Weapons Film Review

2025 really was a good year for horror with there being quite alot of original horror films films coming out and while yes we did still get the odd sequel or remake we mostly got original horror films last. Heck even two of those horror films have now been nominated for OSCAR's with Sinners being nominated for sixteen awards and while the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today has only been nominated for the one it's the fact that we alot more horror films being nominated for OSCAR's in the first place that is something to always applaud and so then join me as I review the film that is now officially a prestige horror film with the film in question being called simply just "Weapons" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when all but one kid in her entire class goes missing a school teacher and a parent find themselves in the crosshairs of something really more evil then what either of them first thought. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films plot being one that is wholly original as unlike Sinner which borrowed elements of it's plot from the film From Dusk Till Dawn here everything in regards to the plot of the film is unique to this film with the films plot being told in the same way that it was told in The Hateful Eight where it's told in chapters only here we get to find out that all of the characters that we are meeting are all telling different parts of the same story with this being something that does help to make what could have been seen as a being a small time plot seem all the more bigger as now we get to see how it affects alot of the films characters with the film giving it's plot alot of focus all of which does go quite along way into making this films plot be all the more better then what it really should have been and while films like Sinners and even Good Boy for example might have the better plots it' this film and it's plot that is the more interesting to see as you never really know what's going to happen next with the plot of the film being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is one of this film executive producers Josh Brolin as Archer Graff and Julia Garner as Justine Gandy. Also starring in this film is Alden Ehrenreich as Paul Morgan , Austin Abrams as James , Cary Christopher as Alex Lilly , Toby Huss as Ed Locke , Benedict Wong as Marcus Miller , Sara Paxton as Erica , Justin Long as Gary , June Diane Raphael as Donna Morgan , Whitmer Thomas as Alex's Father , Callie Schuttera as Alex's Mother , Luke Speakman as Matthew Graff , Clayton Farris as Terry Miller , Scarlett Sher as The Child Narrator and Amy Madigan as Gladys.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films acting being alot more better then what it really had any right to be as quite alot of this films actors aren't big named actors and therefor it would have been foolish to expect good or even great performance from them and yet all of this films actors really do knock it out of the park performance wise with it being made clear as day that the makers of this film really did cast all of these characters really well as it is hard to picture anyone else playing these roles as it just makes to much sense for them to be played by these actors with the best actor in the film being a tie between Julia Garner , Josh Brolin and Amy Madigan as all three actors are just so good in this film with Amy being really creepy as the unassuming Gladys , Josh being really heartbreaking as a father who just wants to see his son again and Julia being really good as Justine who really gets all of the blame for all but one of her students going missing and she has to somehow really hide the fact that really is broken on the inside with that being something that really both she and Josh Brolin do really well with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Ingenuity Studios , Big Flick Rentals and The-Artery. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the films CGI mainly being used on the scene where the kids crash through several houses at the end of the film as for obvious reason your not going to have real kids doing something like that for real and to be fair to this film you really can't tell that it's CGI as it does look real with the rest f the films CGI mainly being used to extended the sets and that's really it and that's greats as that's how CGI should be used as there only fixing things that they couldn't help with on the day of filming and to do things that you for obvious reasons don't want to be doing with a child actor with the film making great use of mostly practical effects as while there is some amount of CGI done to characters faces when they become rage machines and start attacking whomever Gladys tells them to which even then it's done because of the fact that not alot of people can have there eyes come out like they do in this film and therefor the only way to do something like would be to have level of CGI on it to make it look good in the first place and while it would have been super easy for the makers of this film to go really over board with the CGI the fact that there is a strong focus on practical effects over CGI effects with the two blending together really well does show us that you can have a modern film without having a ton of CGI in it.

People always say that there are no original stories being told anymore and that all we get is sequels , reboots and remakes. Whilst that is true for the bigger studios if you look more deeper and look at what's coming out independently you'll notice that horror films in particular have been churning out original films for a long time and just because because there not mainstream films that win all of the awards doesn't mean there not there just look at films like Good Boy and Late Night With The Devil as prime examples of that as neither film was made by a major studio and neither film is that well known to the mainstream audience and yet they both managed to find an audience that really connected with them and while yes mainstream horror films like for example Scream 7 and to a lesser degree any of the horror films released by Platinum Dunes are all either sequels or remakes that doesn't mean that there aren't original films out there heck even the film that alot of people where hoarding as being an original film in Sinners technically isn't an original film as that film largely borrows it's plot from From Dusk Till Dawn and yet it got called an original film where as Good Boy and Late Night With The Devil that actually are original films went unnoticed all because of the fact that there not released by a major studio and while this film is both released by a big studio that being Warner Bros through there New Line Cinema line it is still an original film and it's one that does deserve as much love and attention as Sinners got for being an actual original film that did really well at the box office and yet for one reason or another not alot of people were talking about this film when it first came out.

One of the things that really doesn't work all that much in this film is the fact that it tells it's story essentially in chapters. As while this is a good idea it is something that does harm the flow of the story and the film mystery aspect as well as the film will just get going again when it suddenly cuts to black and starts up all over again with a new POV character which is fair enough as it does give us the audience a reason to keep on watching the film but at the same time tho it also makes this film feel alot more like a TV and alot less like a movie with those cuts to black essentially being the end of an episode with it affecting the mystery as the film only gives us clues as to what really is going on when the film focuses on three characters those being Alex , Justine and Archer and that's really it and even then those characters have there stores spread quite far apart with the film not really bothering to give us much more of a clue during all of the characters stories which is something that would be fine if this wasn't a mystery film and yet because it is a mystery film that does mean that they have to give us clues in order for us the audience to work out for ourselfs just what really is going on with this something that could have been fixed if the film just cut down on the alot of the pointless character stories as we don't need to see what James , Paul and Marcus were doing as there stories don't have that much impact on the films main story and yet because of the fact that the film does have all of those stories being told which don't get me wrong does lead to some really good scenes it does mean that small things like the lack of a good mystery do have to get sacrificed.

One thing that both does and doesn't work is the relationship between Justine and Archer it works in the respect that they are the only adults in this possibly small town actively looking for these kids and therefor they team up with each other to help each other out. However it doesn't work in the respect that Archer at the start of the film was openly accusing Justine of possibly kidnapping the kids one of which included his own son with there not really being a moment in the film where the both of them realized that how they've been acting all through out the film was more hurting there cause and not really helping it with this being something that very easily could have been fixed either with a line of dialog or a look from Archer after he's just saved Justine from being killed off by Marcus as then he would have seen for himself that the things that she's been saying to him and the whole town for that matter was the truth and therefor he would want to help her and she would need his helps as he knows what general direction the kids were all running in the morning they all disappeared yes it is a small issue grated but it's a small issue that does effect the film in a big way as the film rests on us the audience buying into the fact that they would help each other out and yet without a scene in the film were the characters acknowledge either that they need help or that they were in the wrong for treating the other person so badly in the first place it is something that makes there relationship come across as being forced and not something that these two characters would possibly do in the first place and yet if the makers of this film did remove the chapter aspect of the film then it would have allowed for a moment like that to happen in the first place.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and eight minuets and twenty nine seconds. Which for a horror film is a tad bit on the long side but in saying this tho this is a film that really does need that long of a running time in order to properly tell it's story and do justice to it's plot as if you made this film even five or ten minuets shorter then you would run the risk of doing alot of harm to the film plot with this film having more then plot there to really over that amount of running time in the first place and yet this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as this film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot something which it can't do due to the more episodic nature of the films plot and while yes there is a main plot of the film going on the film can't develop it as just when the plot really gets going again it cuts to a different POV character and therefor has to start all over again and while this doesn't really effect te films character development all that much as the characters that you want to see get more developed as characters do get their time to shine but the film still doesn't fully develop it's characters as while the film does develop Justine and Archer it doesn't develop the rest of it's characters with characters like Alex and Gladys for example coming across as being very one note and one dimensional characters which would be fine if they were just side characters but there not there meant to be main characters and while the film does have an in story reason for us not finding out all that much about Gladys as she gets introduced late into the film with Alex tho there's not really an excuse as the film does revolve around him and yet we don't really get to find out all that much about him as a character but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With it being made clear as day that the makers of this film out alot of thought and effort into giving us some really memorable kills as even tho there aren't that many kills in the film the few that there are stand out all the more due to how impactful that they are and how well done that they are as well and while Gladys isn't that well developed as a villain just due to how late into the story that she's introduced it's her death that's the best kill in the whole entire as we get to see get chased through several houses and down the street before getting tackled to the ground where she is then dismembered by all seventeen kids that she had bewitched with her death being the most gory death in the whole film with it being made obvious that the makers of this film knew that we would want to see a good death for her character as they go out of there way to give us exactly that and while the film does have plenty of other gory moments like Justine slicing of a part of Paul's face during the third act or even Marcus headbutting his husband to death it's the death of Gladys that works all the more due to the fact that she is this really evil person with the film having some really good deaths in it as well all of which do make this film to be even more creepy then what it rally should have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst yes Sinners is the more better film and totally deserves all of the nominations that it got that doesn't mean that this film should be forgotten about even more so when it's been OSCAR nominated as well as this is a film that really does deserves all of the praise that it got and then some in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Film Review

Sequels are all the range in Hollywood these days with Hollywood bust churning out sequel after sequel. Yet what alot of those sequels have in common is the fact that we the audience know about them before hand the same thing cannot be said for this film as this film was filmed in secret along with 28 Years Later and well as I reviewed that film when it first came out it makes sense that I now review this one and so then join me as I review the film that has a group of characters all with the same name with the film in question being called simply just "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when he falls in with a gang of people all called Jimmy Spike has to find away to get himself out of trouble before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with this films plot not only picking up where the previous film left of but doing so in a way that feels natural and organic with this films plot being one that is something that could apply to real life as well as little kids do find themselves joining gangs and so find themselves in similar situations that Spike in this film finds himself in as well and yet it's not that plot of the film that's the most interesting rather it's the plot with Dr Ian Kelson that's the more interesting plot as he forms somewhat of a friendship with a member of the infected and has to do whatever it takes to keep his friend safe which is a far more interesting as it does show that both infected and uninfected alike can co-exist with Spikes plot being the more duller of the two plots as you know right away where this plot is going and yeah it goes to those exact same places in that exact same order which is something that does make that plot feel more predictable where as the the plot with Dr. Ian Kelson isn't that predictable as his story is one that hasn't been done before now with the overall plot of the film being more weaker when compared to the plot of the previous film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Ralph Fiennes as Dr Ian Kelson , Alfie Williams as Spike and Erin Kellyman as Jimmy Ink / Kelli. Also starring in this film is Chi Lewis-Parry as Samson , Emma Laird as Jimmima , Sam Locke as Jimmy Fox , Robert Rhodes as Jimmy Jimmy , Ghazi Al Ruffai as Jimmy Snake , Maura Bird as Jimmy Jones , Connor Newall as Jimmy Sh*te , Louis Ashbourne Serkis as Tom , Mirren Mack as Cathy , David Sterne as George and Sinners star Jack O'Connell as Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films actors turning in some really good performances something which does make alot of sense as alot of this films actors are not only a bunch of really good actors in their own right but are also reprising their roles from the previous film which does mean that they would have a much more better grip on their characters and would know how best to perform there respective characters with the same thing even being true for Jack O'Connell who only appeared in what is basically a cameo role in the previous film here feels like that he's been playing the character for a long time as he just slips into character perfectly with him even being the films best actor as while alot of the other actors in this film had that previous film to start to get a handle on just who there characters are he really only had this film and yet he turns in such a good performance in this film with his character being one that was really well cast something which could also be said for all of this films characters but with Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal it's even more true as Jack is given permission to go as over the top with the character as he deems fit something which he does take great pride in doing in this film with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so goo that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Like with the previous film this films characters aren't that well done and while the previous film had the excuse of it was setting up things for this film this film really doesn't have that going for it. With this films characters being at best dull characters that don't have alot going for them and at worst just straight up forgettable which is sadly the case for lot of Jimmy's gang as alot of them don't have anything about them that makes them standout and sadly the only decently down characters are the characters that are returning from the previous film and even then you could argue that those characters are only good because of the fact that that film did alot of the heavy lifting for them as this film really doesn't do anything for it's characters as it doesn't expand upon what was set up in the previous film and instead just makes them feel like an afterthought with the only somewhat interesting character Jimmy Crystal and that's really it and even then that's more due to the fact that he's insane and therefor you have no idea of what it is that he's going to do next which is something that does feel true to his character with even Ian feeling a bit of a let down character wise as he was set up really well in the previous film as being someone who many believed to have gone insane something which he did somewhat live up to in that film and yet in this film we don't get to see that aspect of his character heck we don't even get to see him act like an actual doctor in this film with him instead spending alot of time with Samson and that's really it when the makers of this film could have done so much more with this character as they could have had him act as the moral compass for the film something which would put him in direct contention with Jimmy and would naturally make the two of them enemies and yet none of that happens in this film.

In what could be seen as being an odd move this film was actually filmed pretty much back to back with the previous film. With it not really being known that this film was even a thing until AFTER filming had ended with this film doing what they did in Avengers: Endgame where they had characters that played a bigger role in Avengers: Infinity War not get as much if any screen time in Endgame and it's same thing here as characters that got alot of screen time in the previous film like Spikes dad for example get very little to know screen time in this film with this being something that does work well enough to this films advantage as it does make the story of both of these films feel alot more bigger a even tho this kind of approach is usually done for a practical reason when it's done right it does also allow for the story to feel alot more bigger and for the world of the film to feel alot more bigger as here even tho we don't get to see the characters that we saw in the previous film we do still get a continuation of there journey and of there struggles and yet if this film was done in the more traditional sense then that might be something that could have been lost as then you'd have to contend with actors growing older which is something that is fine for alot of the more adult characters but for characters like Spike it wouldn't have worked as his story works best because of the fact that he is a kid who is just struggling to find himself in the world and that kind of story would only have worked if this film was done in the way that it was done and the fact that they managed to keep the whole film a secret is wonder to behold in it's own right.

Without giving away a single thing about what happens at the end of this film there is something that happens right at the very end of the film that does confirm that people that fans thought might get together did infact get together. This was something that was a bit of a shock as while it was all but confirmed that this person would be returning in this film it was never said how and the fact that he was kept out of all of the marketing for the film was a great thing as it does make his inclusion in the film to be all the more surprising but given the fact that right now he is only in talks to appear in the third film whenever that film gets made then there is a chance that this films ending might get dropped which is a shame as the idea of this character having a kid is a good idea and it's one that could only work if he appears in the third film as realistically you wouldn't have the kid go out on there own without the father being there as you'd have to set up why they left there home in the first place but given that this franchise is usually really good with it's endings and actually following through on them this does seem like something that well get followed up in the third and final film of this mini trilogy but given that this film isn't doing the numbers that the studio want even when compared to the previous film with this being more due to the fact that this film came out less then a year after the previous film did and had little to know build up to it's release it does seem fairly unlikely that we'll be getting that third film but given that they are still talking about making it happen is a positive sign and hopefully that third film will be made as the story being told across these films with Spike is one that is genuinely quite interesting to watch.

As you all no doubt know Jimmy and his gang called The Fingers are all styled after offender Sir Jimmy Savile. I wont say what he got in trouble for as it's far to disgusting even for me to say but nonetheless making someone dressed like him be the main villain of the film is something that does make alot of sense as the audience is going to be taking one look at how this character is dressed and if your in England your going to be booing him anyway and to the films credit Jimmy Crystal does come across as being a good villain as he's one that does his charm to make you want to join his gang and that makes you want to appease him by killing whomever he tells you to and while he has no end goal in mind which is something that would be seen as being a bit of bad thing here it is something that does work as this character is meant to be insane and so of course he's going to believe that what he's doing is right and that he's in the right all of the time and that does mean that he won't have an end goal in mind and while having characters that are insane and have an end goal could work heck just look at characters like The Joker and Freddy Krueger as prime examples of that it's not really something that's needed especially when the character much like the person he's based off of is charming and those types of characters don't usually need an end goal to make you hate them as they do that just by making you want to do all of these things in the first place and while yes it would have helped if Jimmy did have an end goal like maybe he wants more members to join his gang and the only way that he can think of to do that is to kill people yeah that's a bad plan but it's at the very least something but this character works just as well without having an end goal in mind.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty three minuets and fifty nine seconds. Which is a bit of long time for a zombie themed horror film to last but given that this film focuses more on the humans then it does zombies it does somewhat make sense for the film to be this long with the film having more then enough plot there to cover that amount of running time in the first place yet this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time that it has to fully develop it's plot with the film instead beg more focused on giving us pointless scenes with Ian and Samson which fair enough is great for there little plot in the film but it adds nothing to the overall plot of the film as that is sadly Spike's plot and that is something that could have used alot more screen time to get the development that it really did need and while it could be argued that alot of the characters got there character development in the previous film which would be a fair enough case to make it still would have been nice if we got to see alot of the characters that got alot more screen time in this film get there character development and yet even tho Ian and Jimmy have a fantastic scene together near the end of the film it's not something that reveals more about who Jimmy is as a character when is something that should have been the case due to the fact that he's the films main villain and yet we know just as much about him at the end of the film then we did coming into the film when if the film took the time to delve more into him as a character it would have made him be even more unlikable then what he already is but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt tat the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. While this film doesn't really focus all that much on the horror aspect of the film as it does come across more as being a psychological thriller then it does a straight up zombie film its when the film does focus on being a zombie film that we get to see some really good moments in the film case in point the films best kill which happens right at the start of the film where we see a rage filled Samson rip off another dudes head and pulls out his spleen which was something he did all the time in the previous film an it's something that's still effective in this film and while the film doesn't focus that much on the zombies the humans themselves actually get alot of really good kills themselves with all of this films kills being as gory as you'd want them to be which is something that does make those kills look really good but in saying this tho the humans kills just aren't that good as there's only so much that they can do with the human characters and sadly that does mean that we can't that many good or even creative kills from them and yet with Samson due to the fact that he's a zombie it does mean that we get alot more creative kills from him which is something that he does take somewhat full advantage of in this film as even tho he only gets one kill in the film it is still a really good kill that does show you that the makers of this film knew how to come up with alot of really creative kills in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while this film does have the potential too be a really good film it's bogged down by the fact that the main plot just isn't that interesting and the fact that this zombie movie doesn't actually focus on the zombies something which the previous film did do really well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all o the good and a well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as sch that really does mean that tis very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 6 out of 10 from me.

Sinners Film Review

To say that last year was a good year for horror film would be a huge understatement as we got alot of really good and sometimes even great horror films last year. With the film that i'm going to talking to you all about today being one of my favorite films of the year not just in the world of horror but just in general as it was just that good in the first place and while some people might say that this film was over hyped i'd argue differently then that as there are more films that hot more hype then this film did just look at K-Pop Demon Hunters as proof of that and then join me as I review the film that is basically just a remake of From Dusk Till Dawn with the film in question being called simply just "Sinners" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when two identical twin brothers open up a Juke Joint on opening night they really have to fend for there lives when the place and it's patrons really are attacked and turned into vampires. Now then  interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of this film not really being fresh in a certain sense as it does copy the idea of From Dusk Till Dawn but it is original in the way that it tells that same idea as here the whole film is told from the point of view of African Americans in the early 1930's which is something that does open itself up to alot of story potential which to be fair to this film is something that the film does take full advantage by having several other stories all take place as well and by having alot of the characters deal with the kind of racism that is still around to this very day and that is something that does help to make to make this film repeated plot line seem new and original again with the thing that lets the films plot down also being one of the biggest strengths that being the fact that the film does spend a whopping forty minuets just on having the brothers set up the place and hire all of the staff and that's it which is something that could be seen as being dull and boring as nothing new is added to the plot but it also works as it sets up all of the key characters in the film as well with the plot of this film being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring inn this film is Michael B. Jordan as Elijah "Smoke" Moore and Elias "Stack" Moore and Miles Caton as Samuel "Sammie" Moore. Also starring in this film is Wunmi Mosaku as Annie , Jayme Lawson as Pearline , Omar Benson Miller as Cornbread , Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim , Peter Dreimanis as Bert , Lola Kirke as Joan , Li Jun Li as Grace Chow , Saul Williams as Jedidiah Moore , Yao as Bo Chow , David Maldonado as Hogwood , Helena Hu as Lisa Chow , Andrene Ward-Hammond as Ruthie , Nathaniel Arcand as Chayton , Emonie Ellison as Therise , Hailee Steinfeld as Mary and Jack O'Connell as Remmick.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the fact that this films acting being so good not really being something that's all that surprising as alot of this films actors are a bunch of really good actors in their own right and even alot of the films more lesser known actors turn out good because of the fact that there acting opposite some really good actors with the fact that this films acting is so good being helped by the fact that this films writer , producer and director Ryan Coogler really does know how to get a good performance out of all of his actors a skill that he has shown of in all of his movies and pulls of again here in this film as all of this films actors are just simply a joy to watch in this film with the films best actor being none other then Michael B. Jordan as he has to play two completely different characters in the same scene as each other and yet make both characters feel completely different from each other something that would have been a hard enough task for any actor to do and yet he pulls it off tremendously with Smoke really being the more careful one of the two who is always quick to fire his gun where as Stack is the more lighthearted easy going one who would rather charm you then shoot you with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Storm Studios , Rising Sun Pictures , Industrial Light & Magic , Base FX , Outpost VFX , Light VFX and Baraboom! Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the film not really having that much VFX in it and yet what little VFX are in this film work so well as it's blended in with the films live action effects with really the only VFX shot in the whole film being the flames that engulf the vampires at the end of the film and that's really it as nine times out of ten VFX is only used to extend things that were on the day or in the case of Michael B. Jordan make it look like that he's talking to himself when in actuality he's talking to a body double which is a really convincing effect as it is something that does make you wonder how they managed to pull of the shots with both of the twins in the same shot and yet it's something that does work really well in the context of the film as this is how VFX should be used as all there doing is enhancing what was already there on the day of filming and that's really it and that is something that will all of this films VFX age alot more slowly as it is hard to tell what it is they did for real and what was done inside of a computer outside of the fact that they light the vampires on hire as your obviously not going to light a real human actor on fire but even then the effect is so convincing that it does end up working really well in the film.

When this film came out it got alot of praise for being original and while yes granted there are some original elements in this film one of those elements is sadly not the films plot. As you can tell right from when the vampires first enter the film that this film is going to be nothing more then a redo version of From Dusk Till Dawn and yeah it plays out in the exact same way that that film played out and heck even both films have alot of the films action take place in a bar with the only difference being that this film uses mostly African Americans and that's really it and heck even both films have one of the brothers get turned into a vampire fortunately people have started to catch on that this is another version of another movie but it is something that makes you wonder why the makers of this film tried to borrow elements from that film and then pass it off as there own idea and heck even several reviews on the films DVD call this film an original idea and while yes the film does have alot of original ideas in it that's fair enough but the central idea for the film was one that was already done in the mid nineties and yet movie critics both in America and over her in the UK are trying to pass this film of as an original idea now granted this is Ryan Cooglers first original film as alot of the films that he's directed and wrote the script for are based off of pre-existing IP's but even this film can't be called fully original as it's just not granted he might he might have been inspired from From Dusk Till Dawn and wanted to tip his hat to that film in which case fair enough but there's tipping your hat then there's outright copying it and this is something that this film just barely does.

There's no way to get around this as one of the films central themes is racism which given when this film takes place in is something that does make sense. As we see not only the brothers but also Grace and her family expirence it as well and it is something that should be talked about due to the fact that all of the vampire characters at first are not only all white people but some of them are even members of the KKK that actively abuse both of the brothers with this theme being handled alot more subtly then what you might thing it would as he film doesn't outright say that this is what there talking about rather they'll have just a few characters say something to one one of the other characters and that's it with the rest of it being told through visual storytelling which is something that does make this arguably more effective but to be fair to this film tho it is something that really wasn't needed in this film as while yes back then people were alot more openly racist to people we go to the movies to escape real life issues and while yes people have the right to talk about whatever it is that they want to talk about in their own movies it is something that should be down with caution as this is something that very easily could come across as being very heavy handed with this being something that does almost happen to this film as like was mentioned alot of the films white characters are racists and those that aren't get turned into vampires with there being no middle ground as all of the African American characters are all presented as being the good guys with there being no middle ground for them ether and yet if the film did show characters from both sides being either evil or good then it would have given them some wiggle room when it comes to the films main theme.

There was one shot in particular that really did blow alot of people myself included away that being the oner where they have the characters dancing in the bar and the camera just keeps going incorporating not only different styles of music like rock and jazz but also adding in modern characters to show how music can touch people of different generations. With the one long take lasting about five minuets of screen time as it ends when the camera pans up to the sky with the bar in fire and the people still dancing and then ends on a close up of Remmick which was just such a cool shot and it's one of those shots where it does make you how they did it due to the fact that there's so much that goes into pulling of a shot like that not only from a practical point of view but also an effects point of view as well and yet the makers of this film did pull of so well with it really being the best shot in the whole entire movie just due to how much things that it has to incorporate in to it with the fact that they add in people from more generations being something that you might notice upon a first viewing but it is something that you notice a second time around as it is something that does highlight how music can touch people of any generation and while yes the whole shot might be seen as being a dream just due to the fact that the bar isn't really burning down it is something that does help the sequence look all the more visually impressive then what it already is in the first place and the fact that it ends up on a close upshot of the films main villain is a subtle way of telling us the audience that the characters have had there fun and that it's time for them all to suffer.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly two hours and seventeen minuets and thirty eight seconds. Which for a horror film is a bit on the long side as the film really didn't need to spend as long as it does in just showing us how the brothers got there bar in the first place as you very easily could have dine all of that in just the first ten minuets of this film but to be fair tho this film really does have more then plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place with the film using it's running time as the film does fully develop it's plot with alot of the films plot development coming from the scenes prior to the vampires attacking the bar as we get to see just what music means to these characters and how it could possibly come into play in the rest of the film with the film even giving it's characters alot of character development as well with alot of their character development oddly enough coming in the films opening forty minuets which show us just all of the characters relationships to each other and how much they mean to each other something that would have been lost if the film did loose those opening forty minuets as while the seem pointless on the surface as nothing happens plot wise what we get in those scenes are these smaller character moments that help to fully flesh out all of the films characters and that is something that is key to making both the film and it's characters work as without those scenes we the audience wouldn't have a reason to care for it's characters and want to see them make it out of the film alive and well but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With the film not really having alot of kills in it the ones that it does have work so well s the film does give us time to let us get to know there characters and therefor when they are killed of we do feel something for them with this being something that this film does do kind of well as while the film does have alot of pointless scenes before the kills take place it's those pointless scenes that give us a chance to get this films characters in the first place with the best kill in the whole film being when Remmick and his crew of vampires start to attack Smock and Stacks's bar in the first place as while Stacks has already been killed at this point seeing him go toe to toe with his brother while the rest of their friends are quite literally fighting for their lives which is something that does make that sequence really worth watching and heck we do get some really impressive looking gore effects in that sequence as well and while yes granted the film does have some really impressive kills in it as well they just can't top the pure madness that is that one sequence as it really just so good with the film worth watching just for that one sequence as that's when we get to see all of the vampire carnage that a film like this should deliver with it doing so in spectacular fashion in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall both this film and Weapons have proven that not only can original films be good but so can original films in general as all you need is the right creative team behind them to make them as good as they could have been and that's exactly what this film had as this creative team made this films as could as it really could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad thigs that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Frankenhooker Film Review

For some odd reason whenever a character gets popular especially in the world of horror the only thing that alot of these low budget filmmakers seem to think is the funny thing to do with them is to turn them female. Which granted worked well enough for The Invisible Man but it is something that really is oddly also done with Frankenstein as that's the very thing that the makers of the film that i'm going to be talking to you all about today did and so then join me as I review the film that oddly enough has a quote on the poster from an actual Ghostbuster with film in question being called simply just "Frankenhooker" enjoy.

The plot of this film is sometime after he accidentally kills his fiancée Elizabeth an amateur scientist called Jeffrey Franken tries to bring her back to life by using parts of other peoples bodies. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad with the films plot basically being a cult hit film version of the plot from Frankenstein only now it's set in modern day 1990 and that's really it and to be fair that's all this film really needed as you can tell right from the plot of the movie that this films plot was never going to be that good as the film does spend a shockingly high amount of time just in setting up the plot of the film then it does in actually telling us the plot of the film which is something that does make huge portions of this film plot feel unneeded and nothing more then filler but at the same time tho it's those scenes that do add to the films camp factor as this is a film that by the title alone you just know is going to be campy and have elements of camp in it and while the films plot isn't as good as it really could have been it's also not as bad is it perhaps should have been either as you really can tell that the makers of this film really are paying a loving homage to certain aspects of the Frankenstein story which really is fair enough but at the same time tho it really does rob this film of the chance to be it's own unique thing with the few unique ideas that this film does have feeling very rushed and thrown in at the last second with the plot of this film also not really bein really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is James Lorinz as Jeffrey Franken and Patty Mullen as Elizabeth Shelley / Frankenhooker. Also starring in this film is Charlotte Kemp as Honey , Lia Chang as Crystal , Jennifer DeLora as Angel , Heather Hunter as Chartreuse , Kimberly Taylor as Amber , Shirley Stoler as Spike , Louise Lasser as Mrs. Franken , Joanne Ritchie as Mrs. Shelley , J. J. Clark as Mr. Shelley , Carissa Channing as Dolores , Helmar Cooper as Detective Anderson , Joseph Gonzalez as Zorro and Paul-Felix Montez as Goldie.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As while this film was never ever going to win any kind of awards for it's acting or it's plot you can still tell that this films actors were at the very least trying to turn in a good performance as they all do a passable job of portraying there respective characters with even untrained actors like Patty Mullen who had done a few other films before retiring from acting after being in this film and Charlotte Kemp being really good in there respective roles with the best actor in the whole entire film being James Lorinz as Jeffrey Franken as he does get alot of the films more darkly funny lines all of which he does manage to pull off really well with him really carrying this whole film on his back as alot of this films actors are models with no acting expirence and yet you still can tell that he's having a blast in this film with the only thing that really lets down this films acting is the fact that all of this films actors do feel lost with it feeling like that that this films director and co-writer Frank Henenlotter really had no idea of how to direct his actors with the thing that really does let down the overall the quality of the acting that's in this very film being he fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this fi9lms actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Character wise this film does about as well as you'd think that a film like this one would do as none of the films characters are really memorable but there also not forgettable either. As characters like Jeffery and the titular character are indeed very memorable characters with both character displaying traits that do help to make them stand out alot like for example Jeffery inorder to calm himself down alot of the time will drill a hole into his own head which is a uniquely funny and quirky idea with the character even frequently questioning on if what he's doing is the right thing or not which was something that we don't really see in a horror films and yet here even tho it was mostly played for laughs is still something that this character does still process a basic understanding of right and wrong and with the films titular character when she eventually brought back to life by Jeffery the only things that she can say are the things that the girls that Jeffery killed to get the parts that he needed last said to him which again is a unique idea and yet it's one that doesn't get fully explored in this film as it's one that's mainly played for laughs with the films characters being let down by it's side characters as all of them come across as being very dimensional characters at best as none of them have anything interesting about them that makes them stand out from one another even Zorro who it could be argued is the films main villain doesn't have anything interesting about his personality outside of the fact that he has clear anger issues and that's really it with it being made clear as day that the makers of this film were just banking on people watching the film because of it's title and not because of the fact that it has memorable characters or a decent plot in it in the first place.

As you all can no doubt work out or the films title this film is a more modern retelling of the Frankenstein story. However unlike Young Frankenstein which took it's inspiration from the 1931 movie this film seems to take it's inspiration from both the book and the film only it does nothing new and funny with them when it really could have done plenty of funny things just with the 1931 movie alone and yet it instead chose to tell the most basic and uninspired story that it could have done and yet if you look at Young Frankenstein as even tho that film is pretty much just that original film but told in a more comedic tone they chose to keep on playing it straight and do things lie they most likely would have done in the original film to make the comedy all the more funnier which had the adverse effect of making the films plot seem new and original as well and yet here in this film despite the fact that it's set in the nineties everything about this film just doesn't feel right as they could have gone to new and interesting places with the original material and yet outside of the last names of both Jeffery and Elizabeth there's nothing that really makes this film feel like a Frankenstein parody which is where the film shines it's best as does give a chance for us to see these truly iconic scenes but done in a nineties fashion and yet the film only does that once in the whole film and yet if the film adapted scenes from the original novel which they would have had every right to do but instead of playing them straight they instead played it up for laughs then it would have made this film feel like an original take on the story as it would have been lovingly poking fun at what made the original novel work so well in the place and yet for one reason or another the makers of this film instead chose not to go that route with this film which does leave us with a film that doesn't feel as good as it perhaps could have been.

This film was never destined to be a hit film as just by the title and plot of the film alone it was always going to be a cult film. With it eventually becoming exactly that and that's exactly where this type of film does thrive as it then allows the film to go to those weird and out there places that more mainstream films just would never do and yet because of the fact that this film does indeed go to those places be with Frankenhooker only being able to say the last thing that the owners of the parts she's now wearing said or the fact that her insides are quite literally just made up of electricity everything about this film just screams cult film and while yes there might be other better cult films out there this one does deserve it's credit as well as this film did indeed do some wacky and out there stuff all of which are things that do work in the film and even the fact that the makers of this film managed to get a quote for the poster by Ghostbusters icon and star Bill Murray is more then enough to make this film feel like a cult film and heck this film even could have had a sequel as there places to go with the story that would have been just as wacky and out there with the rest of the film and while this film does indeed put more of a focus on it's horror then it's comedy the films comedy is still pretty decent in it's own right the film having plenty of dark jokes that will manage to get a smile out of people with perhaps the ending of the movie being the best joke of the lot which i'm not going to spoil as its a joke that you really do need to see in order to believe as it is a joke that does fit the movies more wacky and campy tone with the only thing that does let the films comedy down quite a bit being the fact that the films really doesn't go all the way with alot of it's jokes.

To put it frankly Jeffery's plan was never going to work in the first place as his plan revolves around him finding fresh parts to rebuild his girlfriend. Which he does find by killing hookers but due to the fact that he promised to rebuild them as well it means that he was always going to be killing and rebuilding the same people so he would have found himself in a never ending circle that would have seen him being driven mad due to the fact that he would killed alot of people whereas if he just said that he wasn't going to rebuild the hookers then he could have ended the circle when he rebuilt his girlfriend as that was his original goal but due to the fact that he also promised to rebuild these girls who he barely knows as well it means that eventually he'll either get arrested by the police due to the fact that he would have killed alot of people or he would been driven insane either way it was a plan that was never going to work in the place but you could argue that that was the point of the film as well as the fact that that's also a problem with the original source material as both Jeffery and the original Dr. Frankenstein have this weird obsession with death and due to the fact that this film is meant to be a comedy and therefor giving him this rather outlandish plan is something that does work for a comedy but interms of the context of the film it's not something that works all that well and is something that should been worked on a bit more longer in the films script then what it was but as the makers of the film were far more interested in setting up the plot of the film rather then giving the character a good plan it is something that does make the characters plan feel more like an afterthought.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty four minuets and sixteen seconds. Which to be fair to this film is pretty much the exact running time that you'd expect a film like this one to have and again to be fair to this film this film does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place however tho as was to be expected from a film like this one this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot with the film being a slow burner when it really doesn't have the time to be that as the film spends around an hour just on Jeffery trying to get the right parts which would be fine if this film was nearer two hours but it's not and therefor that's something that should have been done by the thirty to forty minuet mark as that would have allowed the film to fully develop it's plot with this even effecting the films character development as well as the film doesn't take the time that it really should have done to fully develop it's characters and yet if the film did take the time to fully develop all of it's characters then the film would have round up being all the more better because of it and yet because of the fact that the film is clearly alot more focused on being a slow burner when it really doesn't have the time to be one it does mean that we are stuck with both a plot and characters that aren't as well developed as they really could have been with both of these issues being something that very easily could have been fixed if the film was ten or even twenty minuets longer but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the film having kills that are alot more better then what they really should have been given the fact that this film had a very small production budget but given the fact that Frankenhooker basically kills people with electricity it does mean that the films kills do end up being alot more better and more comical then what they really had any right to be and yet even with all of that mind in mind it's not Frankenhooker that has the best kill in the film rather it's Jeffery as when he's trying out the girls for the parts that he needs they all get into bag and find a drug that he's been preparing to give one of them due to the fact that it kills the user within minuets of taking it and yet because they all take it they all end up blowing up really creative ways all of which do yes look cheap but that's something that does add the humor of the scene as you can tell right away where the film replaces the actor getting blown up with dummy with that being something that makes the film more funny to watch and while the film does indeed put alot more focus on it's horror aspect then it does it's comedy aspect it's the fact that all of the films kills are ever the top and corny that helps to make them more funny then it does outright scary and that is something that does make the films kills stand out all the more in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall whilst this film isn't anywhere close to being good given the films title that is always something that was always going to be the case and to be fair this film is alot of fun to watch this is despite the fact that the film does have alot of flaws in it that prevent this film from being great in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used inn this very review well then boys and girls and well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally sued in this very review from Tenor , Amazon . Co . Uk , IMP Awards .

Weapons Film Review

2025 really was a good year for horror with there being quite alot of original horror films films coming out and while yes we did still get ...
