Corpse Bride Film Review

Tim Burton is a director who has made quite alot of really creepy films and despite the marketing hinting at otherwise he has only directed one stop motion animated film. With that film being the very film that i'm going to be taking a look at today just because of the fact that I wanted to watch an actually good family friendly horror film and so then join me as I review the film that is criminally underrated with the film in question being called simply just "Corpse Bride" enjoy.

The plot of this film is young groom Victor Van Dort unexpectedly finds himself married to a dead woman and so must find away out of this marriage so that he can marry someone in the world f the living. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good and was alot better and creepier then what it really should have been but entertaining all the same in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Johnny Depp as Victor Van Dort , Helena Bonham Carter as Emily and Emily Watson as Victoria Everglot. Also starring in this film is Tracey Ullman as Nell Van Dort and Hildegarde , Paul Whitehouse as William Van Dort , Mayhew and Paul The Head Waiter , Dame Joanna Lumley as Lady Maudeline Everglot , Albert Finney as Lord Finis Everglot and Grandfather Everglot , Richard E. Grant as Lord Barkis Bittern , the late and great Sir Christopher Lee as Pastor Galswells , Michael Gough as Elder Gutknecht , Jane Horrocks as The Black Widow Spider and Mrs. Plum , Enn Reitel as The Maggot and The Town Crier , Deep Roy as General Bonesapart , Stephen Ballantyne as Emil and this films songwriter and composer Danny Elfman as Bonejangles.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which really isn't all that surprising as this film is made up of some really good actors and actresses and it really helps that im Burton really does know how to get a good performance out of all of his cast members which when combined with the fact that this films casts members are a bunch of really good and actors and actresses then it's not really surprising that this film really does have some really good acting in it.

Doing the animation for this film is the legends and the greats that are currently over at Laika Entertainment. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual animation that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual animation in this very film was in all honesty really good with the animation being breath takingly beautiful and stunning and more then holds up even all of these many years later.

As mentioned this is the first stop motion animated film that Tim Burton directed with him only serving as a producer on both James And The Giant Peach and The Nightmare Before Christmas. With this film having that stereotypical Tim Burton look which does make the film look exactly like The Nightmare Before Christmas but while the two films do look exactly the same it's The Nightmare Before Christmas that is the better of the two of the films as that film is more fun and has more fun with it's setting where as in this film we don't really spend alot of time in this films version of the underworld.

I would have liked it if this film did spend alot more time in the underworld as that's where the film is it's most fun. With the film  just being a blast whenever those scenes come on and the film just being uninteresting when it;s the world of the living which shouldn't be the case as the film has a great mystery which takes place in the living world and so you'd think that some effort would be put into the making the scenes in the world of living just as fun and interesting as it's underworld is but that's sadly not the case.

This film is a musical with the films songs being written by the films composer Danny Elfman and this films co-screenwriter John August. I will admit that this films songs are pretty good with my personal favorite being "According to Plan" just because it is a really fun song that sets up just how opposite both families are with the Van Dorts being a loving family and the Everglots being money hungry and unloving but t the same time tho this films songs just aren't as memorable nor they as good as the songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas but while this films songs just aren't as good when compared to The Nightmare Before Christmas because there's not even a handful of songs all of the songs that we do get in this film are really very meaningful and add to the actual plot of the film which is not the case for alot of musical films.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and seventeen minuets and eleven seconds. While Haunted Mansion is to long this film has the opposite problem as it's far to short which means that the film has to rush from plot point to plot point in a rather inorganic way which means that this films plot points feel rushed instead of feeling earned and heck even the films crucial mystery of how killed emily in the first place isn't given that much attention but I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then since this is a comedy that means that I have to actually talk about the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual comedy that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this film having some pretty decent jokes in it but at the same time this film also has alot of really bad an unfunny jokes in it as well which really do bring down the overall quality of the jokes that we get in this film which is a shame because when this film tells a funny joke it is a really funny joke in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall this was a really good film but it's also a film that is full to the brim of wasted potential with the film just feeling like a rough cut of a film instead of the films final cut in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this review and as such that means that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies an gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Image actually has images from this film up on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
