The Exorcist: Believer Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

It seems that the current trend in horror cinema is to revisit old horror films by doing not a remake but a direct sequel and with the recent Halloween trilogy being a hit. We now have that film trilogy's writer and director David Gordon Green back to fill in the same shoes for another classic horror movie only this is one that hasn't really been touched at least film wise since the nineteen nineties and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the film that really tries to copy the formular layed out by Halloween 2018 with the film in question being called simply just "The Exorcist: Believer" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when two best friends start acting differently it's up to their parents to figure out what's happening to hem and save their lives before it's far to late. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that'd actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue as this films plot wasn't all that god with this films plot being at best boring and cliche and terrible at it'd worst in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Ellen Burstyn as Chris MacNeil , Leslie Odom Jr. as Victor Fielding and Ann Dowd as Ann. Also starring in this film is Jennifer Nettles as Miranda , Norbert Leo Butz as Tony , Lidya Jewett as Angela Fielding , Olivia Marcum as Katherine , Okwui Okpokwasili as Dr. Beehibe , Raphael Sbarge as Don Revans , Danny McCarthy as Stuart , E.J. Bonilla as Father Maddox and Tracey Graves as Sorenne Fielding.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With this films cast turning in some really good performances which wasn't really all that shocking as this films writer and director David Gordon Green really does know how to get a good performance out of his cast but the cast aren't really helped by the fact that this films script just isn't that good and so they can;t real;y turn in a good performance as this films script just won't allow for it.

For the absolute life of me I cannot find out anywhere online which companies actually did the CGI for this film. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad with this film using far to much CGI when practical effects not only would have been cheaper to use but they also would look really better as practical effects always look better then CGI making things worse is the fact that this film makes alot of use of CGI and so you can quite clearly tell when there using CGI.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!

I left a name of this review when I was listing who was starring in this movie with that name being Linda Blair as Regan MacNeil. With it being the fact that she was in this movie that made me turn this review into a SPOILER FILLED review sadly tho she's only in the movie for one scene near the end of the movie but considering that for a long time it looked like that we weren't even getting her in the movie at all i'd gladly take just one scene over nothing and with there already at least two confirmed sequels to be development this one scene could now lead to her having a main starring role in one of the two sequels.

This film does try to keep the theme of family that was present in the first film but it fails to do as the family in the first film was built up over time. Which just simply isn't the case with this film as withing the first twenty or so minuets of this film the girls have already been processed and we had so little time with them and their respective families and so that theme of family gets lost as we don't get to see that much of how they act when there with their family which is odd as when we do get one of those scenes they are some really good scenes but there so few and far between and they add very little to the girls characters or to their parents characters.

This film is trying so hard to recapture the magic of the first film that it forgets to be it's own thing be it from recreating shocking scenes from the first movie in this one to openly mocking lines of the first films dialog. All of which make the movie feel alot, more like a bad fan fiction as there's nothing unique to this film outside of the core concept of having two people getting possessed and that's not really enough as more doesn't always mean better the first film understood that and gave us unique concepts and ideas that changed the world of horror that we are to this very day still seeing where this film is just copying what other more recent horror films have dine and not doing any thing new or unique with it's themes or ideas.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and forty four minuets and fifty six seconds. If the first film had the problem of being far to long then this film has the opposite problem as it's far to short and as a result of that the film has no time to build up tension or dread as the film has to rush along to it's next plot point and jump scare but I will give the film this it does makes the most of that running time and it does have more then enough there interms of plot to cover that amount of running time it would have really helped the film tho if it took it's time a bit more tho just to let tension and dread build up which would made the scares mire effective and I will admit that this film does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual horror that's actually featured // presented tom us in this very film well then in all honesty I in,all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual horror that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad but that's also the issue as it wasn't all that god either. As this films horror could get pretty creepy in parts but because of the fact that there's no tension or a sense of dread both of which was oozing in the first film the scares that this film does have aren't scary as they perhaps could have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Overall this film had all of the potential to be a really good film but instead just couldn't reach that potential as all it did was copy what other recent horror films of this kind have been doing and that's really it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that earns that this very film earns itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and and gentleman I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film up on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

The Final Film Review

There are alot of horror films that sadly don't get alot of attention from either the mainstream audience or die hard horror fans alike....
