Alien: Earth SPOILER FILLED Review

The Alien franchise has been getting very mixed results at the box office in recent years with the prequel films not being that well liked. As such it really was a huge surprise when it was announced that the franchise would be getting it's very first ever TV show and well the final episode of the show aired just a few short days ago and since i've not only been watching the show on a week to week basis but have also just watched the final two episodes of the show it really makes sense that I review the show as a whole and so then join me as I give you my SPOILER FILLED review of the show that has a cool title that it just doesn't deliver on with the show in question being called simply just "Alien: Earth" enjoy.

The plot of this show when spaceship containing several alien lifeforms crash lands on earth the creatures are taken for experiments by the owner of a rich company and it's up to his employees to work out what they are before they escape. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual plot that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad however tho this shows plot really isn't all that good either as while the show does indeed get alot of credit for trying something new with the Alien franchise it also just feels like it's plodding along alot of the time with even the first episode of the show taking alot of it's running time to really get going and while the plot does get alot more better after that dreadful first episode there's not really all that much to this plot that fully required eights episodes in order to do it justice as this very easily could have been told in half of that episode count and you'd still get the same experience from it but to give credit where it's due the fact that this plot is kind of a slow burner does feel refreshing and it does give you a good reason to want to check out the next episode each and every week but the plot for the show itself is still really weak with the shows side plots oddly enough being alot more interesting and more thought out then what the main plot of the show is as the side plot with Slightly and Morrow to be the far more better plot of the show with the plot of this show being really rather entertaining and as well as being really rather engaging as well in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

Starring in this show is Sydney Chandler as Wendy / Marcy Hermit , Alex Lawther as Joe Hermit and Essie Davis as Dame Sylvia. Also starring in this show is Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier , Babou Ceesay as Morrow , Adarsh Gourav as Slightly / Aarush Singh , Erana James as Curly , Lily Newmark as Nibs / Rose Ellis , Jonathan Ajayi as Smee , David Rysdahl as Arthur Sylvia , Diêm Camille as Siberian , Moe Bar-El as Rashidi , Adrian Edmondson as Atom Eins , Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Yutani , Kit Young as Tootles / Isaac , Richa Moorjani as Zoya Zaveri , Lloyd Everitt as Hoyt , Tayme Thapthimthong as Anant , Dean Alexandrou as Bergerfeld , Amir Boutrous as Rahim , Karen Aldridge as Chibuzo , Michael Smiley as Shmuel , Jamie Bisping as Malachite , Andy Yu as Teng , Max Rinehart as Bronski , Enzo Cilenti as Petrovich , Tom Moya as Clem , Victoria Masoma as Sullivan , Tanapol Chuksrida as Dinsdale and Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh.

Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual acting that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual acting that's actually feature / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad. With this show having alot of decent actors in it it's therefor not that surprising that the acting in this show is actually pretty good with all of the shows actors turning in some really good performances in this show with this not really being all that much of a surprise as the acting from alot of Noah Hawley's shows have also been really good with it being made crystal clear that he really does know how to write good characters and how to cat the characters that are in his show as well as all of this shows characters feel perfectly cast with even Adrian Edmondson who is usually a more comedic actor and writer giving a truly bone chilling performance in this show so much that even if your a fan of him chances are you won't know that it's him as his performance is just that good with it being hard to say just who the best actor in this show really is as by rights all of this shows actors could make claim to that and it would be totally justified as all of the shows actors are perfectly well cast in this show so much so that it's hard to picture anyone else playing there roles as they are all just so good to watch in this show with the acting that's in this show really being helped by the fact that the scripts for this show are just so good that all this shows actors have to do is just say the lines as they are written and a good performance will come out of them naturally which is something that really does help to raise the overall quality of the acting that's in this very show.

Doing the CGI for this show really is the legends and the really greats that really are currently over at Proof. Now then interms of what I personally thought / felt about the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual CGI that's actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad with the show making great use of hidden CGI which is CGI that don't really notice is there in the first place with the CGI mainly being used on things like set extensions and in some cases the Alien creatures themselves with those effects being a very mixed bag of results as there times where the fully CGI Xenomorph does look really good but there are times where you can just straight up tell that it was done in a computer with this being kind of understandable as the show did have to spread it's effects budget not only across several episodes but also several creatures with alot of them requiring more CGI then others with the best example of this being The Ocellus which is this alien eye which attaches itself to a sheep very early on in the show and remains there for alot of the shows episodes which that effect not really being something that you can do practically whereas you can do several of the shows other alien creatures practically with those creatures only going full on CGI when it's absolutely necessary to do so which is a great to use CGI as it means that not only does the show have a great way to come in under budget as there not doing alot of VFX on alot of the creatures but when it comes to creatures like the Xenomorph then the effects team also have on set reference so that they can now match things like the lighting of the character which they do do to very mixed results as well.

SPOILERS START HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There was one thing that felt really off in the last two episodes of the show and that's the fact that even tho she had been written and portrayed as the main heroine of the show from the end of episode seven and all throughout episode eight Wendy is written like she's meant to be the main villain of the show. With her both doing and saying things that a villain would say and do which does create an inconsistency with her character as everything that we had seen with her character made it look like that she was the ultimate good guy and the one person who will always do the right thing no matter how hard it is and yet in those final two episodes the makers of the show just went away with all of that for no reason whatsoever as it's not something that makes sense for her character to do nor does it make sense for the plot of the show either as it would have made more sense for Boy to be the main villain of the show and infact that's what the show was building up at several points in the show with him having these outbursts of anger over any little thing and yet they don't go with the obvious choice as a main villain and instead chose someone where it makes no sense for them to be acting like this as in the final episode she and the remaining Lost Boys have all of the people who did them harm during the show and the one person that didn't do them harm with that person being Dame Sylvia with Wendy even saying at the episode that they now rule the island both of which aren't things that a good guy would do but both of which are things that a villain would do with it seeming like the makers of this show wanted to copy the fact that Westworld made Dolores it's main villain however what they failed to realise is the fans of that show didn't like that change in character either much like how this change in character for Wendy makes no sense given what we already know about her character in the first place.

This show does have some good ideas behind it sadly all of which it doesn't fully explore like the main idea of the show being the fact that the Xenomorphs are now on earth which is a cool idea but the show gets rid of it by keeping locked up in a building for the entirety of the shows eight episodes. With another really cool idea that the show has but it does quite literally nothing with until the final episode being the fact that Kirsch is an android which is a cool idea as it then means that we could get to see him do some creepy things like the androids in this franchise are known to do but again the show does nothing with it and instead of just has him experimenting on the alien creatures until the final episode when he and Morrow have a fight and Morrow essentially breaks Kirsch's back and makes him bleed but that's really it with it making it seem like that the makers of the show had one thing in mind but either Disney or FX ordered them to make the alien creatures more sympathetic as we the audience end up caring more about those characters then we do about alot of the human characters when it would have been so much more cooler to see if we got things like the Xenomorphs attacking innocent people on earth as that's something that we haven't seen before now and while there are hints of that in both the second and the last last episode all those do is just make you wonder how cool that that idea could have been instead of just choosing to play things safe or even having Kirsch actually act more villainous all throughout the show and showing him actually being a villain instead of just showing him help two of the lost boys carry a dead body in episode seven which even then doesn't make him a villain as he's showing an act of kindness if it seems like i'm being hard on this show i'm really not it's just that there's a lot of really good ideas in this show that don't get explored as much as they should have done in the first place.

While many will rather rightfully point to Wendy being one of the best characters in the show to me that honor goes to Nibs. As with Wendy there wasn't a whole lot to her outside of the fact that she's willing to do the right thing no matter the cost and can talk to the aliens themselves where as with Nibs she came across as being more well developed as a character as there were times where she displayed moments of affection to her friends and times where she would be scared or playful or just downright upset or angry at people all of which are things that while she doesn't overcome these things infact it could be argued that due to the fact she kills someone in cold blood at the end of episode seven she becomes more consumed by them they are also the things that help to make her a more interesting character as you never really know just what it is that your going to get with her character whereas with alot of the lost boys minus Slightly they all just fall into the background and really aren't given that much of a chance to shine with very little of them actually adding anything to the plot of the show other then being someone for the Xenomorph to kill off and that's really it but to give her Wendy her flowers as it were she is a truly bada*s character with her going from someone who is truly naive and believes everything that Boy says to someone who knows that not everything that an adult will say to you is true and that sometimes it's hard to tell just who is telling the truth and who is lieing to your face something that Slightly also has to deal with with Morrow as well however whereas Slightly becomes consumed by fear because of it Wendy steps up and actually does something about it and becomes pretty much the groups leader while Nibs who it could be argued is the better character is pretty much her third in command after her brother.

Now then this show really has / had an exact grand total running of no long her then one four thirty minuets. With the rest of the shows episodes being around fifty minuets with episode one having the longest running time of well over an hour with the show really having the right amount of plot there to cover that amount running time however in saying that this show really doesn't use it's running time all that wisely as the entire middle portion of the show just feels like padding when this is a plot that really doesn't need padding out as all it needs to do is just fully flesh out it's plot and that's really it and yet the show isn't that interested in doing that and was more interested in trying to fill out eight hour long episodes when if this show was a more tighter and compact four episodes it would allow for a much more stronger plot that would have no room to padding in it with the episode not really developing any of it's characters either as apart from Wendy , Nibs and Boy none of the characters get anything interms of character development with us the audience not even getting the chance to find out anything about the shows characters something that the makers of this could have had the chance to do and if the makers of this really wanted to make Wendy be the villain of the show then they should have added that to her character from an early stage and not have it come out of nowhere in the final two episodes of the show with the shows first episode being the only one that could have had large portions of it's running time cut out of it as the rest of the episodes flow really well where as that episode really takes a good while to truly get going but I really will admit that this sow really does have some really good pacing to it tho.

So now then as this is a horror show that really does mean that I have to actually talk about the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very show well then in all honesty I in all honesty personally thought / felt that the actual kills that are actually featured / presented to us in this very show was in all honesty not that bad. With the shows kills being the best part of the show itself with that being due to the fact that the show does spend alot of time not having kills in it and instead just building up tension and letting get to know alot of the characters which makes alot of the deaths not only seemed earned but also worth while as they are some really cool kills to be found all throughout this show with the best kill in the whole entire show being in the shows final episode where we actually see a Xenomorph out in the sunlight attacking people in the grass on the island which is such a cool idea and it's one that does hit home just how cool that the very idea of having these deadly creatures out in public could have been if it was done well with the only other kill that matches up to it somewhat happening earlier on in the show when the Xenomorph attacks a bunch of rich people in their house with both sets of kills being really gory with the creature itself making great and inventive use of it's tail all of which is something that does prove that these character can still be creepy and cool if there in the right hands and while the show itself does have alot of really good looking kills in it all of which are just as gory nothing will be able to top those kills as they give us an idea of just how cool the very idea of having a Xenomorph on earth could really have been in my freaking opinions anyways / at least.

SPOILERS END HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Overall whilst this show does get better and better the more that it goes on it still does have alot of teething issues all of which are things that would need to be figured should the show get the more seasons that Noah Hawley is wanting the show to get as even tho all of things that have been listed in this review will seem small in this season they could become alot more bigger in possible future seasons of the show in my freaking opinions anyways / at least. Now then i've talked about all of the good and as well as all of the bad things that are in this very show in this very review and as such that really does mean that really does mean that this show really does earn itself a grand old score of exactly a 7 out of 10 from me.

Now then as for where I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review well then boys and girls and as well as ladies and gentlemen I personally got all of the images that I personally used in this very review from the official Alien fandom wiki page , Tenor , IMP Awards . Com and Google Images. With my personally preferred website to use to get images from this show being Google Images simply because Google Images actually has images from this show really are up and on Google Images and plus pretty much much all of the images that I personally found on Google Images were all really very fairly high quality and as well as being as really very fairly high definition as well and so then horror fans we end this review as we always do with really our one and true goddess Elvira wishing us all some really very unpleasant dreams.
