I Know What You Did Last Christmas Film Review

We are little over a week into the new year and we already have a bad horror movie with us with the thing that makes this movie standout. Being the fact that it's an obvious knock off of I Know What You Did Last Summer with the only difference being this move takes place at Christmas time and not in the summer time as that's just how obvious of a knock off that this film really is and so then join me as i review the film that is a knock off of I Know You Did Last Summer which in turn is a knock off of Scream with the film in question being called simply just "I Know What You Did Last Christmas" enjoy.

The plot of this film is one year after a group of friends pull a joke on a friend that results in her death they all find themselves being killed off of one by one and have to find out who the killer is before there next. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad with it being made painfully obvious what this films plot is knocking off and yet the makers of this film fail to realise that the there movie that there ripping off had a bad plot to begin with this films plot not even improving upon the plot of the I Know What You Did Last Summer rather it's coming across as being a more watered version of that films plot with the plot of the film being as bad as you'd think that it would be as it feels like that this films plot was written in about five minuets as there's no thought and effort put into the plot of the film as this films plot is at best weak as the film doesn't focus on it's central mystery something that both the original and the legacy sequel of I Know What You Did Last Summer knew to do as that was how they were going to get audiences into the movie in the first place and yet here with this film it felt like the makers of the film were instead just relying on people confusing this film for the film that it's obviously knocking off and that there for they chose not to give the films plot that much thought and effort with the plot of this film also not really being really rather entertaining and nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is this films casting director Lauren Staerck as Cassie , Mouseboat Massacre star Shayli Reagan as Amber , A Tailor-Made Romance star Connor Horrigan as Nico and Helen Elizabeth Baird as Jules. Also starring in this film is The Wizard of Oz: The Dead Walk star Alfie Manser as Sam , Julia Quayle as Lila , Dan Robins as Trey , Ashley Bedford as Dax , Katrina Todd as Erin and Leona Clarke as Millie.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty bad. With the fact that this films acting really bad being the kind of thing that you expect when you go into one of these films and to be fair to this film the acting in it isn't as bad as the acting in some of the other very cheaply made horror films out there as you can tell that this films actors are indeed trying to turn in a good performance but the issue is that there this films director isn't helping as it seems like this films director Gregory William Randolph Jr. has no idea how to get a good performance out of his actors with them all feeling lost and unsure of just what kind of performance to give with the films best actor being Lauren Staerck as Cassie just because of the fact that she comes across as the only person who knows that she's in a bad film and therefor just phoning in her performance all of the time which is something that does make her performance oddly enjoyable to watch as she clearly just doesn't care about turning a good performance in this film with the acting that's in this film not really being helped by the fact that the script for this film is just so bad as it gives nine of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

This film really doesn't fair all the more better when it comes to it's characters either as even tho this was the debut film for writer C.M. Wright you can tell that they had no idea on how to write good characters. As to be frank here all of this films characters are bland and boring characters that have nothing interesting about them and while fair enough this is this persons first ever feature film and so of course there not going to knock the characters out of the park on the first attempt but there still needs to be an actual attempt to make good characters as all of the characters in this film seem like the characters that you'd get in the first draft of a script and not the kind of characters you'd get in the films final draft with even the films final girl Cassie being a bland character that had the potential to be good if she was written well as the idea of someone dealing with PTSD about what happened the year before is a good idea but the film does nothing with it as it then has all of the films other characters dealing with PTSD this is a case where copying something from I Know What You Did Last Summer be it the original r the recent legacy sequel would have worked as this film is ripping off that film anyway so they might as well go all the way with it and rip off some of the characters as well and yet they don't do that when that is something that would have made the film alot more entertaining to watch in the first place with it being made clear as day that the makers of this film had no idea on how come up with good characters and while the writer of this film very well might improve in there later films if this film is anything to go by then they have a long way to go in creating good or even OK characters.

As you can all no doubt work out from the title of this film they are ripping off I Know What You Did Last Summer. Heck even the poster to this film is very similar to that of the Last Summer legacy sequel with this clearly being done in order to confuse and trick people into buying there terrible film and not the terrible I Know What You Did Last Sumer legacy film as there's nothing in this film that feels unique and fresh as they even rip off the twist ending from Scream 2022 by having it be reveled that there are actually two killers with one of them being a female who just like in Scream 2022 is also called Amber that right there is just lazy writing as now there ripping off two movies when they were barely getting away with ripping off the one movie and while granted the makers of this film more then likely didn't have the time to fix this in the script as it feels like this film was written in five minuets they could have come up with something that's unique to this film heck even the Harry Boxley films have at least one thing that's unique about them and he's made a career out of turning Disney characters into slasher villains and yet here it felt like that the makers of this film would just look at the title of the film and think that it was I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 and they therefor chose not to give the film alot of thought and effort when they should have gone out of there to make sure that there film was still a really good film and one that was actually better then the film that it's knocking off as this film makes I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 look like a masterpiece by comparison and should have come up with an original twist rather then just straight up copy the one used in Scream 2022.

Again to be frank it was pretty obvious that this film was going to be a bad film as the title right away gives that away. Yet even with that working against it the film does manage to pull off some impressive looking drone shots quite early on in the film which was something that was unexpected as it did have some small production value to the film with the film even having some nice looking practical effects in it as well and yet even so this film does feel like it's bein held back by it's budget and while fair enough a film like this one was never ever going to be expensive to make in the first place you can tell that this film was being made on the cheap as all of the characters have the one set of clothes and there's the one main location which to be fait the film does take full advantage off but at the same time it's not the best of locations as it's just the typical house in the middle of the woods and heck even one of the characters complains about not having any Wi-Fi whereas if the film did have a bigger budget then it would be able to get away with doing alot more as we could then get more dice looking drone shots of the house and we would be able to have extra's in the film which is something that would make the world that this films takes place in feel alot more populated but to the films credit they do do the best that they could have done with this film given that it would have had a really small budget and you do see where the money went as it's all there on screen it's just that this is a film that would have benefitted from having more money thrown at it as things like the third act feel anti-climatic due to the fact that you can tell they were just running out of money at that point and its things like that that do hinder the film and stop it from being as enjoyable as it really could have been.

Much like how the original I Know What You Did Last Summer and the original Scream films had a mystery to them. This film also has a mystery to it and just like the rest of the film it's done pretty badly as we don't get to see the actual prank that caused the character Millie to die in the first place with even all of the characters being so unlikable that realistically any of the characters could have been the main killers of the film and it would totally make sense were as with the original Scream film they at least went out of there to make sure that the characters that your meant to like were actually likable people that you wanted to see more of and yet here in this film they don't do any of that with them not even giving us a good mystery as the film doesn't give us any clues as to who the killers are meant to be in the first place which does mean that when they do reveal who the killers are they have to go out of there way to explain why there the killer in the first place which at that point is far to little to late when that is something that could have been done earlier on in the film as that not only would have made the characters more likable but it also would have given us the audience a clue as to who the killers of the film are meant to be in the first place and yet because of the fact that this films characters are so unlikable that it really could have been anyone of them that were committing these crimes with even Cassie who is meant to be the films final girl being made out to be this unlikable person and yet if the makers of this film did give u a reason to actually care for this films characters and actually gave us clues to work out who the killer is in the first place then it would have made the film all the more better and it would have added replay value to the film as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and ten minuets and fifty seconds. Which to be fair is pretty much the exact grand total running time that you'd expect a film like this one to have with the film having just about the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place and yet this film really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop it's plot and granted it really couldn't do that with that short amount of running time but there are direct to DVD DC animated films that have similar running times and that have more developed plots then this one with this film being more focused of ripping of both Scream 2022 and I Know What You Did Last Summer 2025 then it is in giving us a well developed plot with this film not even taking the time to fully develop any of it's characters either with them all being very one dimensional characters with the film not caring to give it's characters the time that they need to be that well developed as characters when this is a film that really should have taken the time to fully develop it's characters given the fact that this is a mystery film and therefor the characters really did need to be more developed in order for the mystery aspect of the film to be more effective and yet for one reason or another the makers of this film instead chose to not give us fully developed characters and instead just chose to rip off two slasher movies which is something that will only get so fat and yet if this film did take the time that it really did need to do to fully develop both it's plot and it's characters then this film would be alot more better then what it already is but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in his very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With it being made clear as day that the makers of this film put alot more thought and effort into this films kills then they did anything else as it's during this films kills that we get to see where alot of the budget went to as we do get to see alot of really good looking practical effects which even tho this film had a really small budget and despite that the effects in the films kills look as good as they were going to with the best kill in the whole entire film being in the films third act when we get see Cassie go nuts on both this films kills with Amber getting knifed in the side before then getting a pair of scissors in the eye and the first killer getting stabbed with a snooker cue which to the films credit is a really creative kill and is something that does look good in this film with the film kills making painfully clear that the makers of this film knew how to give us good kills but had no idea on how to give us a good film to go with those kills as the kills in the film really are the best part of the film even tho having the killer being dressed up as Father Christmas is one that's bit over played at this point in the time with the rest of the films kills being being just as fun and just creative as they were ever going to be given the fact that this film had a really small budget to begin with in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it really doesn't need to be said but this film is just as bad as you'd think that it would be as while there is a decent film in here it's more bothered with being a knock off of film to a film that was already a knock off of Scream 1996 then it is in being a good film in it's own right in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
