Dark Match Film Review

There are two things that very rarely if ever go together and that's the sport of professional wrestling and horror movies. Yet Shudder has now just released a wrestling based horror movie and since I love both horror and wrestling you all just knew that I had to check this movie out the very first chance that I got and so then join me as I review the film that shockingly doesn't have that many actual wrestlers in this wrestling based horror movie with the film in question being called simply just "Dark Match" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when a small time promoter is given the opportunity for him and his wrestlers to perform infront of a much more bigger crowd he jumps at the chance without realizing that both he and his wrestlers will have to  compete for there lives. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the plot of the film is an interesting plot with the plot of the film doing a good job of blending the horror aspects with the wrestling aspects really well and in a way that feels natural and organic and while the plot of the film could be seen as being a rip off of Pro Wrestlers Vs Zombies even down to having a pro wrestler in the film but here it is something that works as there are enough new elements to the films plot that does make it feel fresh and organic again and just like alot of Shudder's film this film is vastly different from all of the mainstream horror films that are coming out so much so that even from this films plot alone you can tell that no major Hollywood film studio would dare to touch this film as the plot of this film is just that weird and bizarre but in all of the best ways possible with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Steven Ogg as Joe Lean , Michael Eklund as Spencer and Sara Canning as Kate The Great. Also starring in this film is Jonathan Cherry as Rusty , Ayisha Issa as Miss Behave , Leo Fafard as Lazarus Smashley , Mo Adan as Enigma Jones , Geordie Cheeseman as The Talent Scout , Stephanie Wolfe as Carol Ann , Marie Zydek as Seductive Follower , Dianne Wulf as Woman In Crowd , Jonathan Lepine as Thick , Chris W. Cook as Director , Troy Fyhn as Naked Party Guy , Michelle Meade as Hot Tub Woman , Christopher Allan Arp as Outside Guard , A Burley Redneck and A Ringside Guard , Justin Lawrick as Thin and one of this films executive producers Chris Jericho as Prophet.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. With this films acting being really alot more better then what it really had any right to be as alot of this films actors aren't that well known and as such it would have been very unwise to expect great performances from any of this films actors and while the performances aren't great they are really good with the likes of Steven Ogg and Chris Jericho being the best of the bunch with Ogg even channeling his inner Trevor Phillips in certain scenes which only serves to make his performance alot better and while Chris Jericho could have been a little bit more better his performance did feel true to the character presented on screen with his character being someone is kind of cagey and is always keeping things to close his chest and Jericho does portray him as such with the acting that's in this very film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which s something that does hurt the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

This films characters aren't that well thought out with alot of them being nothing more then just there wrestling characters and that's really it. Which is something that really doesn't work given how wrestling is presented in this film and as a result of that is the fact that the makers of the film really should have given alot more thought into it's characters and given them fledged personalities instead of just making them very note characters which is something that does get old after awhile and it is something that prevents us the audience from liking alot of the films characters as the only one to get  decent amount of thought put into his character at least from the heroes point of view is Steven Ogg's character and even then you could make the case that he's just playing a more tamer version of his character from GTA V  which is something that does work decently enough for this character but at the same time tho it would have been nice if the makers of this film did indeed give us anything that made these characters standout from one enough as alot of the characters just blend into one with this not really being helped by the fact that alot of the characters being really unlikable which does make it hard to form a connection with any of this films characters and while Steven Ogg's character does come across as being somewhat likable it does take a while for him to get there by which time it's far to little to late and what's worse is the fact that this is something that really could have been fixed with a rewrite of the films script.

With this being a wrestling based movie you'd expect the wrestling to be really good sadly tho that is not the case. As to be frank the wrestling that's in this movie is the kind of wrestling that you'd expect to see in a kids wrestling show and not something that you'd expect to see on TV with it being made painfully obvious that this films actors didn't do any or alot of the wrestling moves in this film as the camera would cut to shot where you can't see the face of the actor performing the move and while this kind of kid show wrestling would be fine if this was a kids wrestling movie where wrestling is being presented as something that's real here tho it's something that really doesn't work as wrestling is being presented as something that's scripted and this is an adult wrestling movie and as such there really should have been more effort into making the actual wrestling aspects of the movie look more well and heck they even have a wrestling legend in Chris Jericho in the cast so they very easily could have gone to him and asked him to train up some of the actors because it does come across as being obvious that none of this films actors had ever stepped foot in a professional wrestling ring and there characters are meant to be pro wrestlers so it would have helped the film out in the long if the actors where given time prior to filming the movie to get the ring and learn a few really basic movies that could then adapt and use in this movie but for some reason the makers of this movie chose not to go that route and as a result of that is the fact that we get wrestling that not only looks fake as heck but alot doesn't look as good as it really could have done given that the characters performing them really are meant to be professional wrestlers.

To give this film at least some sort of credit it does use the wrestling aspect of this film in a really creative and fun way. By giving us matches in which the wrestlers themselves can only win if they end up killing there opponent which is a fun aspect to the film and it's one that the film does indeed take as fully advantage if as it really could have done by giving a horror themed spin on the classic inferno match and with each match type being based on one of the four elements it means that we do get to see some really inventive matches in this movie but even those can't take away from the fact that the overall quality of the wrestling as a whole is just bad and while yes this film most likely had a really small budget thus most likely couldn't afford to have some actual wrestlers in this movie it is something that would have helped this movie out in the long run as they would know how to take the moves that the characters do to each other in this movie and make them look good which in turn would make the movie look even better then what it already is and while people who love horror won't care about how good the quality of the wrestling is in this movie the people who love wrestling certainly will and if your making a wrestling based horror movie then you need to cater to both of those audiences and that means not only having some really good looking kills and gore but it also means having some really good looking wrestling as well.

Without giving anything away the ending for this film is pretty bad as this film does the one thing that films really shouldn't do. With that being just end for no rhyme or reason and that is something that does make the ending to this film feel alot like sequel baiting when infact it should have just been focusing on wrapping up the story of this film and while yes this is film is decent enough that it could score a sequel but given that Shudder very rarely if ever hand out sequels it makes no sense for them to have an ending that's open ended that it could quite possibly leave itself open to a sequel as all that does is make it look like that the makers of this film are thinking about sequels when what they should be thinking about is making a film that people want to see more off and characters that people want to see more from something that this film sadly doesn't do as the world that this film creates isn't interesting enough to where they could do sequels and the characters aren't likable enough to were you want to see them in sequels and while the wrestling aspect of this movie could have been improved upon if they did do a do a sequel there's nothing in this films plot that really does leave the story open for further films as everything gets tied up in a nice little bow by the end of the film all of which makes this films ending seem pointless with it only being included in there so that the film can show us it's pretty bad to sometimes decent looking CGI monster and that's really it ad that's not enough to justify having a whole scene in your movie.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty three minuets and forty three seconds. Which is pretty much the exact grand total running time that you'd expects a film like this one to have and to this films credit this film really does have just the right amount there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho the films characters really aren't that well developed and thought out with the same thing also being true for the plot of this film as well with the film introducing things and then very quickly dropping them seemingly for no reason whatsoever all of which makes it feel like that the makers of this film really aren't taking as full advantage of there running time as they perhaps could have done as you very easily could have developed all of your key characters and the plot of your movie within that running time heck just look at the 1984 film version of A Nightmare On Elm Street as a good example of that as that film had a very similar running time to this film and yet it developed it's plot and it's characters and it took full advantage of it's running time by also developing the world upon which the film takes place in none of which are done in this film with this film feeling like it has thing running time just so the makers of the film can say that they made a feature length film with Chris Jericho in it and that's really it and that's not good enough reason if your not going to justify your film having this long of a running time but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does means that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. With the film having some really decent kills in it all of which are play on the type of match that there in like the fact that the female lead of this movie Miss Behave wrestlers the character of Kate in a water match and she wins be dowsing her in water and snapping her neck but the best kill in the movie goes to either Thick or Thin as they take another tag team in a wind match where one of them cut open pretty badly which is just such a cool kill with the only kill that's a bit of a let down is oddly enough that of Jericho's himself as even tho he's mean the main villain of the film his kill is treated more as an afterthought and really isn't as over the top and as gory as it really should have been as that would been more a fitting end for this character but instead the kill that they did go with just felt like a let down when it should have been so much more bigger and more extravagant then what we ultimately ended up with as the kills for all horror film villains really should be over the top and be very satisfying because of it and that's sadly not something that we got in this very film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while it would be hard to say if this is the best pro wrestling based horror film out there simply because of the fact that I haven't seen alot of the others what I can say is that this film is a flawed but delightfully twisted film that is sure to please the people who love wrestling in one respect but is sure to please the people who love horror films in alot more respects as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score old score of exactly a 6.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this film really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.

Mouse Of Horrors Film Review

For some strange reason indy horror makers have this fascination of turning Mickey Mouse into a slasher villain. As this film is the first of at least FOUR maybe even more then that Mickey Mouse based slasher films that are due to come out this year as we also have the very recently announced I Heart Willie , Screamboat and The Mouse Trap: Welcome To The Mickeyverse all of which feature the mouse as a slasher villain and that does seem like over kill as it can kill the novelty of having a beloved childrens characters be the villain in the a slasher movie and so then join me as I review the review the film that features not one but TWO Disney characters as the villains with the film in question being called simply just "Mouse Of Horrors" enjoy.

The plot of this film is a bunch of teenager go to the fair where they stalked by a man dressed as a mouse and one dressed as a bear both of which are trying to kill them for there body parts and both of which the teens must avoid if they want to survive the night. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really bad as it just seems like a carbon copy of the plot of The Mouse Trap only done a little bit better with this films plot not really being all that interesting either as it's clear that this films plot was a n afterthought once the idea of the making Mickey Mouse the main villain came into the minds of the people that made this film and as such this films plot is one that on paper should have worked but due to the fact that nothing about this films plot feels all that well thought out and developed it instead comes across as being good idea that was wasted on a good film and even if this film did copy The Mouse Trap with it's setting and killer they still should have learned from the mistakes of that films plot and at least put in some effort into crafting a good story which is something that the makers of this film sadly don't do with the plot of this film not really being really rather entertaining nor is it really rather engaging either in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Lewis Santer as The Killer , Stephen Staley as The Bear and Chris Lines as Dr. Rupert. Also starring in this film is Natasha Tosini as Chloe , Allie Moreno as Kim , Erin Sanderson as Meg , Rosie Edwards as Lucy , Harry Giubileo as Charlie , Nichaela Farrell as Brandy , Jake Watkins as Jake , Danielle Scott as Taylor , Thomas K. Murphy as Michael , Tessa Wood as Janet , Eve Vice as Dana , Misti Taylor as Molly , Johnny Vivash as Paul Chamberland , Nicholas Soden as Ryan The Runner , Michelle Bauer as Silvia Sand and Geretta Geretta as Sinthia Sharp.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty just as bad as you'd really want it to be. As let's be honest here these types of slasher movies don't really command good acting in them and while some of them do have some decent acting in them like Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 for example this film is not that film as the acting in this film whilst it's not as bad as the acting in The Mouse Trap was it's still pretty bad but at the same time tho you can tell that all of the films actors are at least trying to make the films script work for them the issue is tho is that this films director and producer Brendan Petrizzo really has no idea of how to get a good performance out of his actors and as such all of this films actors just feel lost and unsure of what kind of performance to give in this film as there just so unsure of what to do in this film from a performance perspective with this films acting not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities is even meant to be in the first place which s something that really does help to lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

As was mentioned at the start of this review this film does technically have two Disney characters as it's main villains. With the other one being oddly enough Winnie The Pooh with the makers of this film even using the original design from the first Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey film even down to the cheap looking mask and while this film is NOT set within the confides of the Twisted Childhood Universe it does feel weird seeing that version of Winnie The Pooh show up in this movie and it's not like he's a just a cameo character either he plays a slightly big role in the film and is in it quite alot and this is something that does make you wonder why the makers of this film even watched the first Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey film because if they did then they'd know that people hated that look for the character so much so that the makers of the sequel actually took the time to improve upon the characters design which just makes the makers of this film look lazy as they use the design that nobody liked all for no reason and while yes the character is in the public domain it still doesn't change the fact that the makers of this film didn't bother to change anything about the look of the character to make it fit there world and instead chose to go with the design and mask that alot of people who would watch this film would straight away pick up on as this is something that does also make there film look even more cheaper then what it already is.

In case it's not made clear by both the name of the movie nor who the main villain's mask and name is meant to be but one of this films main villains is quite clearly Mickey Mouse. While having Mickey Mouse as the main villain does indeed have it's novelty it's one that thanks to low budget indie horror film makers it's one that's sadly starting to loose it's novelty as there's only so many times that you can see this character turned into a horror film villain before it's not only starts to get old but also really boring as well say what you will about the Winnie The Pooh horror films but at least there was only two of them so far thus meaning that the novelty of seeing that character in a horror film setting is still there and yet with Mickey Mouse we are due to get dozens of them all within the next five years alone and that is something that is ultimately going to do more harm then good as by the time the last one comes out whenever that is no matter how good that film might look nobodies going to want to see as they've already seen a horror film where Mickey Mouse is the main villain some times waiting and seeing is the best thing and if your not going to do anything new with the character then what's the point as this film doesn't do anything new or interesting with the character as it's just a man dressed up in a Mickey Mouse mask and that's it and yet the film does nothing interesting with the fact that it has someone who is blatantly meant to be Mickey Mouse as it's main villain something that it very easily could have done with just a few lines of dialog and that in the end would help the film standout more from all of the other Mickey Mouse based horror films both out there and that are yet to come as well.

While it is hard to say just how big this films budget was exactly it's clear as day that this film didn't have a very big budget. As the films has a passable Mickey Mouse mask and it straight up reuses the Winnie The Pooh design from Blood And Honey 1 but this film also has some really painfully laughable CGI which makes the effects in Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania look good by comparison with all of this films CGI effect being the best part of the film just due to how bad that they are and no joke one of them near the end of the movie is so bad and so laughable that I had to actually stop and rewind the movie just so I could see it again as it's just that bad granted this film would have a very small budget but you have to work within your limitations or find creative solutions something that the makers of this film quite clearly didn't do as they didn't work within there limitations at all and they didn't find creative solutions to all of the bad looking CGI look say what you will about The Mouse Trap but at least that film worked within it's small budget and found creative solutions that came up because of it's small budget here the bad CGI and the bad sound effects whilst they do make the film really painfully to watch to watch they also emphasise just how cheap that this movie was to maker with that quality really dragging the film down even further as at least with the first Blood And Honey film for the most part barring the bad costumes for both Piglet and Winnie The Pooh you couldn't tell that that film had a really mall budget where as here you can tell right from the first shot that this has a really small budget.

To give this film some very small amount of credit it does know exactly what kind of film that it is and because of that the film does become more of a horror comedy then a straight up slasher film. With some of this films jokes working and others just not working all together which is exactly the route that indie horror film makers should take when there making a beloved kids animated TV show character in a horror villain as then they can lean into the campiness of the original character and lean into the cheesiness that films like this do more often then not have and it's when this film leans into those elements that it does become more fun to watch and actually watchable but the film doesn't lean into those very elements all that often and even when it does it's usually for a scene or two and that's really it with the rest of the film completely playing it straight which means that the concept of having Mickey Mouse as the main villain doesn't really work as the film can't have any fun with that idea and when the whole film banks on that idea working then everything else surrounding the film just straight up doesn't work as we the audience aren't here to watch this films dreadful attempt at compelling or even good character we want to see Mickey Mouse act as a villain for a change and part of that does mean leaning into the more campy and more cartoonish aspects of the character instead of only going half way which makes the film alot less fun to watch when a film like this just due to it's concept alone really should be the most fun to watch.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty three minuets and twenty six. Which is pretty much the bogstandard for all of these Mickey Mouse based horror films and while the film does have more then enough there interms of plot to really cover that amount of running time this film really didn't need to be this long as you very easily could have cut this film down to about one hour hour and fifteen minuets and you wouldn't loose anything that's actually important to the plot of the film as the plot isn't that well developed in the first place. With this film not even taking that full advantage of it's running time by developing it's characters as all of this films characters both hero and villain are just very one dimensional and bland characters with it being obvious that the makers of this film don't care about making us the audience actually care for it's characters as they thought that having Mickey Mouse be the main villain would be more then enough to get people to watch the film and while that might be the case if you want your film to actually be good then you need to have good characters and a good plot to go with them otherwise what's the point in even trying to make a film a first place as your audience just won't care about your characters and if our audience doesn't care about your characters the you've already lost the battle but I really will admit that this film really does have some really bad pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this film does have some really good looking gore and kills in it but what lets this film is the one thing that lets alot of this film down and that's the fact that it's a cheap film that in this case also has alot of really cheap sounding sound effects and while that might sound like a nit pick but a good sound effect can make or break a kill as every kill in every slasher movie ha to sound like it hurt to watch and in this case they just don't as they sound like alot of sound effects that you can use for free which is great if your making a home movie with your friends but for a low budget indie horror movie there really should have been more effort into creating actually good hearing sound effects as those will make the kills alot better with this film not having a standout kill as the sound effects just kill every little bit of tension that the film does at least try to build up and while all of the kills in this very do have some decent gore effects in them those aren't enough to make up for the poor sounding sound effects as all they do is remind you that your watching a very bad movie which is something that just isn't the case for either of the Blood And Honey films as they at least have decent sounds effects that make the kills in those movie actually sound like that they actually really do indeed hurt in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall while The Mouse Trap was the worst movie that I watched last year this one is very serious contender for my worst movie of this year as it's just a flat out bad movie that can at times be a chore to sit through and watch but when this film does get entertaining it can also be a really entertaining film to watch as well you just have to sit through alot of the bad stuff to get to a few moments of the good stuff in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 4.5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and a well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Disney fandom wiki page , Tenor and Google Images.

Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare Film SPOILER FILLED Film Review

For some weird reason Hollywood is really liking the idea of turning beloved children's characters into horror villains with us getting at the very least three more of those types of horror films this year alone. With the film that i'm going to be reviewing for you all today being the latest in the Twisted Childhood Universe of films but what sets this film apart from all of the others in this new found genre of horror is that it's ital character HASN'T just entered the public domain as he's always been in the public domain for many decades now which really makes it weird that it's taken all of these decades for the character to be the star of a horror film and so then join me as I give you SPOILER FILLED review of the film should have been alot better with the film in question being called simply just "Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when her young brother Michael is kidnapped it's up to Wendy Darling to find him and stop his kidnapper Peter Pan from taking more kids to Neverland. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually feature / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not the best but it's also not that bad of a plotline either as it's pretty much the exact same type of plot that you'd expect from a Peter Pan based horror film and yet at the same time this films plot lacks alot of magic and wonder that really would have made it not only stand out from all of the horror films out there but it also would have made it more in line with the original book as well as the original book was a dark book and yet by playing it as safely as they do it robs the film of having a plot that can truly turn the tale of Peter Pan on it's head because it's to busy trying to be a mature and adult version of the Disney film rather then telling a good and scary story in it's own right and yet if this films plot had alot of magic and wonder put into it then it not only could have been the most straight forward adaptation of the book in terms of tone but it also would have made the plot of the film more creepier as well but it also would have felt slightly out of line with the other films in this universe as well as they take a more realistic approach to there characters where s this one would need to be a full on fantasy horror film with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this film is Martin Portlock as Peter Pan , Megan Placito as Wendy Darling and Kit Green as Tinker Bell. Also starring in this film is Peter DeSouza-Feighoney as Michael Darling , Charity Kase as Captain James Hook , Teresa Banham as Mary Darling , Campbell Wallace as John Darling , Hardy Yusuf as Joey , Kelly Rian Sanson as Mia , Nicholas Woodeson as Steven , Kierston Wareing as Roxy and Olumide Olorunfemi as Tiger Lily.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However at the same time tho the acting in these Twisted Childhood Universe films has never been all that great and that is something that does continue in this film as this films actors give performances that you'd expect to see in a made for TV movie which is something that does make sense as alot of them are very little to unknown actors and as such it really would be foolish to expect great performances in this film even with this films producer , writer and director Scott Jeffrey who played Christopher Robin in Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey 2 who is a solid actor not really making for that good of a director which does make sense as this was the first film that he directed and as such he doesn't quite know how to get a good performance out of his actors just yet but he does show promise in that department with this films acting being on par with the first Blood And Honey film rather then the second one interms of acting quality with this films acting not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective characters personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

If there's one thing that this film gets right it's the fact that they made Peter Pan himself a creepy character. As even in the Disney film they made him look pretty creepy in certain and all this film did was make him alot more creep then what he already is but at the same time tho his creepy look really doesn't work with how he tries to get the kids to come with him as all that does is make him look insane and it makes the kids that do fall for him seem dumb as he's obviously a creepy looking person who's not to be trusted and yet alot of the kids and even Tinkerbell really trust him in this film and while that might work if he had a less creepy look to him and was written a bit less creepy as well given how he looks and how he's written it doesn't quite work which makes it feel like the that the makers of the film were banking on the fact that it's a Peter Pan horror film and using that idea to sell tickets and hoping that that will be enough to get people to like the film instead of giving us a well thought out character who can still be creepy but where it's understandable as to why these kids would fall for him and his charms in the first place which is something that would help to make the film a much more better and well thought out film but as it is the character of Peter Pan just isn't that well written despite the fact that the idea behind the character is a really solid idea it just needed more of a push in the right direction to make it a great idea.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

This film borrows some imagery from other and quite frankly better horror films with even the first shot that we see of Peter being eerily similar to Pennywise trying to temp to Georgie in the first IT film or even the Evil Dead for that matter. With the film having alot of scenes that are like this with there straight being scenes that remind of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and other horror films as well and all that does is remind you that you could be watching some much more better films and while it's great to tip your hat to other horror films you also want to make sure that your film is just as good and that those references or influences aren't to distracting which is sadly what they were here and yet while the film does make nods to those films it doesn't understand what it was that made them great in there original films in the first as Pennywise in the nineties IT film was a genuinely good clown and he used that to lure his kids in where as here Peter is to creepy to lure in kids despite him putting on cheery face and he's not the type of character that would suffocate someone but Sheriff Hoyt is due to his military background and so he would suffocate people to get the information that he needs out of them where as Peter doesn't have anything that he needs to get out of people and so it makes no sense for him to be doing something like that to people as that's not in his character to do so with it coming across as the makers of this film just threw in those visual nods to other horror films in the hopes that it would distract us the audience from what's going on on screen without realizing that all it's doing to taking people out of the movie.

Peter Pan is a character that's been in the public domain for quite literally decades as his original author J. M. Barrie gave up his right to characters to a childrens hospice decades ago. As such it is something that really does make you wonder why it's taken until now or there to be a Peter Pan based horror film as while yes doing horror films based off of popular children's characters a relatively new thing the original book and play Peter and Wendy has been around since 1904 with there being film versions of the story dating back to as early as 1924 and as such it isn't out of the realm of possibility that there could have been a horror based Peter Pan film since then and with even the book it self being a pretty dark book with Pan himself even killing off any of The Lost Boys that wanted to leave Neverland and Tinkerbell showing a more violent side to her when in conflict with Wendy all of which would have made for a great film and it is something that given how dark the book can get does make sense as to why this character became a horror villain as he basically already was one in the first place but the film robs us of anything that makes Peter Pan feel like Peter Pan outside of a few references to things and a line of dialog later on in the film and that's rally it but we do get to see Peter's signature pose tho which was nice to see but it's still something that doesn't make this film as good as it really could have been tho.

Whilst this film is indeed set within the same fictional world as Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey the film actually has only one connection for those movies. That being the fact that Teresa Banham is actually reprising her role from the second Blood And Honey film which was actually rather refreshing as usually films that are set within the same fictional universe usually spend either alot of time in setting up the other films or in reminding you that it's set in the same universe as these other films and outside of the fact that Teresa Banham is playing the same character and the fact that we get to go to Ashdown again there's next to nothing in this film that connects it to the previous films which is a good idea as it shows that the makers of these films are indeed taking these films seriously and are not just making them to be a quick cash grab which would have been super easy to do given just much wide spread attention the first Blood And Honey film got and yet by not doing that it allows them to focus in on making each of the films as good as they can be and while that doesn't work for this film mostly due to the fact that it ha a first time writer and director making it you can tell right away that there is alot of care and effort put into this film and while that won't make the film better in any way shape or form it does indeed show that the makers of these films are willing to take on criticism from the films and make them better just like at Blood And Honey 2 as proof of that.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and twenty five minuets and forty six seconds. Which is pretty much the bogstanderd running time for these films with this film also having just the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time but at the same time tho this film really doesn't use it's running time as well it really could have have done as none of the characters are that well developed with the big blow up between Wendy and Mary coming out of nowhere and adding quite literally nothing to the actual plot of the film and the fact that Tinker Bell is now either a transvestite or transgender isn't made all that clear in the film but what is made clear is the fact that she's addicted to drugs and just like the rest of the characters isn't that well developed either as all of there characters just come across as being very note with the same thing also being true for all of the films side characters alot of whom are also rather forgettable characters as well and this is something that really could have been fixed if the film had a longer running time even more so when you take into account that alot of these actors are due to reprise there roles in other films and yet this film doesn't give us a reason to care about these characters in the first place let alone want to see more of them in other movies in the first but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a slasher film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. However tho at the same time given that this film did have a budget that was pretty much the exact same as Blood And Honey 2 they really could have done better kills in this film but to this films credit tho when it does do an original kill it does look pretty cool but it's also during this films kills that the film thinks that it's Terrifer 2 with all of the blood only without any of the wit and charm to pull it off with the best thing about this films kills is oddly enough Peter himself as he doesn't have a go to weapon of choice and so he's forced to use whatever happens to be near him at the same time and that does result in some pretty gruesome death scenes in this film with the best death scene in this film actually being hr first kill of the film where Peter cuts open the top of the head of James's mother and he lets her just bleed out basically which was such a gnarly kill it's just a shame tho that alot of the other kills in this film weren't as good as that one was as alot of this films kills are pretty generic cheaply made slasher film kills with nothing new or original added to them to make them feel new or unique again in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall let us hope that Bambi: The Reckoning which is so far due to be the next one of the Twisted Childhood Universe films to be released is at the very least better then this film as this film had all of the potential to be a really good film and yet for one reason or another it really just couldn't live up to that potential and instead what we got was a film that's just nothing more then an average film in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as we all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all o the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys an girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , the official The Twisted Childhood Universe fandom wiki page , IMP Awards .

Wolf Man 2025 Film SPOILER FREE Film Review

It seems that right now the only thing that mainstream Hollywood seems to know how to do is make remakes. As have yet another remake of a classic horror movie and while this one does have some pedigree behind it it doesn't change the fact that alot of horror remakes just don't work and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FREE of the film that sees Leigh Whannell try resurrect another Universal monster with the film in question bring called simply just "Wolf Man" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when he inherits his old childhood house from his estranged father Blake Lovell moves his entire family from San Francisco to Oregon and while there Blake gets bitten by something that will changes his life and the lives of his wife and daughter forever. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us un this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as it does give us something new from this character instead of just straight up redoing the original films plot this film instead does something new and different by having it be a family man that gets bitten and struggle to contain the wolf within him which is a good and to the films credit it is something that whilst it was most likely done in the original film it is also something that works for this film as he's not only just trying to protect himself but he's also trying to protect his entire family which is something that does add a layer of tension to the films plot as we all know that eventually he's going and while the film might have a few predictable plot beats in it those don't really stop the plot of the film from being an enjoyable plot with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Try as I might but there is no complete cast list for this film anywhere online as such starring in this film is Christopher Abbott as Blake Lovell / The Wolf Man , Julia Garner as Charlotte Lovell , Matilda Firth as Ginger Lovell , Sam Jaeger as Grady Lovell and Zac Chandler as Young Blake Lovell. Even tho those are the only actors whose roles are listed the film does have a fairly solid in it's own right and while at the very least one of them won't be a house hold name he is something that you'll recognize from a childhood TV show with the actor being Milo Cawthorne who of course played Ziggy Grover on Power Rangers RPM and yet even with having a fairly small amount of actors in this film the film does make the absolute best use of them as alot of them do have alot to do in the film and to be a fair a property like this one is one that works best with a smaller amount of characters as it means that the film can be more personal and that when the film does have a really emotional moment with the characters then it really does mean something as these are the characters that we are forced to spend alot of time and not be darting round to several other characters but at the same time tho this is also a property that works well with larger cast members as well as it would mean getting to see how the character of The Wolf Man effects not only his loved ones like his family for example but also his friends and others that are close to him an that's something that this film really can't do with the small amount of the cast that it has starring in this very film.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad. As this film does have some really good acting in it but at the same time tho given who is is not only writing this film but also directing it the acting that's in this film also isn't as good as it really could have been either as we know from The Invisible Man remake that this films co-writer and director Leigh Whannell really really does know how to get a good performance out of his actors and yet that's a skill that he seems to have lost in this film as while yes we do get some really good performances in this film that's more due to the fact that the actors that are cast in this film are a bunch of really good actors in there own right and not due to the fact that Leigh Whannell is giving them good direction with alot of this films actors just feeling either lost or incredibly miscast with the best actor in this film being young Matilda Firth as Ginger Lovell being the true standout performer in this film and is one that should she continue to want to act will definitely have a bright future ahead of her as she's just that good in this film with the acting that's in this very film not really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so bad as it gives none of this films actors absolutely nothing to work with interms of what it is that there respective personalities are even meant to be in the first place which is something that really does lower the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

When the makers of this film were promoting this film they very wisely chose not to reveal what the creature looks like. Which given how the creature does look works to this films advantage as to say that this films design for the character would look bad would be a huge understatement and whereas the makers of Nosferatu not revealing what Count Orlok looked like worked because the design that they had was meant to be a surprise here it was done due to the fact that the design for the character leaked online and fans hated it which is something that makes it all the more weirder when in the teaser trailer or the film and indeed all of the films trailers you don't get a good look at the creature only seeing bits of him but never getting a full reveal which would be OK if they were going to listen to the fans and change what he looked like digitally but as fay as I can tell they just stuck to the same design ad without giving much away about this creature looks like it is a design that whilst it might works for the more realistic tone that this film is quite clearly going for but at the same time it also lacks that special something that made the original design not only a great looking design but also one that is so iconic that it is still used and referenced to this very day and that's just not something that will happen with this design for the character as here the creature just looks bland and boring with there being nothing interesting about the design that makes him stick out from all of the other half human half wolf monsters out there.

This film is of course a very loose remake of the 1941 film The Wolf Man with this film pretty much only being The Wolf Man in name only. As part from the fact that someone gets bitten by a wolf and who then gets forcibly transformed into a wolf the two films have very little in common with each other and heck they don't even take place in the same country and while I personally haven't seen the original film I have see clips off of it on Youtube and it does look like a much more better film then this film and that is something that's to be expected as the original are nearly always better then the originals which makes you wonder why Universal decided to remake this film out of the fact that The Invisible Man remake made them a tone of money and that's really it and while I do give the makers of this film for at the very least trying something new with this property just because it's new doesn't mean that it's better as sometimes sticking to what works for a property is the best way to go about it and that's something that this film just doesn't do as it's more focused on giving us new things which yes is a good thing as it shows that creativity isn't dead but at the same time given that this is remake the people that are going to be watching this film are going to be expecting it to be somewhat like the original film and not so different that you might ass well as call it something different and infact calling it something different might actually end up helping the film out in the longer run as then you won't get people comparing it badly to the original film.

To put things rather bluntly this film is just bland as there's not really all that much to this film in anyway shape or from. With the films characters being uninspired with the wife being the stereotypical workaholic who barely has time for kid and the daughter and father are just cardboard cutout of better written characters and this is something that really is a huge issue and it's where having a small amount of characters really does come into effect in a negative light as this films characters are just so flat ad uninspired that your left begging for any somewhat interesting character to come along and when they don't that's when you realise that we're going to be spending alot of the film with these dull characters and if your going to make us the audience do that then your characters need to have something really anything about them that makes them interesting and that makes us want to see more of them but the makers of this film forgot to do that and as a result of that is the fact that we are now left characters that we just don't care about as the film doesn't give us a reason to care about them one way or the other and this is something that alot of remakes be they for horror films or not tend to do as they just expect the audience to rely on there knowledge of the original film to make the characters in the remake interesting which is just lazy screenwriting as it shows that the makers of this film aren't that bothered with creating good or even interesting characters as all they are instead in is cashing in on a paycheck and that's really it.

One of the things that this film gets sort of right is the relationship between Blake and Ginger as it's there relationship that really does hold the film together. As you really do need to buy them as a loving father and daughter and we see that all throughout the film the two of them really do care for each other and it's their relationship that really does get tested the most when Blake is bitten and starts to turn into a werewolf and yet at the same time due to how little we are the audience care for these characters because of the fact that this film really doesn't really give us a reason to care for any of it's characters outside of the fact that there a family and that's really it and when your whole film centers on the relationship between a father and his daughter then a great deal more effort should have been made into making sure that we actually care about them as characters as that would make the film a whole lot more better and it would make the characters more likable as well but as things stand while the relationship is done well and is built up rather well as well it's something that does feel like an undercooked idea and that if it was given more then enough time to fully develop then it is something that also could have been a really great idea as well and it's something that could have been used to mirror what Blake's relationship was like with his father but outside of one scene near the beginning and one near the end of the film the film does nothing that's all that interesting with the father and daughter relationship.

Now then this film has / had an exact grand total running time of exactly one hour and thirty one minuets and fifteen seconds. Which is a bit of a short running time for this film to have but at the same time tho this film really doesn't have all that much there interms of plot to cover a longer running time in the first place and as such it really does make sense that this film would have a shorter running time but at the same time tho if this film was a tad bit longer then it would allow to fix alot the issues that are in this film as it would mean that the characters would get more of a chance to showcase what it is that there personalities are even meant to be in the first place and it would mean that the relationship between Blake and Ginger could be more developed but at the same time tho is that it would also mean getting alot of scenes where nothing happens to advance the actual plot of the film as for some strange reason this film wants to make sure that the werewolf is kept hidden until the third act and it wants to make sure that Blake doesn't fully turn for along time which is great for a few minuets but it does also slow the pacing down to a crawl at certain points in the film as all your left ding is watching these characters that you don't really like just sit and wait for something to happen and that's it and that is something that does really quite get boring really quickly but the film really does pick up the pace again when Blake does turn but I really will admit that this film really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual scares that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual scares that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film were in all honesty really lame. As all they were was just jump scares and they were jump scares that weren't even that well done as while granted you couldn't see them coming at you from a mile away alot of the time jump scares are quite alot of the time just not that scary and when you have a character who is forced to turn into a werewolf and you don't have him do anything that's all that scary then what's the point in even making this film as you could have done so much creepy and scary stuff with this character and yet the makers of this film chose just to have him jump scare people and that's it and that's not enough to make a film scary and while yes jump scares can indeed be very effective just look at the original Halloween for evidence of that but what that film did and what this film doesn't do is create atmosphere and tension and as such when a jump scare does happen in this film it's something that just does't work or just doesn't work as well it should have done as it feels like that the makers of this film but alot of effort into the werewolf design but then forgot to include some actual scares and so just throw in some jump scares and put in some spooky music over the top of them and called it a day as this films jump scares just come across as being that bad and that lazy as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall stick with the original film as this film is nothing more then a bland and average film that doesn't even know how to scare people and heck if you have the choice between seeing this film and Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare this weekend go and see Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare as at the very least then you'll still be entertained by how bad that film could be in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and as such that really does mean that this very film really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 5 out of 10 from me.

Piglet Film Review

For some strange reason it's now become the in thing in Hollywood to turn classic childhood characters into slasher horror film villains...
