The Craft: Legacy Review

Horror fans we so used to seeing sequels to our favorite horror films however we are used to seeing the next installment to any horror franchise come out withing a few years of the previous installment. The film i'm going to review today bucks that trend by a long while since the original film came out in 1996 which means the film i'm reviewing today has come twenty four years later and so join me horror fans as I review "The Craft: Legacy" enjoy.

Now here I would normally summarize the plot of the film is well as give you my opinion on the story as a whole. That right there is the film's first and one of it's biggest issues because of the fact there's no story that means that we audience cannot connect to the story because the film isn't giving us a reason to connect to them which for any film is bad and for me that's a huge red flag and trust me it only gets worse from here.

Starring in the film is Cailee Spaeny as Lilith "Lily" ????? , Gideon Adlon as Frankie and Lovie Simone as Tabby. Also starring in the film is Zoey Luna as Lourdes , Michelle Monaghan as Helen , David Duchovny as Adam , Nicholas Galitzine as Timmy Andrews , Julian Grey as Abe , Donald MacLean Jr. as Isaiah , Hannah Gordon as Ashley , Chris Tomassetti as Jeremy and Charles Vandervaart as Jacob.

Wow is the acting in this film bad and when I say the acting in this film is bad I really freaking mean it since I cannot think of one single actor who turned in a solid performance. I can however think of one actor who is clearly doesn't give a damn and is just having the time of her life and that's Gideon Adlon as Frankie who gives a really over the top performance in every scene her character is in which to me makes her performance the most enjoyable because everyone else is just bland and wooden at there absolute best.

This film is so freaking woke it's unreal because not only are all the male characters in this film evil they even have a male character only turn good after he starts acting like your stereotypical woke person and since all the male characters in this film are treated as evil a lot of the female characters are portrayed as good. Honestly this really freaking annoyed the hell of me because it felt like they made being woke more important then making an actual good film with interesting characters and all of this was done to please a group of people who are never happy and s it's pointless to try and please them in the first place.

Now i'm not going to spoil anything from this terrible sequel but I will say that this film does feature a character from the 1996 original film. The character that appears was at first according to the Wikipedia page for The Craft: Legacy was due to be via archive footage which I can confirm isn't the case the character in question appears in newly filmed footage near the end of the film and he or she only appears in one scene.

Which trust me is a great thing because there's nothing in this film that would suggest that it's a sequel to a nearly twenty five year old film. However I will admit that the plot line leading up this characters reveal was really badly done since it was something that was never mentioned or even hinted at during the entire film infact this plot line which could have lasted an entire film only gets started in the film's third act and is over just as quickly as it begins and so to me it's clear as hell that they really wanted a character from the first film to appear but they already had the script written and thus didn't want to change that much of it and so they just added this plot line at the last minuet just so they could get one character from the original film in this film.

This film is one hour and thirty four minuets long which makes the film around five minuets shorter then the original. Which for me is a good thing because like I said this film has to plot to speak whatsoever and because of the fact that this film has no plot to speak of whatsoever the film oddly feels alot longer then it is and so I have to wonder why did the film need to be this long when it could and I honestly think should have been under an hour and twenty minuets because there's nothing in this film that requires a running time of nearly and hour and thirty five minuets.

I want it known that i've never seen the first The Craft film and the only bit of footage i've seen from that first film is from The Cinema Snob's latest review which is a review of the film. As such I cannot say how good the music is in that film but in this film may god do they have some cheesy as hell music playing over scenes in this film which honestly made me laugh because the music is so bad you can't help but laugh which ruins every bit of tension that the film tries to create.

This is classed as supernatural thriller and while it does indeed earn it's supernatural label it doesn't earn it's thriller name. Since there is nothing thrilling in this film whatsoever infact the film is more focused on being like bad show on The CW that it forgets to include actually good scares instead all we get are jump scares which is fine for one scare but when that's every single scare it starts to get boring after awhile.

Overall incase I haven't made it very clear yet I hate this film so freaking much that it's unreal it's a pointless sequel and it's film that didn't need to be made. Yes there are are a few good things in the film all of which i've sadly mentioned in this review but there are a lot more bad things alot of which i've covered in this review and i'm sure that you guys will find even more issues with the film then I did as such this film gets a 2.5 out of 10 from me.

All of the images that I used for this review were gathered from either Google Images of the official The Craft fandom wiki page. Just because this website had more images from the film I have no choice but to recommend that you use Google Images if you want images from this film just because like I said Google Images have more of verity of images from the film and lot of those images are high quality which is something that I look for when i'm making a review and as always we end this review with our one true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very , very unpleasant dreams.

Addams Family Values Review

Ladies and gents it's been well over a year since I review the 1991 film adaptation of The Addams Family which was also called The Addams Family. As such I feel that it's about time that I take a look at it's 1993 which is honestly something that i've both been planning and putting of doing for some time now however since it's halloween I feel that it's about right that I take a look at a film featuring the creepy family and so here is my review of "Addams Family Values" enjoy the review everyone and on with the review.

The plot of the movie is serial killer infiltrates The Addams Family and plans to steal a fortune by marrying Uncle Fester meanwhile Wednesday and Pugsley are sent to the worst place imaginable summer camp. I honestly feel that the plot of the first film is alot better then the plot of this film just because in this film the story doesn't work nor make sense since any member of The Addams Family would love to get married to a serial killer and the story is very weak at best in my own very humble opinion that is.

Starring in the film is Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams , Raul Julia as Gomez Addams and Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester. Also starring in the film is Christina Ricci as Wednesday Addams , Christopher Hart as Thing , Carel Struycken as Lurch , Jimmy Workman as Pugsley Addams , Carol Kane as Grandmama Addams , Joan Cusack as Debbie Jellinsky , Mercedes McNab as Amanda Buckman , David Krumholtz as Joel Glicker , Peter MacNicol as Gary Granger and Christine Baranski as Becky Martin-Granger.

The acting in this film was honestly really good with all of the returning actors ( I couldn't be bothered listing who was returning and who wasn't just incase your wondering why I didn't mention the returning actors when listing who is in this film) turning in solid performances. Hell even the new cast members do a really good job but what lets the new actors down is thew fact that the script gives them nothing to work with which isn't an issue for the returning actors because both we the audience and the actors in question know what there characters are like and what there personalities are but the same cannot be said for the new characters since the script gives those character no personality whatsoever which means the actors do that good of a job and at best can only deliver an ok performance.

There's something really bugged me about this film and it's the fact that the plot line involving Uncle Fester (Played By Back To The Future Star Christopher Lloyd) is almost the exact same plot featuring the exact same character from the first film. Hell the film even copies scenes from the first film which to me makes no sense whatsoever since with a franchise like The Addams Family you can literally do anything you wanted and it would somehow make sense and yet you repeat a plot line and several scenes from much better first movie where's the logic in doing that.

Now there was going to be a third film in this Paramount Pictures live action Addams Family film franchise however due t0o the death of Gomez Addams actor Raul Julia the film was cancelled. I honestly think that it's a shame that we didn't get more films in the Paramount Pictures produced Addams Family live action film series just because these actors and these versions of the characters are so engraved in my head that whenever I picture these characters i'm seeing the actors from either this film or the first film and the same even goes for The Addams Family mansion since it's such a cool looking mansion.

Now this is something that I wondered last year and i'm still confused as to how they brought The Thing to life in either of these two movies. Since it could be CGI but given that these films were made in the very early nineties I doubt that's how they brought the thing to life and so the only thing that I could think if is that they rotoscoped the actor who played The Thing out of each shot except of course for his hand but that would have been very time consuming even back then and so I really have no idea how they brought The Thing to life in either of these two Paramount Pictures released Addams Family films.

Now then since this is an Addams family adaptation that does mean there are some spooky things in this film. With perhaps the spookiest thing and also oddly the funniest thing in the movie is the fact that the film makers have a scene were Wednesday smiles and you just know that when she does that she's thinking how she's going to get revenger on each and every person who bullied her at that camp since yeah both she , Pugsley and all the other outcast kids kind of get bullied at this summer camp.

This film is an hour and thirty four minuets long which in my opinion is a little bit on the long side for a film that has a very weak plot. If anything this film should have been well under an hour and a half including both the opening and ending credits. As a result of this running time and weak plot the film does feel alot longer then it's one hour and thirty four minuet running time which is a shame because there is a decent film to be found here the just needed a better plot to let that good film out but there's not a good plot in this film so there you go.

Now then boys and girls since this is a comedy that does mean that we have to talk about the jokes that are in this film. Which I honestly feel are this film's biggest selling point because my god is this film funny almost every single joke told in this film landed for me and had me laughing I honestly cannot thing of a single bad joke in this film and it helps that alot of the film's funniest lines were given to the character of Wednesday Addams (Christina Ricci who was born to play the role of Wednesday Addams in these Paramount Pictures live action film adaptations of The Addams Family) who's dark and sadistic humour just works really well.

Overall while I cannot say that this film is better then the 1991 film version of The Addams Family I think that we can all agree it's much better then Addams Family Reunion. Yes this film does have it's problems all of which i've covered in this review those issues to me were apart of the film's charm as such this film gets a 6 out of 10 from me. As for where I got the images that I used in this review I got Them from either the official The Addams Family fandom wiki page or Google Images and I honestly have no clue which one is better to use since there both the same in terms of image quality.

Nocturne 2020 Film Revew

Horror fans i've seen alot of horror over the years and I will most certainly watch a ton more even before the end of the year. Even with alot of films either being pushed back into next year or heading straight to verious different streaming services there are still some horror films out and as luck would have a few new films from the Welcome To The Blumhouse series in Amazon Prime have been released and so here is my review of film four in the Welcome To The Blumhouse series called "Nocturne" so enjoy the review eveeryone.

Now here I would normally tell you what the plot of the movie is well as give you my opinion on the plot of the film. However for some strange reason the makers behind this film chose not to have plot which is movie making 101 you need to tell a story and when you don't do that your whole film falls apart because the auidence won't be able to connect to the characters nor will the audience be engaged because your not giving them a reason to be engaged in your film.

Starring in the film is Sydney Sweeney as Juliet , Madison Iseman as Vivian and Jacques Colimon as Max. Also starring in the film is Ivan Shaw as Vivian’s instructor , Julie Benz as Cassie , Brandon Keener as David , JoNell Kennedy as The Music Department Head , Asia Jackson as Abigail , John Rothman as Roger , Stephon Fuller as Joshua , A.J. Tannen as Mike , Rodney To as Wilkins and Ivan Shaw as an unknown character.

I'm not joking with the Ivan Shaw credit I have no idea who he is or who he's even playing in this film and IMDB is no help whatsoever since that only has his name and not the name of his character in the movie. As for what I thought about the acting in the film it was pretty decent all of the actors do a solid job but at the same time the script gives these actors nothing to work as such the actors are kind of lost since they can only do so much with the script and the film's wirter / director Zu Quirke has never written or even directed a feature film before now so the cast have no chance of turning in a great performance.

This is I believe the last of the first four films in the Welcome To The Blumhouse series but I do believe that they have another four films. When those other four films are released or even what they are at this point remians to be seen but i'm honestly all for Welcome To The Blumhouse continuing since it gives fresf faces a platform to show what they can do and having new names in the realm of horror is always a good thing.

That being said the director / writer of this film is the very definition of  new face in horror since as far as I can tell Zu Quirke who is this films director and writer have never made a horror film before now. Hell as I said this is the first feature film that Zu Quirke has made having previously only made short films which is this film biggest mistake because the whole thing just reeks of inexperince and while I won't be knocking points of the film for that it is something that Blumhouse and Amazon should be weary of in the future since it could  put people of watching future film in the Welcome To The Blumhouse series.

I'm going to be freaking brutal here this film is boring as hell and part of what makes the film boring is the fact that nothing happens for large portions of the film. Again this is film makeing 101 no matter how bad your film is your audience needs to be entertained in some way and when you add in the fact that there is no plot to this film if your like me then you'll find yourself checking to see how long is left or browsing the internet.

Not helping with the boredom (and this is something that could have been fixed with a few rewrites of the script) is the fact that the characters are just uninteresting. Try as I might I cannot think of a single interesting character in this film and that's because all of the characters are written the exact same and all have no personality to them and so all of the characters come across as very one dimensional which doesn't make them interesting it makes them bad and boring characters.

One of the semi interesting things about the film is the realtionship between sisters Juliet (Sydney Sweeney) and Vivian (Madison Iseman) with one being a highly talented musician who is highly popular and the other still being a highly talented musician but is also willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top. In a much better film this relationship would have been the centre piece of the film and delved into much deeper but it's not in a better film it's in this film and the releationship between the two sisters is barely mentioned or even touched upon until the final act by which time it's to little to freaking late.

This film is a mericifly short hour and a half long but even so the film feels like it's on for a lot freaking longer. If ahything this film should have been well under an hour long hell it should have been at least thrity minuets long at the most but nope they have to drag it out to feature length which means all of the issues that I had with the film are now major issues since if it was thirty minuets long they would have been very minor issues at best.

Now then boys and girls since this is a horror film that does mean that we have to talk about the scares that are in the film. There really aren't that many scares but to this films credit it's focus isn't on trying to scare you it's it's supernaturel angle which even tho it's not really explained either very well or at all it does mean that we do get some pretty creepy imagery take for example the above picture which is honestly the coolest image in the whole film if you ask but I do feel that the film makers could have spent more time on developing it's supernaturel angle instead of leaving it all unexplained but that's just what I think.

Overall incase you cannot tell I really didn't like this film at all for all the reasons that i've listed in this review and then some. However I do feel that this is a case of the director / writer just simply either not knowing that they were doing or just biting of more then they can chew since this was Zu Quirke's first feature film as such alot of the issues that I had with the film can simply be forgiven but this film is still pretty bad and boring in my opinion as such this film gets a 2.5 out of 10 from me.

All of the images that I used in this review were gathered from Google Images and rather shocking I went nowhere else for the images that I used in this review. Since I only went to Google Images for the images that I used in this review I kind of have no choice but to recommend that you use Google Images for images from this film and as always boys and girls we end this review as we always do boys and girls with our one true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very , very unpleasant dreams.

Book Of Bloods 2020 Film Review

Horror fans there are so few new horror films that in order to get my new horror film fix I have to watch films that I normally wouldn't watch. The film that i'm reviewing today is one of those since while I do like anthology films there not really something that I look forward to watching however since there are barely any new films let alone horror films coming out I have to watch one and so here is my review of the 2020 film version of "Books Of Blood" enjoy.

Since this is an anthology film there is no one story hell there's not even much of a framing story there's just three random stories all of which aren't connected by any theme. Which is perhaps it's biggest issue since there's nothing connecting these stories and so all three fee disconnected from each other which is a shame because there are some truly good stories in this film with the first story which I believe is called "Miles" being such a good story that it could very easily make a really good and a really creepy feature film.

Starring in the film is Britt Robertson as Jenna , Freda Foh Shen as Ellie , Nicholas Campbell as Sam and Anna Friel as Mary . Also starring in the film is Rafi Gavron as Simon , Yul Vazquez as Bennett , Andy McQueen as Steve , Kenji Fitzgerald as Gavin , Paige Turco as Nicole , Saad Siddiqui as Dan , Glenn Lefchak as Balsam , Brett Rickaby as The Bookman , Matt Bois as Peter , Etienne Kellici as Miles , Cory Lee as Chelsea , Greg Fong as Kun and Sean Skerry as Lasky.

I will fully admit I had slightly high expectations when it came to the acting in this film just because i'm a fan of some of these actors and actresses and I know that they can be really great when they want to be. However this really isn't a good example of how good these actors and actresses can be since none of the scipts for any of the stories give these actors anything to work with and so they can only do so much which in this case results in performances that are at best ok and nothing more.

For some reason they chose to use CGI in the first story and yeah it really does standout by a huge mile because it's so obvious and it just looks fake as hell. I'm not kidding when I say that when I saw the CGI in that first story instead of being scared I laughed because it was that bad it was honestly laughable FuseFX who did the CGI fir the first story and i'm guessing the rest of the film didn't do that good of a job at all in my opinion and whoever gave the ok to these effects needs to be let go because there not good or even passable XGI there just bad flat out bad.

The original idea for this adaptation of the Clive Barker book of the same name was to make it an anthology series. Which given how disconnected these stories are making turning it into an anthology TV series would have worked alot better in my opinion since then you don't have to connect the stories together by anything be it theme or characters you can just jump right into the story but by making it as an anthology film you now do have to find ways to connect all of the stories which as i've said before is something that this film doesn't do at all.

Now I did my research and this is actually the second time that one of these stories has been adapted since the story featuring the Simon and Mary characters was adapted into the 2009 film called Book Of Blood. As far as I can tell this version and the 2009 film version share not alot in common with each other but I cannot say if that's true f9or the book version of the story and any of the two adaptations of the story tho.

As i'm sure alot of you know this is based on the Clive Barker book of the same name and even tho i've not seen any of the films based on his works or read any of his works even I can tell that there's something missing. I can't quite put my finger on it but there's clearly something missing in the writing since Clive Barker is known for creating these truly scary stories and while I will get into the scares soon enough to me this feels like the team behind the film, who i'm sure had great intentions didn't truly understand what Barker was going for when he wrote any of these stories or at least that's my opinion anyways.

What for me is a really bad thing is the fact that the film is nearly two hours long with a running time of an hour and forty seven minuets. This to me makes the film feel very boring since some of the stories aren't that entertaining and by some I mean the second story where there's just nothing that much happening as such if they had to make this as a feature film then it shouldn't have been no longer then an hour and fifteen minuets in my opinion.

Now then boys and girls since this is a horror film that does mean that we have to talk about the scares that are in the film itself. Which depending on the story are either one of the best things about the story or one of the worst things since the scares in the first story work really well where as the scares in the second and third / last story don't work as well which isn't a good thing since you come to a horror film to get scared even more so when your watching a horror anthology and when two of the three stories don't scare you then there's something clearly wrong with those stories and how there being presented in this film.

Overall while this film is indeed pretty creepy in it's first story where it starts to fall apart for me is in the second and third / last story. I've listed reasons as to why this is the case for me in this review but it's a pretty big issue for an anthology film since each story needs to be strong and hold up on it's own and when that's not the case for the majority of the film's stories then you clearly have an issue that needs solving in my opinion as for the overall film it gets a score of a 5.5 out of 10 from me.

All of the images that I used in this review were gathered from either Wikipedia or the god of all images (that's a joke by the way) Google Images. Since the overall majority of the images that I used in this review came from Google Images I have no choice but to recommend that you use Google Images if you want images from this film simply because while the images there aren't always high quality / high definition there's a more of a verity of them but that being said the poser which I got from Wikipedia was shockingly high quality which was something that I wasn't expecting from Wikipedia if i'm being honest since alot of the posters on there aren't high quality at all. As always boys and girls we end this review as we always do with our true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very unpleasant dreams.

Black Box 2020 Film Review

Horror fans it's been roughly a month since I last reviewed a new horror movie and well thank god Amazon has just started releasing a new series where every episode is a new horror movie because there are very little to no new films horror or otherwise coming out for the foreseeable future. I honestly have no idea what to think about this film since before me even writing this review I hadn't seen or even heard of the film that i'm about to review and so here is my review of the 2020 film called "Black Box" enjoy the review everyone.

The plot of the film six months after just surviving a car crash that killed his wife Nolan still suffers from memory lose and so he goes to see a specialist that puts him in a special program to help regain his memories but over the course of his treatment he'll find out something truly shocking. I honestly feel that the story of the film while it is pretty hard to figure what the actual plot is the story is fairly decent and is honestly really creative in my opinion.

Starring in the film is Mamoudou Athie as Nolan , Phylicia Rashad as Lilian and Amanda Christine as Ana. Also starring in the film is Tosin Morohunfola as Gary , Troy James as Backwards Man , Charmaine Bingwa as Miranda and Donald Watkins as Thomas. I have no idea if this is a complete cast list or not but this is the closest cast list that I could actually find and so I hope that it's the complete cast list.

The acting in this film I honestly feel is alot better then it really had any right to be since if any actor read what the concept for this film was then alot of the actors would be giving over the top performances. However here the actors are going the opposite route and are instead giving really solid performances that honestly not only work fr there character and it also helps that the child actress isn't annoying as all hell.

Now this movie premiered on Amazon in a really cool way because it premiered as the second episode of the new series Welcome To The Blumhouse. Which is a series made up of four feature films all of which are produced by Blumhouse Pictures and the series itself airs on Amazon Prime Video this to me is a great way to get these little known films out there since nobody would give alot of the films there releasing this way attention because there's nothing recognisable about this films and there's no big name attached to them.

Sadly these films aren't being released weekly I think there's releasing them every few weeks but it means that we are getting new content which right now is a good thing. I will admit that they could have done something with the concept behind the series like maybe they could have had a host for the series just something that would make the series a little bit more entertaining and as well as give us another reason to check the series out.

To me the film seemed rather slow paced and kind of boring which for any film is never a good thing since you want your audience to be entertained. Part of what makes the film boring to me is it's slow burning plot since the story is paper thin at best and so having a slow burning plot where for large portions of the film nothing is happening makes the film boring and because of that the pacing feels slow because there's nothing happening.

Another issue with the film which also ties back into what I was just saying about the film is the fact that's an hour and forty minuets long. This to me is a huge mistake because like I just said there's nothing happening for large portions of the film and the story is thin at best as such I honestly feel that this film should have been an hour long and even that's pushing it making the film an hour and forty minuets just means that the audience is going to sit there bored for a long time since they are waiting for anything of interest to happen.

This is the directorial debut for Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr. who also co-wrote the film's screenplay with Stephen Herman. I honestly feel that there script needed tweaking because the idea is solid hell you can get a decent film out of the idea but where the film comes apart is with the script because there's alot of padding like the film makers are trying to get the film up to or in this case beyond a feature length running time.

Now then boys and girls since this is a horror film that does mean that we have to talk about the scares that are in the film. To me the scariest thing about this film is the idea because the idea for the film is truly creepy and that to me makes up for the fact that there aren't alot of actual scares but the actual scares in the film are pretty creepy and are only the most entertaining things in the entire film in my honest opinion.

Overall this film could be entertaining in parts but for me at least the overall majority of the film was pretty boring to watch. There are some good things that in this film but you have to get through alot of the bad stuff just to get a glimmer of how good this film could be and while I do feel that Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour Jr. has a future as a director regardless of the genre he also has alot of room to grow as both a writer and director as such this film gets a 4.5 out of 10 from this horror fan.

All of the images that I used in this review were gathered from either Wikipedia or Google Images and for once it really doesn't matter where you get images from the film from. I say that because even tho Wikipedia does have a high quality version of the film's poster which i've used in this review by the way that's the only image from the film that it has and Google Images has so little images from the film and the ones that it does have range from really high quality to medium quality at best but as always boys and girls we end this review as we always do with our true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very unpleasant dreams.

My First Impressions Of The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Fans of The Walking Dead TV series or comic book as you might recall a few days ago I took a look at the debut episodes to both Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead TV series. Well what you might not have known is that I was doing it for a reason and that's because I was planning on covering the debut episode of the new walking dead spin off TV series The Walking Dead: World Beyond and while I was very much planning on covering this early Monday morning like the main show this episode has been released early and so here are my first impressions of The Walking Dead: World Beyond enjoy everyone.

The plot of this episode which for those that don't know is called brave is sisters Iris and Hope Bennett find there world turned upside down when they find out that there scientist father might be danger and so the sisters and some allies are forced to step foot into the zombie filled world for the first time in there lives. In my opinion the plot for the episode is it's weakest aspect just because not only does it take a while for it to really get going but when it does get going the plot is so thin that it might as well not even be there.

Starring in this episode and thus the rest of the series is Aliyah Royale as Iris Bennett and Alexa Mansour as Hope Bennett. Also starring in this episode and thus the rest of the series is Hal Cumpston as Silas Plaskett , Nicolas Cantu as Elton Ortiz , Nico Tortorella as Felix Carlucci , Annet Mahendru as Huck , Julia Ormond as Elizabeth Kublek , Joe Holt as Leopold Bennett , Beth Leavel as Dr. K and Christina Marie Karis as Kari Bennett.

The acting is one of the episodes strongest aspects in my opinion which really isn't saying that much since the acting seen in this episode is the kind of acting you'd expect to see in a teen drama airing on The CW. In that the acting is pretty over the top at times which really doesn't work with the world that this show and franchise is set in but I will give the actors this they are at least trying to make the script work it's just a shame they really can't make the script work.

Timeline wise i'd say that this show is set either ten years after The Walking Dead's final season or it's set either during or after season ten of The Walking Dead. Which means that this series is basically a sequel series since we now at least ten years into the zombie apocalypse and as such it really is hard to pin point exactly when this show takes place however I will say that producing a show that follows the first group of kids to have been fully raised in the zombie apocalypse is a solid idea.

What isn't a solid idea however is not only making the episode available just a few days before it's due to air on TV but also making a pretty dull first episode. Your debut episode is your first chance to really impress people and to get them hooked but you can't really do that if your episode is really dull to watch which is sadly the case here luckily this show is lasting two seasons otherwise I could've seen this show not even lasting one season.

This series was due to start airing on April 12th 2020 airing just after the season 10 finale of The Walking Dead. However for some reason the premier was delayed and I honestly have no idea why since all the episodes were finished and so all they had to do was air them and yet for some reason AMC who are airing the show decided to delay airing the series until October 4th 2020 which to me makes no sense since there were alot more people at home back in April and so the show could have drawn some really huge numbers since it's not only new content but it's also a spin off to a still pretty popular TV show and comic book franchise.

Even tho this show is still classed a horror show I personally think that this is more of a YA (young adult) type of show. Since it looks like alot of those really bad young adult movies from the mid to late 2000's which to me makes the show look cheap and hell there's even alot of teen drama in this episode which adds nothing to thew overall episode but is there for reasons and that's really it and that's not good enough since the drama doesn't effect the episode nor does it effect the characters in anyway shape or form it's just there as a vain attempt to attract a younger audience which really isn't a good enough reason to have this kind of drama in your show in my opinion.

Out of all three Walking Dead pilots (Fear The Walking and The Walking Dead are the other two incase you didn't know) that i've seen this one is the shortest clocking in at fifty three minuets long. Which while it does make it easier to sit through it also means that alot of the episode plot points feel rushed because there now rushing to get the characters to were they want them to go before the end of the episode instead of taking there time in getting them there at a more naturel pace but that's just what I think anyways.

It also means that we don't get to spend that much time with the characters before the events of this episode really start to take effect. Since when the episode starts one of the characters has already put plans in motion to leave and see the world as such we don't get to feel anything for our characters by the end of the episode and this is something that could have been fixed if the episode was a little bit longer since then we could get to know what the characters are like and hopefully start to care about them but we are not really given the chance to do so.

I would very much like to talk about the scares in this episode however the episode chose to help me out and not include any. Which honestly i'm in two minds about since on the one hand it makes sense that the characters would be used to seeing zombies at this point and so they wouldn't be scared by them but on the other hand this is still a horror show and as such it is kind of expected that you at least try to scare people even if it's just a jump scare.

Overall I can't really say that this was a good first impression because it really wasn't but on the other hand i've seen worse debut episodes before. All of the problems that i've had with this episode i've talked about in this post and for a debut episode to get so many fundamental things wrong is not a good sign at all as such I cannot say if i'll be watching more of this series i'll most likely check out episode but from there who knows and i'm not giving this a rating since the show has only just premiered and I don't like to give ratings out for debut episodes and incase your wondering you can watch this episode right now on AMC+ which is AMC's premium on-demand service and all the episodes will be released on there three days before they air on MAC which if you ask me is a very bad move indeed but that's just what I think.

All of the images that I used in this review were gathered from either Google Images or the official The Walking Dead fandom wiki page. I actually cannot say which is the best website to use for images from either this show or this episode since there both pretty much the same when it comes to the quality of the image but if you want very high quality images from anything to do with The Walking Dead then I highly recommend that you use the official The Walking Dead fandom wiki page and as perusal horror fans we end this post as we always do with our true goddess Elvira wishing us all some very unpleasant dreams.
