Sinners Film Review

This year seems to be the year where all we seem to be getting is badly done horror movie after badly done horror movie. With there being a shockingly few amount of actually good horror movies being released this year well a film has just been released that is actually good film and so then join me as I review the film that had it's entire plot spoiled in it's trailer with the film in question being called simply just " Sinners" enjoy.

The plot of this film is when twin brothers return home after living in a different city for year they decide to open a bar but discover that there's somethin far more sinister lurking in the town that they once called home. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as the plot of the film is original to a certain degree as elements of the films plot are borrowed from From Dusk Till Dawn but at the same time tho this film does take alot of time in setting up the plot of the film which is something that does work both r and against the film it works for the film in the way that it allows the characters to be properly set up and established but it works against the film in the way that nothing is actually happening to advance the plot of the film with it feeling like stuff is just happening for no reason whatsoever which can at times make this film be hard to watch but when the plot does get going that's when it gets interesting as this films plot can be seen as being a fun plot and going against the tropes that you would most likely find in movies like this one which is something that does make it a fun watch but when the plot takes a while to get going it makes you wonder why the makers of this film went that route as a plot like this is not only strong enough to support an entire movie it's also one that doesn't require that long to get going in the first place with the plot of this film also being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in his film is Michael B. Jordan as Elijah "Smoke" Moore and Elias "Stack" Moore and Hailee Steinfeld as Mary. Also starring in this film is Miles Caton as Sammie Moore , Buddy Guy as Old Sammie , Jack O'Connell as Remmick , Wunmi Mosaku as Annie , Jayme Lawson as Pearline , Omar Benson Miller as Cornbread , Delroy Lindo as Delta Slim , Li Jun Li as Grace Chow , Yao as Bo Chow , Lola Kirke as Joan , Peter Dreimanis as Bert , Saul Williams as Jedidiah , Helena Hu as Lisa Chow , David Maldonado as Hogwood , Andrene Ward-Hammond as Ruthie , Nathaniel Arcand as Chayton , Tenaj L. Jackson as Beatrice and Nicoye Banks as Jacob.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty really good. Which considering who is starring in this film is both not all that surprising and yet at the exact same entirely surprising it's not all that surprising as alot of this films actors are a bunch of a really goof actors in there own and therefor know how to turn in a good performance but at the same time tho it's also an entirely surprising thing as alot more of this films actors is made up of a bunch of unknown to very little known actors and there to expect a goo performance out of them would be seen as being unwise but that just goes to show you just how good even this films unknown actors are as they more then hold there own there acting against someone like Michael B. Jordan who quite easily gets the best performance in this film entire film as he has to play two different characters and yet still make them both feel distinct enough from each other that us the audience aren't going to confuse the two something that he does with huge ease with one of them being more kindhearted and softer spoken and the other being a bit more gruff and hardened all of which is all done through his performance with the acting that's in his very film really being helped by the fact that this films script is just so good that all this films actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very film.

Doing the CGI for this film is Baraboom! Studios , Base FX , Industrial Light & Magic , Outpost VFX , Rising Sun Pictures and Storm Studios. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very film was in all honesty not that bad as while the film does mainly use CGI for things that it might b able to create practically like extending the set of certain locations and things like that it still does have some really bad looking effects in it as well like for example the fact that alot of the blood that they use in this film is CGI with very few examples of it being practical and the fact that the film does add in some CGI elements to it's creatures which do look a bit distracting especially given the films more realistic look and tone all of which makes you wonder where alot of this films one hundred million American dollars went to as it's not something that you always see on screen and while having a film with that kind of budget is modest budget when you compare it to any Marvel Cinematic Universe film you still need to see where that money is going as it's quite clearly not going to the effects as they range from OK at best to flat out bad at it's worst with the film even having in some really obvious CGI looking steam as well as there not as could as they could have been and with the film really only having one main location it is something that does make you wonder where alot of this films budget is going if it's not going to the effects.

There are plenty of films that you can say are slow burns and this is film is most certainly one of them and while that's not always a bad thing. Here it takes a whopping forty plus minuets for the main plot of the film to really get going which wouldn't be that bad of a thing if the proceeding forty plus minuets was pent with characters doing something that would be payed off later on in the film but sadly it's not with alot of that time being spent with the brothers just getting the staff that the need to open up there establishment and that's really it and that's not something that needed over forty minuets to do as you very easily could have done all of that in a montage scene and have the rest of the running time before the be spent on developing the main plot of the film and while having a slow burn plot can be a good thing as it allows for the plot to develop at a more natural pace you still need to have something that's actually entertaining happening and when all your doing is just showing new versions of the scene that you've just watched then it makes you wonder why the makers of this film thought that it was a good idea to have the plot of this film be a slow burner as it's quite clearly something that doesn't work for every film this film including as the makers of this film could have used that extra running time to set up things that would be payed off later on in the film instead of just showing us how the brothers got all of the staff that they need for the establishment which is something that we don't need to know as it adds nothing to the plot of the film nor it's characters either.

When this films trailer was first being released it got alot of hate for doing what alot of bad trailers do and that's show off the entire plot of the film. This is something that wouldn't be a bad thing if the film itself had more awsome moments in it and the stuff that we saw in the trailer was just the tip of the ice berg and while I personally never saw the trailer or any trailer for this film I would have to imagine that alot of the good stuff that's in this movie is in that trailer as there's nothing else that's all that good in the main body of the film which is something that really does make you wonder why the people who were editing the trailer together chose to put all of the good stuff in that one trailer as that is something that alot of people are going to notice and because of that they would have no excuse to watch the movie as they could just watch it for free on Youtube and get the exact same experience out of it with this now hopefully letting trailer making companies know that putting the entire plot of the movie into the trailer is never going to end well for the film as sometimes keeping the good stuff for the main movie will actually help the movie out as then the people that do go and see and love the movie can then go and tell there friends to watch this movie for that one moment that wasn't in the trailer and yet here because of the fact that alot of what was in the trailer was also in the movie that's something that can now never happen as sometimes not knowing what is coming next can only make the movie all that much better as it would have been something that genuinely did catch us the audience and yet because of the fact that a huge portion of this films plot was spoiled in the trailer that's not something that will now ever ever happen with this film.

With this film being an action horror film the film does put alot more focus on it's action elements then it does it's horror elements. Which given that this films writer , producer and director Ryan Coogler has mainly done action films. That is something that does make alot of sense as that he really does know how to direct and how to direct well but at the same time for any double genre film there really does need to be fine balance between both genre's and leaning to far either way risks making those that love the genre pretty angry and while it would be hard to see horror lovers be angry at this film it still would have been nice to actually see what a Ryan Coogler director horror film could actually look like as even tho we get some really impressive looking action scenes in this films with the best one being the third act fight between all of the heroes and all of the vampires as always seeing a bunch of humans just take on a bunch of vampires will always be cool no matter what the rest of the film is like that's also sadly really the only action scene in the movie which really isn't enough to justify being called an action film but to this films credit this is where being a slow burner comes back into play as the film did take the time to make you care for it's characters to the point where you want to see them make it out f this bar alive and well and that's something that would have been really hard to do if this film wasn't a slow burn of a film as the film be more focused on getting as much plot out of the way very early on that it wouldn't take the time that a film like this one really does need to make you care for alot of it's characters.

Now then this film has / had an exact gran total running time of exactly two hours and three minuets and forty one seconds. Which for this type of film is quite a long running time to have even more so when you take into account that this film takes around forty minuets to get going but to be fair tho this film really does have the right amount of plot there to really cover that amount of running time it however doesn't really use it's running time all that wisely tho as the plot of the film isn't properly set up nor is it developed all that well either with it feeling like the characters are just doing random things for alot of the films running time it's only once we are deep into the films second act that the film really does start to get going and by that point in time it's far to little to late with the film not even taking the time to fully develop alot of it's characters either as we don't get to find about all that much about who these characters are as people with alot of them just feeling like two dimensional characters and while the films characters aren't that badly written or acted for that matter they leave a little to be desired and could have been handled alot more better in other films and given that this film does have a long running time you'd think that the makers of this film would take the time needed to develop both it's characters and plot but nope they oddly don't do that which is either the bravest move that the makers of this film could have made or the dumbest move that they could have made as it could be argued that getting to know that much about the films characters is apart of the point of the film as well but i really will admit that this film really does have some really good paving to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror film that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us un this very film well then in all honesty i in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very film were pretty lame. Which given that this films main killers are all vampires is to be expected as there's only one way for them to kill people but at the same time tho given the fat that the makers of this film are quite clearly putting more effort into the action aspect f the film it would have been nice if they put in just as much effort into the horror aspect of the film as while having some nice looking gore is nice it means nothing if the kill itself isn't creative enough or inventive enough to actually scare and while the mainstream will and currently are eating this film up with both a high score on Rotten Tomatoes and around a seven million American dollar intake on just the previews alone it does say that they care alot more about the action aspect of the film then they are the horror aspect when if you put in as much effort into the horror aspect that you did into the action aspect as well then you'd end up with a hit film that would be loved by both horror lovers and lovers of action films as well with the films best set of kills also coming during the films act as we get to see a bunch of vampires just go to town on some humans which granted does get a little respective to see but given that this film really doesn't have alot of death scenes in this movie it only makes sense that the death scenes that are in this movie would also be in the exact same scene where the vampires are fighting the humans in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Overall in what could be the saddest thing to say but so far this film really is the best horror film to have come out so far this year which granted isn't saying all that much given that alot of the other horror films that have come out this year really are just bad to OK at best with this film actually proving that horror films still can be good if you have a good filmmaker making it in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very film in this very review and a such that really does mean that this very film really does ern itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images hat I personally used in this very review well then boys an girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I pe4rsomally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this film being Google Images simply because the official Scream fandom wiki page actually has images from this film really are up and on the Google Image and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
