Mickey's Slayhouse Film Review

For some odd reason both Popeye and Mickey Mouse are really popular characters to turn into horror villains. With there being yet another horror film where Mickey Mouse is the main villain with the only difference being unlike alot of the rest of them this one is American and actually calls the villain Mickey Mouse and that's it and so then join me as I review the film that also goes by the even less inspired name Murder Mouse with the film in question being called simply just "Mickey's Slayhouse" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a bunch of teens go to an abandoned theme park where they try to survive being attacked by someone dressed as Mickey Mouse and his cult. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty bad. If this plot sounds at all similar to any of you that have seen these Mickey Mouse horror movies it's because it's quite literally the exact same plot and set up as Mouse Of Horrors and it didn't work back in that film and it doesn't work here in this film either. Due to the fact that here it's so obvious that there just copying what that film did with out adding anything new to it and therefor it just makes it seem lazy heck if your going to have your version of Mickey Mouse be in theme park then why not make the theme park an obvious knock of of Disney Land and just have fun with it an yet the film doesn't do that it doesn't have any kind of fun with who the villain is an therefor the plot of the film can't be that good as while this film was always going to have a bad plot to it there's no way around that what could have been done was to make the plot so bad that you end up really laughing at it and end up having fun with the plot and yet due to the fact that everything is played super straight in this film that can't happen with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining an nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Kaitlyn Jackson as Lucy , Matthew Perl as Christian , Rebi Jordan as Bianca and Levi Peterson as Chad. Also starring in this film is Michael Ronan as Psycho Bob , Brooklyn Eve as Isabella , Jayd Swendseid as Carter , James Hawthorn as Jack , Lemuel Teferra as Marcos , Jazlyn Nicolette Sward as Suzee , Adam Abdsameia as Johnny , Anna Keene as Olivia , David Listmann as Young Mickey , Andrew Mena as Nate , Annika Ross as Sierra , Amanda Torquato as Princess and Dan Gaul as Mickey Mouse.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With these types of horror films you do usually know that some things will be bad and sadly one of those things is the acting and this is something that does allow you to go in with small expectations and thank god this is the case as the acting in this film isn't all that bad but it's also not all that good either as for every good performance we get in the film we get two or three bad ones with it being clear that this films co-writer , co-producer and director Kjell Dokkvarr doesn't know how to get a good performance and heck he must agree that the film isn't that good as n the films own credits he's listed as RK Gore and is listed as being a co-writer of the film. With the best actor in the whole entire being Rebi Jordan as Bianca as she even tho her character is just the stereotypical rich kid character she plays that kind of snobbish kid so well with her doing a really good job of making you hate her characters guts ad while yes she does have one or two scenes that aren't that well acted this is something that could be true for any film and given the fact that they most likely really didn't have the time to do a take to it's a wonder that her performance turned out as well as it did with her own natural charm really shining through in this film. With the acting that's in this film not really being heled by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely anything to work with interms of what it is that there actual characters personalities re even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does harm the overall quality f the acting that's in this very film.

In a move that is also to be expected in a film like this none of the films characters are all that interesting. With them all being very one dimensional characters at best wit Lucy being the typical god girl who never does anything wrong , Christian is the typical good guy who Lucy has the hots for , Bianca is just a rich girl and Chad is just there that's how bare bones these characters are when the makers of this film could have gone out of there way to add literally anything to them that makes them interesting and yet they don't rather they keep them all being very one note characters and that doesn't make for interesting characters rather it makes all of the characters dull even Lucy's dad is a dull character as he comes across as being the typical worried dad who gets worried that his daughter is in danger because he hasn't picked the phone to him ONE time. Look you do have to expect badly written characters in horror films like this as the main focus of the film and the making of the film is never going to be on the characters that you want to see make it to the end rather it's going to always be on the fact that in this case Mickey Mouse is the villain but with there being more of these films then there are actual Mickey Mouse movies at this point the makers of these films have to do something to make there film stand out from the rest and what better way to do that then to have a decent script that has well written characters in it as this is something that will always make people come back to your film and make them remember your film alot more fondly and yet due to the fact that none of them do that they all end up with badly written with the only one to have decently written characters being Screamboat, with the makers of this film clearly not caring about putting in the effort to make well written characters and instead care about letting us know this film has Mickey Mouse as the main villain which if this was the first one of these Mickey Muse films then that would be understandable but it's not and therefor effort does need to be put into making the characters be as good as they possibly could be.

Whilst this film is nowhere near as bad as The Mouse Trap was as there is still some entertainment and effort to be found in this film The Mouse Trap is still the more memorable of the two films. Due to the fact that that film is so bad that it's good with us being able to laugh more at the film then with it whereas here with this film it's just bad as while you can't tell that this film was made cheaply as the makers of this film do there best to make it look like an expensive film which is to be commended but there still that air of cheapness all through the film with a good example of this being the costume that they use for Mickey Mouse as while it's not as cheap looking as the one used for The Mouse Trap where it was literally just a man in Mickey Mouse mask and a hockey shirt. Here in this film the costume looks like something that you'd find made by a fan of the character online and the head of the costume looks two big and misshapen which given the fact that in the world of this film this costume is meant to be a mascot costume is something that does make sense but also in the world of the film the costume should look better due to the fact that it is a mascot costume for this theme park and yet the whole thing just looks cheap when it really shouldn't be as this is something that we do spend a good chunk of the film looking at and yet the whole costume to looks like something that you'd expect to see in a badly done Mickey Mouse parody and heck there's nothing even scary with the costume which makes it look like the makers of this film just went with the costume because of the fact that it looks the most like Mickey Mouse and they can therefor put it on the films poster to trick poor people into buying there film.

Not really helping things is the films terrible sound quality as alot of the time hits that should sound like they hurt instead at best sound like someone is being lightly slapped on the face. With even Lucy during her first scene at high school sounding like her part of the conversation was re-recorded in a poorly done up room and it does get to the point where it is distracting as you spend half of the time wondering why the sound quality is so bad the other half trying to think of where the sound was recorded as it does make the film look cheap wit alot of cheap horror films like this one do at the very least take the time to make sure the sound sounds good whereas here it comes across as people just cared more about making money quickly then they did about making sure the sound was good. This is something that does come into play with the films music as well as alot of the time you genuinely can't hear it in scenes where adding in spooky music would help with the atmosphere and yet you can hear quite clearly and very loudly over scenes with the characters arriving to the park this is something that wouldn't be a bad thing if the music was just meant to be something that was played over the radio but it's not as we hear it barely several other times all throughout the film but to just to go back to the sound a second there should have been alot more love put int making the films sound be as could as it could be as we do afterall need to hear what's going on and when that's only happening a little over more then half of the time then there's a big issue here. with the same thing being true for the films music as adding in scary music when we are with Mickey or when anyone of his cult members kills someone would help to make the film more scarier as the music is just as important to a horror film then anything else is.

Speaking of the cult they were perhaps the best of the film due to the fact that the very idea of Mickey Mouse having a cult is something that could work in a film like this one. Yet the film oddly enough doesn't spend alot of the time with them as we really only see them towards the end of the film when they start killing Lucy and her friends and her dad when something this cool and this original ks something that should have been built up a little bit more like maybe we see the someone for the neck down kill someone and the rest of the kids think that it's just Mickey only for it to be revealed that he's the head of a cult and that they worship him as that would be alot more fun to see other then he gives them these drugs that make you crazy which is the excuse that the film goes with. Heck that would have even been a good way to get a Minnie Mouse character in the film and have her be Mickie's main lover interest and yet they don't do that with the whole idea of Mickie being the head of this cult not really playing into the film which makes it feel pointless as the teens that kill Lucy's friends could just be psycho kids and nothing would need to changed about who those kids are and why there dressed the way that they are or acting they way that they are and yet the makers of this film chose to make them a cult and yet they don't do anything new with that idea they basically forget all about it not long after they introduce that concept and while we do get to see members of the cult get to be creative with there kills and see that they have managed to infiltrate the high school to sell there drug we don't get to see anything fun be done with that idea.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty two minuets and five seconds. Which whilst that is pretty much the exact running time that you'd expect a film like this one to have it's also a film that really didn't need to be as along as it is as you very easily could have gotten this film down to one hour hour and fifteen minuets just by cutting out alot of the filler scenes with the side characters like the sales clerk and Lucy's dad for example and yet for one reason or another the scenes with Lucy's dad were deemed important enough to keep into the film this is despite the fact that all of his scenes add exactly nothing to the plot of the film with this film having just about the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time in the first place. Yet despite this in a movie that was to be expected this film doesn't use its running time all that wisely as the film doesn't take the time to fully develop its plot as the film has alot of filler scenes in it that eat up screen time that would have been better used giving the film scenes that do further develop its plot with the makers of this film putting more thought and effort into making sure that we know Mickey Mouse is the main villain of the film then they did into giving the film some plot development. The same thing is also true for the films character development as we get to find nothing about any of the films characters we don't get to find out why Lucy's dad is this protective of her we don't get to find out anything about Lucy as a character and heck we barely get to find why the films main villain is killing people in the first place with the makers of this film being more focused on giving us obviously CGI fire then they were in giving us character development but I really will admit that this film really foes have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very was in all honesty really good. The films kills are by far the best part of the film as you can tell that's where the makers of this film were putting alot of there care into them and into making them be as fun and as creative as they can do and while yes a few of them do happen off screen which is something that will always be a bad thing the few that happen on screen look really good and show of the films pretty decent make up effects. With the best kill in the whole film being the death of Chad as we see get seduced by this female cult member with her leading in him into a room where they can be alone and when she does get on top she pulls out a knife and goes to town stabbing him and while we don't get to the knife entertaining him alot of the time we really don't need to as we can work what's going on based off what we're seeing happen on screen and while we don't get any good make up effects in that scene we do get a good idea of idea of just how crazy that this cult really is and that is something that is important to the films plot as it makes them look like just as big of a threat then what Mickie Mouse himself is and while it would have been nice if we got to see Mickie do that kill as we barely get to see him kill anyone in this film the kill itself worked abut as well as it was ever going to do with the films kills being just as good as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall it really doesn't matter if you call this film Murder Mouse or Mickey's Slayhouse the film itself is still really bad and while it's not as bad as The Mouse Trap was it's also not as good as the awful Mouse Of Horrors was either as this film is just nothing film that will be forgotten about five minuets after you've watched it as there's nothing memorable about this film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked abut all of the good and a swell as all of the bad things that are in this very film kin this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 3.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , Amazon . Co . Uk and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
