Five Nights At Freddy's 2 Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

Back in 2023 there was one horror film that nobody expected to be a hit film that being Five Nights At Freddy's. Yet it did turn out to be a very modest hit for Universal Pictures so much so that a little over a year later they announced the sequel and well the sequel has just been released and well I thought that i'd check it out for you all and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE review of the film that it could be argued is a Scream reunion with the film in question being called simply just "Five Nights At Freddy's 2" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when Abby starts to miss her robotic friends she decides to visit them inorder to fix them but a camera crew is also there and stir up trouble that could have deadly consequences for all involved. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty OK at best as this films plot really has nothing in it that makes it worth watching and yet at the same time the films plot is creative enough to make the film worth watching as it's a plot that we really havn't seen before now and while this films plot isn't strong enough to support an entire film you could also make that argument for the first films plot as well and yet somehow that film pulled off it's weak premise where as this film despite having the games creator on board as both a screen writer and a producer it somehow doesn't make it work with this films plot being the kind of plot that you could see working better as an episode of a TV show rather then something that you'd want to see in a movie as the films plot is just wafer thin at best with the film just dropping and picking up it's plot several times that it makes it hard to tell just what the main plot of the film is even meant to be in the first place as that's how forgettable that this films plot really is alot of the time with the plot of this film not even being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Josh Hutcherson as Mike Schmidt , Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa Shelly and Piper Rubio as Abby Schmidt. Also starring in this film is Freddy Carter as Michael Afton , Theodus Crane as Jeremiah , Wayne Knight as Mr. Berg , Teo Briones as Alex , Mckenna Grace as Lisa , Skeet Ulrich as Henry Emily , Kellen Goff as the voice of Toy Freddy , Megan Fox as the voice of Toy Chica , Matthew "MatPat" Patrick as the voice of Toy Bonnie and Matthew Lillard as William Afton.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of the actors that you expect a goo performance from giving us exactly that but that's also the problem as you expect those kinds of performances from alot of this films actors and therefor it's not all that surprising when they give you the performance that you expect from them which makes the performances in this film feel kind of predictable as you know what it is that your going to be getting with the actors in this film with the films more newer actors failing to make an impact as the film doesn't really give them a chance to and from a performance point of view they don't get alot of scenes to show us what it is that they can do in the process with the films best actor being Matthew Lillard as the man really is the only one who feels like that he's really actually trying to turn in a good performance in this film and it is something that does show as he really was a highlight of the first film as well and it is good to see him getting more and more mainstream roles again as he is a really good actor something which he does prove once again in this film with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that this is films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Character wise again much like the films plot there's really nothing to this films characters as they all feel like that they were created within a week. As to be frank none of this films character are all that interesting and while yes that was also a problem with the first film as well it could be argued that they were still coming up with the characters in that film and yet in this film the makers of this film should have known how to make there characters interesting or even passable but it seems like they took a huge step back when compared to the first film as in the first film they did have a thing where Mike was having nightmares about these children and learning to be an actual adult for Abby and yet here he comes across as a paper thin character that has nothing interesting about him with the same thing being true for Vanessa as well with even the the paranormal investigators that appear in the film only bein there to give the robots some more people to kill and that's really it with the only somewhat decent character being Abby herself as she really does believe that these robots are her friends with her even being someone who is into robotics which given what she went through in the first film does make sense for her character and while she's not as annoying as she really could have been she's also not that interesting of a character in the first place therefore it makes no sense for her to be this films main character especially if the makers of this film aren't going to do anything to make her interesting as they very easily could have made the school weirdo and have her struggle to come to gripes with what she went through in the first film as that is something that would scar any kid and yet she's brushed it off with her basically becoming a surrogate for the audience to see themselves as which is fine for the game but it's not something that works for the movie.

Much like the first film this film is also based of the game that it's named after which in this case is Five Nights At Freddy's 2. Just based off of a very quick read of the games Wikipedia page it does look like that this film does follow the plot of the game quite closely as the film does borrow quite alot of things from the game which depending on if your a fan of the games or not could be seen as being either a good or a bad thing as while having this film be more like the game does show at the very least some level of respect towards the source material but at the same time tho if your going to stick to the games plot as fairly closely as this film does then you might as well out the entire game on the screen as if you've played the game then you've seen the movie as there's pretty much nothing that's all that different between the two with this being what you get when you hire the person that wrote the game in the first place to be the sole writer of the film version as there should have been someone writing the script for this film who wasn't involved with the making of the game as then that person would know what stuff would make for an interesting film whereas here because of the fact that Scott Cawthon wrote both the game and this film it does mean that alot of the stuff from the game which again just based off of a very quick read of the games Wikipedia page doesn't make for a good film and heck the film even recreates the aspect of the game where the player has to use the security cameras to keep track of the robots which is great for gameplay but for the film it does result in a rather boring scene and while sticking close to the game can work heck just look at both Sonic The Hedgehog and The Super Mario Bros Movie as proof of that here tho it would have helped the film out if they did things that they didn't do in the game.

To say that the marketing for this film was really bad would be a huge understatement as there's not been all that much marketing done for the film. There was at most two trailers released months ago and a handful of posters and that's it and yet if you go outside you won't see the film being promoted anywhere be it on buses or on billboards there's nothing to tell you that this film is coming out therefor nobody would blame anyone if they either A didn't know that this film was coming out in the first place or B didn't know that this film was being made as there's just nothing to let you know that this film is being released say what you will about the first film but you at least knew that that film was coming out here tho there was nothing to tell you that the film was coming out with the makers of this film forgetting that they could have had the greatest film ever made on their hands but no one is going to know about it because there not telling us about it now granted this film will have some very stiff competition in a few weeks when Avatar: Fire And Ash comes out but it very easily could have won this weekend if people knew that the film was coming out but due to the fact that Zootopia 2 is actually doing pretty good at the box office and the fact that this is film was marketed really poorly this film will not make that much money either this weekend or in general and hopefully this fill teach the makers of this film to actually market the film as films like Borderlands have shown us that if you barely market a film then nobody is going to turn up for it and that is something that could very easily be the case for this film this is despite the fact that the franchise itself is still fairly popular

To be blunt there is a good chance that this could be the final Five Night At Freddy's movie not only due to the bad marketing and bad reviews as the first film also got bad reviews. With t also being due to the fact that the film isn't as fun as it could have been either as this is a film that had the potential to be a fun and dumb sequel as all of the things that needed to be set up were already done in the first film thus leaving this film to be more fun and just get on with things and give us things that they couldn't do in this first film yet it feels like that this film is alot less fun to watch as it takes itself far to seriously for it's own good which to be fair isn't a bad thing but when he film has scenes that could have been more fun if the film actually went all the way with it's ideas then it makes you wonder why they bothered to make this film as seriously as they did in the first place as this is a video game film so by all rights the makers of this film could have gone to those more fun places and it would have worked and yet because they don't it makes the film feel more of a chore to sit through as these should be films that are dumb films that don't really require you to think all that much about what's going on and yet because of the fact that we are forced to think about what's going on in the film that does mean that the film does come across as being all the more worse then what it already is in the first place as if we weren't forced to think about what's going on in the film then we the audience would be able to have a better time and except it for nothing more then what it is which is a dumb horror film and really nothing all the more then that.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty seven minuets and twenty two seconds. Which to be fair to this film is a perfectly solid running time or this film to have and while this film does have the right amount of plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place it also doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely as the films plot isn't that well developed with this being because of the fact that the film doesn't spent alot of time on focusing on it's plot with it instead focusing on other things other then it's plot with the film just doing things not to advance the plot but just for no reason whatsoever when the film could have spent alot more of it's running time in developing it's plot then showing us pointless scenes of Mike just going about his day to day life with this even effecting the films character development as the makers of this film don't even bother to develop any of there characters which is fine for the game as the audience is meant to be the main character in the game but here in the film there should have been alot of effort into giving the films characters some form of character development but the film seems to be more focused on giving us references to the game then it is in giving us actually good characters that are well developed when it could have done both just by giving us well written characters or by giving us scenes where the characters learn things and grow as characters as a result of that but due to there being no character development in this film it does mean that we know just as much about this films coming out of the film then we did coming into the film as that's just how little character development that the films characters get in this film with this being true for both the returning and new characters as well but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual horror that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual horror that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the film putting alot of focus on giving us jump scares much like the game which is fine enough as the jump scares in tis film can really effective when there done right but that's the issue tho as not alot of this films jump scares are done right with sadly alot of them feeling like they were only added in there because of the fact that the makers of this wanted to have a scare and not because there was alot of tension built up as more often then not in this film they won't bother with building up any tension before doing the jump scare as they'll just jump right to the jump scare with an awkward music cue which is just cheap and lazy but with that being said tho there is some effort put into one of the films kills as the films best kills happens at a school I won't what event is taking nor who it involves but it is something that should have been the main centre piece of the film instead of happening when it does and it should have involved more then just the one robot as while the kill itself is indeed really good and is the films best kill for a reason it also reminds you of just how much fun that this film could have been with that scene being a a good example of that as it would have been more fun if we got to see more robots just going absolutely nuts in the school and while this scene works fine as it is it would have worked better if the film took more advantage of it's setting and actually dared to be more fun in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall if you have the choice between this and quite literally any other film out right now go with the other film as chances are you'll have a much more better time with that film then you will with this poorly made and poorly marketed film as that's just how average that this film really is in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
