Alien: Romulus Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

There are quite alot of truly iconic horror franchises out there from Evil Dead to Friday The 13th and many more. With one of those franchise also being the Alien franchise and it's that franchise that like alot of horror franchises has been seeing alot of ups and downs recently and well then the newest film in the Alien franchise has just been released in cinemas and well the  then you all just new that I had to check this film the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the fil that has the hon or of t being the first Alien film to be technically produced by Disney with the film in question being called simply just "Alien: Romulus" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a bunch of scavengers go out to scavenge an old space station or spare parts they find something on there that they weren't quite expecting to find. Now then interms of what I personally thought felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the plot of the film being something that's oddly different and yet somehow the same from the Alien films that have come before us with the plot of this film doing a good job oof building up the threat of the Xenomorphs in a way that doesn't feel to condescending to older fans and yet at the same time done in a way that's friendly for potential new fans of this franchise as well with the plot of this film really being helped by the fact that's it's a plot that feels like that it was written by the fans and for the fans by people who are genuinely fans of the Alien franchise with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Pacific Rim Uprising and The Craft: Legacy Cailee Spaeny as Rain and Industry David Jonsson as Andy. Also starring in this film is Morbius , Upgraded , Catherine Called Birdy , The Greatest Beer Run Ever and The Other Zoey Archie Renaux as Tyler , Transformers: The Last Knight , Dora And The Lost City of Gold and Madame Web star Isabela Merced as Kay , Spike Fearn as Bjorn and Aileen Wu as Navarro.

Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought  felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With all of this films actors turning in some truly fantastic performances which is mostly due to the fact that this films co-writer and director Fede Álvarez really does know how to get a good performance out of his cast something that he's proven time and time again with all of his films and it's something that's reaffirmed here with this film as all of his actors manage to turn in some really good performance so much so that you stop seeing the actors and you start to see the character as that's just how well cast all of this films actors really are and just how good the acting that's in this film really is as well with the acting that's in this film really being helped by the fact the script for this film really is so well written that all this films actors really have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really doe help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Atomic Arts , Clear Angle Studios , Fin Design & Effects , Gentle Giant Studios , Image Engine Design , Industrial Light & Magic , Legacy Effects , Logan , Metaphysic , NVIZ , Studio Gillis , Track VFX and Wylie Co. Now then interms of what I personally thought /felt about the CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI thats actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good with the film using a very good mixture of both practical effects and CGI with the practical effects being used to help out the CGI effects which is a good way to use CGI as then all your doing is enhancing what was on there on the day to certain degree and your also able to match things up like the lighting from the set which in turn helps the CGI effect feel like it's actually there as it really does look like that it was actually with the CGI in this film also being good due to the fact that it also has some really good effects companies working on it as well.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!

This film does in it's own own way feature actor Ian Holm as his likeness and voice is used for the new character Rook with the character being played ad voiced by Daniel Betts. The character of Rook does seem like a pointless character as he really does nothing other then talk to fellow droid Andy and that's really it and while yes he does warn the current crew about the face huggers when when of there own is attacked and of course killed by one that's not really enough to justify his inclusion in the film as they could have done all of that just by having Andy access the ships computers and find out all f the information that way which would have gotten across the exact same amount of information in a way that also gives that character something else to do as apart from serving as the groups muscle and having him help the crew out several times he could then also be served as the audience character so that when he finds something out as a character we the audience are given that exact same information as well and while yes granted getting the information across that way could be seen as being pretty boring as there's no way in heck that you could do that in a way that feels natural it does also feel right for that character as he would go and check out information about where he is and find what he can about what's there as well.

As a film that's meant to be set in between Alien and Aliens the film does somewhat work as both a prequel and a sequel. As we find out that the ship that the crew are on is a rogue Weyland-Yutani ship. Which does kind of ask the question of how the Xenomorphs moved from one ship to another without other ships finding out about them and requesting help from other ships with this new ship being a really nice looking ship that does have alot of really good looking sets that would have by really interesting to see in a future prequel just so that they could explain how they went from one ship to another as that is something that there going to have answer at somepoint down the line and this is something that could have been avoided if they just set that the ship that the team are on is Nostromo which does make a very brief appearance near the start of the film in a fun little easter egg which does make this film again feel like that it was made for the fans of the first by people who were fans of the first film which is something that does work well enough in this films favor as the fans know what it is that works well enough in the Alien franchise and if the reviews are anything to go by then it's also the fans that were right about this film being that good as well.

Just to further hit home that this film was made for the fans by the fans this film really does take it's time building up it's tension. Something that was gone by Aliens and outright never even came back in the two prequel films and it is something that should have been brought back alot more sooner then what it was as its the tension of this film that makes this film all the more creepy and scary as even tho it take around about one hour to get to the very first reveal of the Xenomorph and you don't notice that it's been that long because of the fact that the tension was that well built up and it's something that this films co-writer and director Fede Álvarez does really well as even tho he got to the scares really quickly in his Evil Dead remake when it came to Don't Breathe on the other hand he took his time letting the tension build up and up and up before getting to a proper scare something that is also the case for this film and it works as it fully absorbs you into the world that this film takes place and it gets to the point where your just begging something actually scary to happen just so that you can't have that relief and when it doesn't all it does is make you more tense which then makes it really all the more better when the film does get to it's chest buster scene and the first reveal of the villains of this film as well as both of those are really well done and that's because of the fact that the film really took it's time to get to both of those moments and really made you wait for both of those moments as well.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and fifty one minuets and ne second. Which is a solid running tie for this film as the film really does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that large amount of running time and to this films credit it really does need that amount of running time in order to tell it's story in a really effective manor as there's nothing that you could cut form this film without it effecting the overall story as a whole which would make it very hard to cut down on alot of scenes without going back to the very beginning of the films development and the film really does take as full advantage of that running time as it really could have done and while yes the film would have been better if the film took the time to really fully develop it's characters which make there deaths all the effective then what they actually really are but at the same time tho that would also mean filling up the film with scenes that might very well seem like filler scenes and because of that they would also run the risk of making this film feel alot more slower paced then what it actually is but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this film having alot of really creepy and really inventive kills and alot of that does come from the fact that the film does take it's time in getting to even the first film and while yes the chest buster kill isn't that new or inventive it is done in a way in this film that make that kill feel all the more personal and while alot of the kills that are in this film don't really do that the ones that do are the ones that stand out with the best kill in the whole entire film coming just before the full reveal of the Xenomorph as it's tail cuts a guys throat open and then the all you see is Acid blood from the Xenomorph just drop onto the person that just got there throat slit which was just such ab inventive kill to do as it shows you just how far these creatures are willing to go in order to kill of anyone that isn't them and because of that we really did geta  really good kill out of it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall while it's far to early to tell if this is a return to form for this franchise it is on the right track to being a return to form but sadly only time well tell if this film is a true return to form this franchise as anyone can make one good Alien film but it takes skill to make more good ones tho in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review ad as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly an 8 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , the official Xenomorph fandom wiki page , Tenor and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being the official Xenomorph fandom wiki page really simply because the official Xenomorph fandom wiki page actually has images from this film really are up and on the official Xenomorph fandom wiki page and really plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on the official Xenomorph fandom wiki page really were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we really always do with really our one and really true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
