've seen in a prior film that still connects to the plot of this film and that's really all there is to it.

Even tho there have been a further three films in the Saw franchise since the release of this film this film really does feel like a finale. As everything that was set up in not only the first three films but from Saw IV onwards gets resolved in this film with even the fact that the film has Mark acting an effective killer outside of his more deadly games it's something that does get payed off in this film as we now know that when Jill does get put into the beartrap near the end of the film that she's not getting out of it because of the fact that in Saw V they set up the fact that he really is a dark sadistic killer who can if he wants to make sure then you never get out of one his traps and while that is something that does work for his film what doesn't work is that they go the slasher villain route with Hoffman by having be an effective killer when he's killing of nobodies but when it comes to the main character he suddenly doesn't know what he's doing and that is something that not only wasn't set up in the previous films but is also something that does make him seem like a less effective killer as well but when the films do set something up in one of the other movies it is something that you have to remember as odds are it was payed off in this film which helped to make sure that everything was tied up in a little bow and it also meant that it really did look like that the makers of the film film really did have an end game in mind and weren't just making it up as they went along which is something that does work for these new Saw films there more spread out over the timeline but for these films that are set one after the other having an endgame really did make these films so much more fun to watch.

Now then this film really does have an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty minuets. Which is pretty much the exact grand total running time that alot of these latter Saw film sequels had and to this films credit it really does have lore then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time given the fact that this film was meant to be the final Saw film ever made it really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as none of the characters have much in the way personality as none of them are given the time that they really did need to display what there personality was in the first place and the reveal that Dr. Gordon was secretly working with John Kramer the whole time really does come out of nowhere with both issues mostly being the result of the fact that this film was meant to be two different films with the Dr. Gordon stuff being something that was meant to explored further in Saw 8 which would have made alot more sense as here he's big reveal does feel like something that would be a great cliffhanger to end the film on and then in the eighth film you can then go into way he was working with John something which this film doesn't really take the time to full do and as for the new characters not being given any personality this is sadly something that is present in alot of the latter Saw sequels but it is something that very easily could have been fixed by giving this film a slightly longer running time as that would then allow for these newer character to get across what it is that there personality is meant to be like and that in turn would help us the audience not only care for them or hate them but also feel either sad or happy that they've been killed but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a Saw film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual traps that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual traps that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As we do get some really creative and really effective looking traps in this film which is something that does make alot of sense as it's the traps that these films are most well known and that people keep on coming back to these films to see regardless of if the films are any good or not and it's the same thing with this films traps as well as the makers of this film really did go all out when it came to creating to some of this franchises best looking traps with the best example of this being the pig trap at the end of the film as it just looks so cool and seeing that there really is no way that anyone could have gotten out of it makes it look all the more impressive and when you in the fact that it's technically attached to the much more simpler muscle trap as well which is great in how simple it is then it makes the whole thing a really effective looking trap that does also make you squirm but none of them are the best trap in the film as that honor goes to the reverse beartrap not only because of the fact that it's a legendary trap in it's own right but also because of the fact that it does play a big part in the police plot of the film which is something that makes it a really good trap in this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if this film was to be the final Saw film ever made then it would have made a really great ending as all of the plot lines that the film does indeed set up get payed off and while right now Saw 11 is struggling to get of the ground given that the alternative would mean getting a lesser quality Saw film it's better to wait and a get one good one every few years then getting lesser films every year in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now the  i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad rings that are in this very film in this very review and as such  that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , the official Saw fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images.

Popeye The Slayer Man Film Review

Every so often when you watch one of these horror movies when the main focus was clearly on the fact that the film has a beloved kids TV character as it's main villain you do sometimes find a diamond in the rough. With the film that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today being one such a film purely due to the fact that it actually has alot of effort put into it that actually make it look like a movie and not the pilot of a TV show and then join me as I review the film that has a pretty clever title with the film in question being called simply just "Popeye The Slayer Man" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a group of teenagers sneak into an old abandoned building that's due to be torn down only to find themselves haunted and hunted down by a mysterious sailor man. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty alot better then what it really had any right to be as this films plot is actually fresh and different with this films plot also tieing into the lore of Popeye The Sailor Man as well which was a nice thing as it shows that the makers of this film know the character that there adapting for this film and are willing to try and do something different instead of just giving the film the typical summer camp or mysterious house in the woods setting that alot of these films seem to go with where as here because of the fact that the have the kids searching a Spinach factory and have Popeye stalk them down in that building it does serve as a nice nod and a wink to the character with this films plot being alot of fun to watch where as with alot of these horror films the plot is usually a chore to sit through as it's something that you've seen been done better in other horror movies where as here because of the fact that this films plot is so new and different it forces you to pay attention alot more with the plot of the film being all the more because of it with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Sarah Nicklin as Adrienne , Angela Relucio as Margot and Elena Juliano as Olivia. Also starring in this film is Marie-Louise Boisnier as Lisa , Mabel Thomas as Katie , Scott Swope as Angus , Steven McCormack as Joey , Sean Michael Conway as Dexter , Doug Decker as Bernie , Jeff Thomas as Seth , Richard Lounello as Lex , Joel Frometa as Miguel , Nathan Todaro as Detective Caruso , Amanda Catapano as A Police Officer , Clayton Turner as Jesse , Paul Konye as Terry , Christian Elan Ortiz as Vincent and Jason Robert Stephens as The Sailor Man.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. Which is to expected from a horror film like this but at the same time tho this films acting isn't all that good as while the acting that we got in this film was easily ten times better then the acting in Goldilocks And The Three Bears: Death And Porridge that's not exactly a high bar to reach as after all this films actors are all mostly unknown actors still which means that it would have been foolish to expect good or even great acting from them and while this films acting would be seen as being passable at best in other and better films here tho since this sub genre of horror films typically has some really bad acting in it having acting that could be seen as being passable at best suddenly looks a lot more better then what it really could have been with the best actor in this film being Jason Robert Stephens as The Sailor Man who has the physicality needed for the role but at the same time tho he is a bit to tall to be playing Popeye but given that all of these films like to make the characters that there adapting really tall his performance in this film really does oddly work out really well with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good as that all this films actors really gave to do is just say the lines as they are written ad a good performance really will come out of them more naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Even tho this film does feature a nod to Olive Oyl in newspaper clippings the film doesn't go the typical route by having the character of Olivia be her. Which is something that they very easily could have done as the actor that they got to play Olivia Elena Juliano does look somewhat like the comic strip version of the character and while the film does start to heavily imply that she is her they right away get rid of it by having them be two completely different characters that just so happen to share the same first name which was refreshing to see as it not only gives us a good way to include the character in this film but it also means that should the film get a sequel which judging by how this ends they much could do and it would be interesting to see just what they do with her character as well but at the same time it does feel odd seeing a Popeye movie and not having any of the Popeye supporting cast of a characters in the movie as there's Bluto and there's no Wimpy either it's literally just Popeye on his own which does make sense given this films small budget but at the same time tho if your going to go out of your way to reference Olive Oyl then why not include some of the characters in creative ways as well as they to would most likely be copyright free now thanks to them being apart of the Popeye cast of characters and it would have made this film stand out as alot of the other Popeye horror films are just sticking to Popeye and maybe Olive Oyl and that's really it and yet while they don't outright say if Olive Oyl is alive or not it does now mean that she and other Popeye supporting characters are now free to appear in a future sequel should this film receive one.

Unlike alot of these horror films which just seem to use the typical summer camp or house in the woods setting seen in alot of classic eighties slasher films. This film actually dares to be different by being set in a factory which does allow for the makers of this film to get more creative with there camera shots and be more creative when it comes to things like lighting and the films kills something that just isn't all that possible all that much when your filming outside as then your at the mercy of the weather which can ruin your lighting very easily and yet the very fact that the makers of this film chose to go with a different location shows that there more willing to do the work and do something creative instead of relying on what's worked in the past and hoping that it'll work again without realizing what it was that made those original settings work so well in the first place where as here because of the fact that a factory setting really hasn't been used all that often in other horror movies it is something that makes this film stand out all the more because of it as while it's clear that alot of other horror film like this one put more effort into the fact that the killer is a beloved childrens character and nothing else here the makers of this film go to just as much effort into making the location not only feel lived in and grimy but also feel like a character in it it's own right which is something that is not really done all that much in not only horror films but in films in general and it's something that really does help to make the setting of any film feel alot more real then what it actually is.

The film does kind of do something with both the Olivia and the Popeye characters that might not work and might make the people who really do love the Popeye character angry. With that being that they make Popeye and Olivia brother and sister with it being implied that Olive Oyl is there mother which is something that isn't really confirmed in the film but there is a scene where Olivia does call Popeye brother not long after he's held a picture of Olive Oyl which is something that doesn't really work as everybody and there Grandma knows that Olive Oyl and Popeye are boyfriend and girlfriend and not brother and mother so unless your going to be doing something that's really radical in any future installment that makes this change to the characters make sense then it's a wonder as to why it was included in this film as it's not something that impacts the films plot in anyway whatsoever as you very easily could have removed that connection and nothing about the plot of the film would have been changed because of it and heck it could even be argued that having that change in the film makes Olive look like a bad person as she's now willingly left her son who was eating this contaminated spinach that was forcing him to do these heinous crimes in the first place and has now left her own daughter to fend for herself for so many years when it would have made more sense for them not to be related and have Olive be another freak like Popeye and have them meet and fall in love that way instead as having her be there mother only just makes her comes across as being a bad mother and something that they would have to address in any possible future sequel.

For some strange reason this film has kind of a Scooby Doo angle to it with the group of teens splitting up to look around this factory. Which they all know is haunted as all except for Olivia have lived in this same town for all of there lives and so it makes no sense for them to split up in this context even when the group does start getting killed off one by one they refuse to believe that it's the same person that they've heard stories about all of there lives which just makes them look dumb and while it doesn't go against anything that the film had already set up it also doesn't the films cause either as this films characters are at best OK with the ones that your meant to like being somewhat likable and that the ones that your meant to hate being really unlikable but having them act this dumb just makes it come across as the fact that the writer of the film wrote himself into a corner and didn't know how to have to have the teen to continue to be in this one building and so he has them act dumb when in universe these characters would know that the stories that they've heard is true as they'd be able to put two and two together and speaking of this films characters while yes the ones that you are meant to like are likable and the ones that your meant to hate are really unlikable alot of the rest of them just fall into the background with this being because of the fact that the film has to many characters for such a short running time and as a result of that is the fact that not all of this films characters can be as fully developed as the rest of them are.

Now then his film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty seven minuets and thirty eight seconds. Which is pretty much the exact grand total running time that you'd expect one of these films to have and whereas Goldilocks And The Three Bears: Death Porridge really doesn't have alot of plot there to cover it's running time this film however has more then enough plot there to cover it's running time however tho this film still doesn't use it's running time all that wisely either as as was just mentioned alot of this films characters aren't that well developed and as a result of that is the fact that alot of them are really forgettable characters that do blend into the background and while the film does have a really cool location with the factory it still would have been nice if the film took the time to explain why Popeye stayed in that factory as outside of the fact that he keeps on eating this contaminated spinach he has no reason to stay there and he very easily could have left whenever he wanted to but he just doesn't and while the film does somewhat explain why this version of Popeye looks the way that he does with him shockingly looking like the cartoon character what they don't explain us why the Spinach was effecting the people that eat it as surely there would have been more killings like what we see in this film and yet the film doesn't explain any of that which does make it feel more of an afterthought but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films kills being alot better then what they really had any right to be as by all rights given this films incredibly small budget then the kills in this films shouldn't have been that good but nope on the contrary we get some really good kills in this film with the film also making use of alot of good looking gore to help to sell you on the kills with it being helped by the fact that alot of this films are not really creative and different but that a few of them do play into who Popeye is as a character with one of the films best kills coming when Popeye uses an anchor to decapitate a guy which is fitting for Popeye as he is after all a sailor but that's not the best kill in the film as that honor is actually tie with the first one being where Popeye just straight up pulls on a girls hair so hard that it takes of the top of her scalp which was a really effective looking kill as well and the other being where Popeye just straight up rips a guys arm off which worked because of the fact that the person in question was a really unlikable character thus making his death feel earned with this films kills being a good example that the makers of these kinds of horror films can indeed turn in a film with decent looking kills if they can be bothered to do so and because of that this films does have some really good looking kills in it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film is quite easily one of the more better horror films that have a beloved kids character as the main villain it is still a pretty film in it's own right only this one does have alot more effort put into it that makes the film feel like less of a chore to sit through and one that some people might find enjoyable in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Film Review

Sequels are all the range in Hollywood these days with Hollywood bust churning out sequel after sequel. Yet what alot of those sequels have ...
